Maya's fusion of carnatic with metal is what put it over the top for me. That was just mesmerizing and like many, I was not ready when she finished. We all wanted more. Brava Maya!

She wants to fuze (?) metal and Carnetic music. Carnatic music, known as Karnāṭaka saṃgīta or Karnāṭaka saṅgītam in the South Indian languages, is a system of music commonly associated with South India, including the modern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
Anybody who takes traditional music from their culture and can blend it with another style of music has my vote. Electrified traditional instruments are a plus also.
That's just raaga music it's not specific to South India but the entirety of the the subcontinent.
We in North India play the same music as well.
Please try to not separate our beautiful country like that for no reason.
The music she started is a totally south indian Combination and composition but it is THAT BASIC 8 NODES CALLED KAHARBA WHICH SHE MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT HER PERFORMANCE. For an indian it is in our blood, Indians r not surprised then why u people?

Maya mentioned earlier that she would be playing a Papa Roach piece. Her father is a heavy metal fan and plays as a hobby but he began teaching her when she was 6.....then she learned more via RUclips tabs etc.

@@kalanatarajan7993 Yes, but it is fusion of Papa Roach & Indian classical carnatic Nata Bhairavi Raagam. I guess we can not call it “cover” rather Original as its fusion of both western & Indian tunes. Moreover she is playing Guitar & Veena combined on a Guitar.
