Fun fact: The psychic on Venkman's show predicted the world would end on New Years. Exactly when the finale of the movie took place. It would seem he was legitimate.
fun fact: in part 2, the trap could now capture more than one entity at a time. Whenever two or more ghosts were captured in the same trap, their molecules would merge, combining them into one entity. It is suggested that opening the trap would allow both entities to un-bind and escape, but this has never been explored.
When Ghostbuster's originally came out. Slimer, the floating green ghostie from the hotel who slimed Bill Murray, was a big merchandising icon. You bet there were tons of toys, plush, action figures. I remember having a firehouse/Ghostbusters headquarters with the car. They sold the slime in tubs the size of playdo cups. There was a place on the play set to set the slime, put your action figure under it and push button to dump slime and 'slime' them. Some just played with the slime, you could by it separately.
I only had the proton pack and trap...I think there might have been goggles too but I can't remember....dang I'm getting old....but, for me the trap was the best because I could put my foot down over here and something would happen way over there! Gods I miss my childhood! lol.

4:46 Hey, 2016 was the year when "Ghostbusters - Answer the Call" was released. Coincidence? It wasn't the end of the world, but it almost ended the Ghostbusters franchise! :D
I would say that the reason everybody distanced themselves from the Ghostbusters is because someone had to be the scapegoats for the destruction in the first movie. After a disaster, some people in society think we have find someone to blame and then rip them apart, instead of realizing that sometimes bad things happen in a broken world. It was politically advantageous for the mayor’s office to paint the guys as frauds. From a writing perspective, this also helps because it puts the Ghostbusters back as underdogs.
16:25 The sharp turn you noted? That was a scene kinda edited a bit to be part of that music video showing scenes of ghost busting before explaining what they learned of the slime so far. Originally it was Ray driving like a madman all of a sudden after first investigating the Vigo painting. Vigo had hypnotized him. Snapped out of it when Winston punched him.
In the mid to late 80s, kids toys were undergoing “the slime craze.” It began with Masters of the Universe and their Evil Horde Slime Pit, which turned your characters into slime monsters by dumping this green stuff on them. In The Real Ghostbusters toy line (the toys based on the Ghostbusters cartoon show) the most popular slime color was purple pink just like the slime in this movie.
Yep. Slime got really popular there in the 80's! There was this show on Nickelodeon, it was produced in Canada btw, called You Can't Do That On Television and there was a running gag that whenever someone (usually a kid) said "I don't know" , green slime got dumped on them from above. The whole green slime associated with Nickelodeon started with that show. Also.during this time you could even get slime out of gumball machines. You put in a quarter and got a clear plastic egg-thing and when you opened it there was slime inside.

You need to play "Ghostbusters: The Video Game". Preferably the remastered version on steam or switch. It was written by Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis to be the canonical part 3. It even got the original cast back to voice their characters. It also gave Dan a chance to cram in as much weird lore and ridiculously powerful enemies as he wanted.

all sorts of different coloured slime. when i was a kid i went to universal studios and saw the ghostbuster show and in the ghostbuster gift shop, my grandparents bought me green slime

When did I stop playing with Slime? Well we weren’t allowed to use it indoors and I know exactly when, I gave it up.....the day I dropped a blob of it in a crack in the sidewalk reached in, pulled it out and realized I had grabbed a very large slug instead. To be fair they felt exactly the same!
So glad after 32 years we FINALLY get a release of Randy Edelman's film score. Sure it's not in correct film sequence, but a Cheech says, "Better late than never."
3:02 That there is the son of the director of the first two Ghostbusters movies, Jason Reitman. Jason is the director of the new movie, essentially Ghostbusters 3, which is set to come out at the end of this year (should the unnamed plague finally subside).
I'm 98% sure that the creep who played the museum restorer/flunkie to the big bad (and he was also the ghost nannie) was Renfield in Dracula, Dead and Loving It. Just seeing him in this movie, you can see how he'd be a good Renfield.
You skipped my favorite line in the movie... or perhaps any movie. "Everything you're doing is wrong. I want you to know this." Of course you gotta say it with that accent.
In that time there was already green slime so probably red one also existed before this movie came out. In Spain it was called Blandi Blub (something like "soft blob"), in USA it appeared in the mid 1970's under the namd Slime by Mattel. As I said I only know the green version but the color isn't part of the formula, just green colorant so many other colors were possible.
The babies who played Oscar were the twin nephews of John Denver. One, unfortunately, is gone now. The one who played Vigo has also passed away, and, was almost as evil as his GB2 persona.
Yes pink and purple slime was available because there was a toyline and cartoon called "The Real Ghostbusters" that debuted in 1986. 2 years after the original movie. Both the toyline and csrtoon ended in 1991, 2 years after this movie in 1989.
Peter MacNicol reminds me in this character like Renfield in the Dracula book/movies. I feel like at some point we'll see him eating cockroaches and bugs.
Ghostbusters 2 is enjoyable, but it’s way too kid friendly. The first wasn’t intended to be a kid’s movie, the guys are constantly smoking, the jokes they tell are subtle and intelligent, and the horror elements tend to actually be legit scary. In this one, Viggo is kinda scary, but most all the actual ghosts are bright and cartoonish, and the humor is clearly meant for a kid audience. Why? The cartoon show was in full swing, that’s why.
The reason no one believes in ghosts now, is because the studio wanted to keep the budget down, as the original film had cost 35 million dollars to make, roughly the same budget as The Return of the Jedi, and in only 5 short years, film production costs in Hollywood were skyrocketing because of new corporate laws and inflation. They couldn’t afford to go bigger and better, but the budget was already going to be nearly twice and much as the original just because the world was a different place.
@@NewfieMovieReactions yeah it’s unfortunate, because I would have loved to have seen a movie involving them riding high off their original success, and that was Dan Akroyd’s original idea, but the studio needed the story to bring things back down to zero for budget reasons and to me, that hamstrung a lot of the creativity.
While it's true that the third official Ghostbusters movie is coming out in November, might I recommend you check out Ghostbusters the VIDEO GAME for the PS3 or PS4 (and I think it's available on XBox). Harold Ramis has passed away, and the Ghostbusters video game was the last collaboration between all major players in the Ghostbusters franchise. Annie Potts, to this day is a wonderfully beautiful woman. She can get it even today. The woman has the ability to play any role, sexy, nerdy, ugly duckling, mother, comedy, serious, drama, horror. I mean, let's be honest, I love Chris Hemsworth and he is great at comedy, but, you can't beat Annie as the secretary for the Ghostbusters. Rick Moranis, well...the man is a damn legend that I feel doesn't get near enough notoriety. Not just for Ghostbusters, but for ALL of the things he's been in.

Even if there were ghosts and a giant marshmallow man in the street, some ppl still wouldn't believe it and say it's a hoax. PPL would say it's a setup or something, ppl are just skeptical of everything. It's not hard to think ppl would still believe they're frauds.
I never realized that the woman on the Psychic show at the beginning plays the mom in Shameless lol. Couldn't place her at first, but the voice was extremely recognizable. Conspiracy. They can see the giant marshmallow man and still deny it. Just look at the state of the world today and it really should be a surprise. Anti-vaxxers, flat earthers, etc.
YOu are right, there is a huge disconnect between the first movie and this one, the logic doesn't follow, I think the writers just wanted to put them in a "bottom of the barrel" position to start the movie, but to my mind they did it in a way that doesn't make sense. That said, GREAT movie other than that.
I'm saying "B'ys" it's a Newfoundland slang that means Friends. So when I say "Whatta ya at b'ys?" It means "What's up" basically. Haha. I know it's weird.
I definitely recommend Ghostbusters afterlife! It was very respectful and they paid homage where they needed to. Don't bother watching the 2016 version it's crap.
The slime is concentrated negative emotions, that has pooled all its hatred and anger to bring back to life the most evil being in existence from the past.
it doesn't make sense. over all they took parts of the cartoon for this but parts of the last movie too and they mixed things up. There was a better story in this fan fic some one put on youtube. If you want more of this canon see the Video Game . the 2016 Ghostbusters is a completely separate story with no connection to this. the upcoming 3rd movie will be a continuation. and yes Ghostbusters was one of the 1st toy lines to sell slime I think He-Man sold slime 1st slime shooting water guns were real too
GB2 definitely has it's problems as it's pretty much a rehash of the first movie. To have the Ghostbusters be classed as frauds despite hundreds of people seeing a giant marshmallow man walk through the streets of New York makes no sense. Despite it's problems, GB2 does have some good things like the villain for example. Vigo terrified me as a kid. I avoided this movie like the plague when I was a kid as the painting of Vigo was pretty scary to look at with that evil look on his face like he was looking right into your soul. I've always felt GB2 was much darker and scarier than the first movie despite the fact it's supposed to be the kid friendlier version. Yes, the first movie has some scary moments but the scary moments in this movie felt like something out of horror movie like the ghastly severed heads that appear in the abandoned subway tunnel for example. That is damn terrifying.
This movie is a solid 11 out of 10 until the Ghostbusters start being Ghostbusters then it drops to a 1 out of 10. It's just a scene for scene shot of the first movie. The studio wanted a 2nd film to tie in with the cartoon. And, because they were lazy the just re-hashed the first script. Bill Murray wanted no part of it, and you can tell. All the best stuff is the non Ghost stuff. Egon has some great lines in this movie, some of the best out of both of them, the rest is nonsensical trash....
Fun fact: The psychic on Venkman's show predicted the world would end on New Years. Exactly when the finale of the movie took place. It would seem he was legitimate.

it doesn't make sense. over all they took parts of the cartoon for this but parts of the last movie too and they mixed things up. There was a better story in this fan fic some one put on youtube. If you want more of this canon see the Video Game . the 2016 Ghostbusters is a completely separate story with no connection to this. the upcoming 3rd movie will be a continuation.
and yes Ghostbusters was one of the 1st toy lines to sell slime I think He-Man sold slime 1st
slime shooting water guns were real too
GB2 definitely has it's problems as it's pretty much a rehash of the first movie.
28:30 .....that wasn't a "ghost nanny". Do you not even remember that guy? You literally saw him just the scene prior?
I didn't catch that... nope. *smacks forehead*
Some people just ain't great at faces. Even when focusing I have trouble correlating the face of Janosz to the nanny.
Maybe they summoned up his Grandmother.
It represents government cover up ;)
RUclips tried to show me 9 freaking ads during this video...9!
More Harry Potter please!!!!???? We love your videos
Thanks for loving my videos. I'm recording Harry Potter 7 tomorrow. It should be up next week.
@@NewfieMovieReactions thank you for the reply. I appreciate it, not many creators have the time. Thanks
This one is OK but they got very cheesy with the franchise stuff.
