This is some of the most tasteful and goosebump-inducing improv I have ever heard. I could only ever dream of playing like this. Mr. Shider is really something.
This whole piece is very impressive but what strikes me is the almost PERFECT rhythm. So many great piano players struggle to keep a perfect rhythm but this guy nails it and it makes his playing so much more enjoyable to listen to.

I think the way he plays it is far from having a constant tempo (in the sense that a metronome would), but it's not trying to. It speeds up a lot, but great jazz (or even rock) performances played by humans often do vary tempo a lot, however what matters is how it feels in the continuity, and the groove is perfect.

Youve sparked my interest in piano again. When i began learning piano, i learned the traditional way, with tons of sheets, lots of theory. However, i felt so trapped that i had to rely on sheets and couldnt use my learned theory to play by myself.
