I am one of your backers right from the start. Unsettled ticks all the right boxes: Sci-Fi, exploration, interesting encounters and environments, charakter progression, puzzle solving, coop and solo mode, beautiful artwork, high quality production and with me owning all available planets: also good replay value. By the time I have finished completing the missions of the last planet, I have forgotten about the first one. Who would have thought, that getting old (44) and forgetful could prove to be of value? But what I personally find most refreshing for a change: No combat! Thanks so much, Orange Nebula! Can't wait for your next Sci-Fi game!
Love love LOVE Xia! It's set up on my table ready to go literally right now. I think I'm on my third watch-through of the solo campaign series because I just love seeing this game in action so much.
I have so many games, I've almost never played that I've decided to sell a bunch of them. (Don't know how or where but for example, I've had Warps Edge for 2 years and it's still shrink wrapped! However, I still like to watch lists like this and One Stop is my favourite boardgame channel by far. Always informative, helpful and entertaining. Thanks so much.
The big big problem with Unsettled is that the first time you play a planet, you have no idea what to expect making the difficultly pretty hard. The second time you know exactly what to do making the difficulty extremely easy. For example you get to objectiveA on one side of the map. Next objective is now on the other side of the map. You'll lose a ton of time just trying to get there, which is the point. But after you probably die, and play again, now you'll just have one player go to objective A and the other player just wait near objective B. Zero stress. To me Vanguard managed to scratch that same puzzley planetary exploration itch while also providing a crazy amount of campaign unlocks and upgrades, and provide a more consistent better scifi plot.
3 favorites in no particular order. Space Hulk Death Angel + all mini epxansions. Tells a different story every time and is so tense till the last action. You get to feel for the fallen comrades and every loss is a highlight. Highly variable, replayable and less than average table space, packs in a small box, portable and also a fun co-op (and a co-op indeed with no A-male problem). One of my all time fav games in general. Try it with a timer and feel those tense decisions!!! Xia Ledgends + Embers expansion. Takes a long time to play but feels unique with every run. Would like some better NPCs AI cards. There are many fanmade ones and other variants out there. Even a story driven campaign. Highly recommended! Shadowrun Crossfire + Ops expansion. Fastest solo game i have ever played. A difficult one (which i love) highly tactical (can't know for sure which cards you need to buy till the next turn comes up). I love the slow grind for Karma (XP) and the different missions (many many fanmade ones out there ranging from begginer to high level characters). For me, this one tells a different story every time you attempt a run. Star Trek Frontiers is great one. Twilight inscription for something different. New frontiers for a little RFTG theme in a board game is also a good choice. Dune Imperium Uprising is surprisingly great solo and an incredible game in general.
One of my favourite videos from you. I keep thinking about picking up Unsettled and you might have turned the dial. Core Space and First Born are my favourite games in this category, and replaced Galaxy Defenders in this regard. I grew to loath the rolling of both attack and defence dice in the same phase that often led to long battles, and preferred the more simple yet still engaging roll of Core Space against a known armour.
I love Warp's Edge and cannot wait for ISS Vanguard and Unsettled to arrive... (by the way Orange Nebula's upcoming Spirit Fire looks very intriguing..my poor wallet). Thank your for doing this enthusiastic list, and also giving a quick explanation as to who might like and dislike a certain game, it is always fun to see you as well as hear you 🙂.
Is there a popular solo variant for Star Wars Imperial Assault that is considered the go-to? I have longed flirted with pulling the trigger on the game, but just not sure if it would be worthwhile as a solo-only purchase. Is there a solo-variant that is generally considered as working and can be applied across expansions as well?
There is the alliance app. It gives you pretty good play for solo. They're is also a solo variant for the regular game that someone made. You can find it in the file section of bgg!
Great list! I completely agree about ISS Vanguard, as I'm pretty far into the campaign right now. Also, everyone needs to go watch Colin's Xia playthrough, it's so much fun!
What an awesome list. Thank you! 1. What are your thoughts of Sword & Sorcery, and about the opinion that it level up Galaxy Defenders system..? 2. Do you like Lockdown better than Nemesis?
Galaxy Defenders is harder and overall I think I enjoy it more than S&S. Currently I like Lockdown better but thats just because I have played it more!
Great to see Nemesis on the list (of course it would be there!), but I vastly prefer original Nemesis. I thought Lockdown would be better for solo/co-op, but it's not. Plus, Lockdown is unnecessarily more punishing. The whole darkness/power thing, CSS pods that you need to keep track of, and the convoluted/harder to understand and implement methods of survival are big negatives for me. OG Nemesis is punishing enough, but a lot more manageable. I also prefer the OG theme of being on a ship infested with aliens. It's a far better theme than being on a Mars base. OG Nemesis for the win!
Great succinct and enthusiastic reviews! I think we have the same tastes, I also love exploration and suspense in games, I'm excited to try a couple of these. I'm developing a sci-fi adventure card game, so it helps me a lot. Thanks!
Waiting on ISS Vanguard and Unsettled to arrive ! For Galaxy Defenders I own the original KS version but none of the expansions. Are any of them "MUST" own or is the base game all I need?
I'm surprised Project Elite and/or XCOM didn't make the cut! (Gears of War too but not sure if that is technically Sci-Fi). Great list and agree with Xia being so good for replayability - This helped me decide to pull the trigger on Unsettled so looking forward to playing it when it ships!
Gears Of War is great but I suspect the few copies floating around are probably pretty pricey since it's been out of print for awhile. Then again, most new games these days are pricey so perhaps that's not as much of a factor anymore.
Thanks for the great list. I would have expected to see Stars of Akarios on it. You seemed to enjoy it quite a lot during your playthroughs with Bairnt.
I have recently fallen in love with 5 parsecs and got dragged into this wormhole of miniature painting and terrain DIY to the point that now I'm doing narrative videos telling the games story like weird experimental storytelling 😅. I've been considering core space and vanguard for a while. Maybe I should try then, at the risk of been dragged into another wormhole 😬
After scouring these comments, I get the feeling that a lot of people like to add games that nobody mentioned...just for the sake of mentioning them, so I'll do the same here. I'm proud to state a game that nobody has said yet: Star Trek Panic! Very awesome co-op.
Actually I did mention Star Trek Panic to Colin when talking about Robotech Attack On the SDF-1 which is like Panic only on steroids and better suited to solo play. I like Panic a lot,not as much as Star Trek Frontiers but hey,and there are some pretty crazy variations for the game on BGG.
Hey Colin, I really love your list. Many of your favorites are on my list too, some even on the same ranking. "ISS Vanguard" is my #1. Since I have not yet received 'Unsettled", I am wondering if it will conquer the summit. Personally, I don't have much love for "Warp's End' or "Astro Knights" and I have never heard of "Legendary". I would replace them with "The Hunters A. D. 2114" and the first sci-fi miniature game I ever played "Star Saga", also I'd squeeze "S.H.E.O.L" onto that list. Thank you for the video, it was a fun watch! And compliments on the beautifully painted minis.
@One Stop Co-op Shop Yeah, I looked into it quickly and liked what I saw. I love Alien! Found a cheap (€37.-), new copy online, so I got it as a Sunday treat. 😊 There also is an X-Files version (next to many others), which goes for insane ammounts of money (several stores all with the near same price tag, ca. €175. -). I wonder why? Exceeds the prices of all other IPs, manifold.
Awesome List. I love Warp's Edge and Astro Knight, and eagerly anticipating Unsettled and ISS Vanguard's fulfillment. I also have Imperial Assault, Outer Rim, and the original Nemesis that I still need to get to the table.
Love your list Colin. Xia was a mixed bag for me. I played it mostly competitively and found it was a long game, and felt longer when the dice gods did not favor me. Bad luck can ruin the experience. I had not played it solo or go my own copy as a result of that. I backed unsettled for round two because of your play through sessions. They were so fun to watch it made me fall in love with that game and I have not even played it myself yet. Thanks!!
Mate, I absolutely love your reviews! I love how positive you are, the videos from the gameplay, the short and informative explanations and the games you enjoy the most mostly click with me too. Huge thanks!
My over all fav game is Nemesis/Lockdown. I prefer Nemesis for co-op/solo but Lockdown for semi-coop. One of the absolute best gaming experiences I had recently was playing through The Hunters a.d. 2114 campaign with a friend, using two characters (in solo you play two characters minimum as well). We did house-rule that it doesn’t cost a day to go to and from the base and by the end we were quite OP, where we to play a second play through we would play the tactical missions using the 3 setup for a 3-player game once we reached XP Level 3. I can’t wait to tre the Hybrids expansion! One can’t not mention Under Falling Skies when it comes to sci-if solo games either! While I’m not a huge fan of dice placement, this was very fun and brain-burny!
Great list Colin.!.. could you let us know which laser pointer you have? Seems that the ones I end up with advertise as laser lines but are really just a point at the end .. TY in advance.
Excellent list! I love Astro Knights as well and agree that it improves/streamlines the games in all the right ways. Another one I enjoy solo is Circadians First Light. The second edition is fantastic, love the four levels of AI, many characters to provide direction, and multiple paths to victory. Plus an expansion being released later this year adds tons of content that doesn’t simply add bloat.
Again fantastic list Colin thank you for showing! Warp's Edge is a small but favourite of mine too. I look forward to ISS Vanguard in wave 2 hopefully shipping soon :)
My favorite solo sci-fi games are: - Dune Imperium - SpaceCorp - Anachrony - Leaving Earth - Terraforming Mars with the Marsbot from Nick Shaw and Turczi Dávid - ISS Vanguard - Nemesis
Notwithstanding the fact that I'm going to buy most of the game you nominated just for your enthusiasm (damn you! 😘) I was expecting (somewhere) Gears of War (the Board game from 2011). Did you tried it? I'm totally in love, more cooperatively than solo but it's still an amazing game!
The one thing I regret was not jumping on the Terminator expansion when I had the chance. My local store had it, I remember seeing it on Amazon and Miniature Market. What a blunder! That game is fantastic.
Star Trek Frontiers great game. Even though it's Mage Knight it has enough differences to be a different experience. If only they released more expansions for it. They talked about a Voyager one but it didn't happen. Pity. At least there are some interesting variations for it on BGG including a really cool random Away Missions chart.
Great list, here's my top 10. 1. Champions of the Galaxy (1986) 2. Firefly: The Game (2013) 3. Leaving Earth (2015) 4. Room 25 (2013) 5. Galaxy Defenders (2014) 6. The 7th Continent (2017) 7. 51st State: Ultimate Edition (2023) 8. MOON (2019) 9. Aliens (1989) 10. Space Crusade (1990) A lot of my favorite scifi games I have never played solo, such as: T.I.M.E Stories, Unsettled, Nemesis, The Thing: The Boardgame, Star Wars: Outer Rim, Legendary Encounters: An Alien Deck Building Game, or Xia: Legends of a Drift System. Some because I sadly don't own them.
@@OneStopCoopShop thanks, there are many games on your own list that I would love to play more, and my willpower to resist buying a select few of them is quickly wilting.
@@OneStopCoopShop There is a BGG-Solo-Mode for the base game. And exactly this one became an official part of the brand-new expansion Terminal Velocity. So good!
Love Outer Rim, but have never tried solo play. Xia is great. Eagerly waiting for my ISS Vanguard order to arrive. Unsettled is at the top of my "buy" list!
You forgot Firefly, Browncoats and Brigands. While it is intended to be a cooperative game, it makes for a really good solo game. The board and the minis are awesome. The minis are the same scale as Imperial Assault, so I have been known to use them as proxies. It is worth checking out.
My goodness I've been waiting for almost 2 years already for Legendary Encounters Aliens 😢 hope it'll be available in my place soon. This is a great reference list Colin. I'm kind of new to this channel and watched a bunch of your MK videos. Thanks for the solid titles!
Wow, I was expecting not to have much as far as sci-fi goes in my collection, but you've made me look it up and... There actually are a few, I guess? :) So my list... Is it in order, yes, I guess it is...! 10: tie (aw) between Ares Expedition's coop mode, and Bullet, though both are "good but not great" games for me and my tastes. Well, so far, that is, 'cause I need to play Ares Crisis and adjust my ranking! 9: The Reckoners (it's more of a good game than a great one, but it goes down quick with 6 players) 8: burncycle (I'm still deciding if I'm burnt on this one or not, but the thing is - I have friends who enjoy it, so I can let them down, since we're having fun, now, can I?) 7: Star Wars: Imperial Assault (if the app was better, I would totally have this in the top 3! Come on FFG, do a coop star wars, pretty please?) 6: FUSE (too frantic. I tried to play it "one last time" after keep it it unused for 2 years and it's not leving myc ollection any time soon...!) 5: The Crew (mission deep sea or not - the crews! We play once, we play the night. Oops.) 4: Star wars X-Wing (with the fan campaign for the Aturi sector - I want more star wars really!) 3: XCom (such an underrated solo experience - oh wait, I like it a good deal coop too!) 2: Renegade (Mage Knight in a shorter time, just don't play it with 4-5 players if you like to deck build) 1: Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid (I still am not a fan of PR as an IP, but the tension in the game and the card play are really good, and my friends like it, including Terence, so that has to count for more!) Well, that's it as far as coops go! I actually listed all of them. :) We have... 1 crossover, I think? For the same reason, too. ;) Give me Greyport in space and I'll totally put it on this list. :-9 Or a coop LCG by FFG! (Not that competitive thing they did, come on...! ;)
Nice list. Personally my top 3 would be,Falling Skies. The very definition of a solo Sci Fi game,Star Trek Frontiers and Robotech Attack On The SDF-1(although I just call it Macross lol). Mage Knight is slightly better, due to just having more, although people have made some interesting variations Star Trek Frontiers such as a chart for random Away Missions ECT. The Robotech game is a far more complex version of Star Trek panic with elements of Sleeping Gods and other games. Might be something you'd be interested in Colin.
It uses the ship moving aspect of that game as well as the crew boards. It did come out in 2018 so maybe Gods took a little from it. Lol. Then it has the defense aspect of Panic. More technical than that though with you moving your units and using your crew to do special commands. Then it has a campaign book with missions in it so a little like Sword and Sorcery. It's got a bunch of everything from games you have played. It has a bit going on but not as complicated as something like Mage Knight. You might have seen the Macross anime but even if you haven't I think you would be interested. It plays well solo and with 3 people. I would love to see you try it on the channel.
@@OneStopCoopShopnd I just picked up Sleeping Gods myself and after learning it have enjoyed my first playthrough. Only found 4 totems but took a lot of notes. Will be trying a 3 or 4 player ,along with Return to Dark Tower, next month with some friends and my brother.
I was shocked that the first game you mentioned was Conquest of Planet Earth. I love that game! But it's old, and I feel like it wasn't even that popular when it came out, let alone now. It's certainly not my favorite game of all time, but it's a goody!
This is a great list, I had forgotten about Core Space. What about X-ODUS: Rise of the Corruption? It has a long setup time but it's enjoyable. I have read that the devs will be doing a 2nd edition sometime in the future.
Ewweeeeeeeeeeee! Five Parsec From Home completely derailed me. I went down an intriguing rabbit hole that ended at Amazon with the book in my cart. I honestly don't know if this is for me, but I am certainly going to find out. I'm thinking Core Space + Five Parsecs From Home = great time!
I really need to get ISS Vanguard to the table soon. Been waiting for a friend to wrap up a D&D campaign so they have time to meet more regularly as I'm pretty sure we'd forget plot elements if we were only meeting once a month.
Awesome list! Mine has XIA on top! Also i have Red Alert and Star Wars Rebellion. Have you played the FFG Battlestar Galactica? I hear it's pretty good. I might pick it up. Again, great list!
Yeah Battlestar Galactica is not a solo game in any way period. Plus that fact that it goes for at least $300, I've seen it go up to $500,makes it a hard sell.
I'm writing this part before watching, but ISS Vanguard better be in the top ! ;) ---------------------------------------- Writing as I'm watching; So you're telling me I shouldn't have sold Star Wars Outer Rim, but buy the expansion ? Damnit. Core Space looks really interesting, but I'm still somehow on edge with those "expandable miniature games". I love Xia, but I really feel like it's a 3-5 players to me more than a solo one :/ ISS is 2... wait what is 1 then !? Oh okay. Well... I did back the last KS, so I should get it this year. Putting it before ISS Vanguard makes me much more eager to receive it, and your description of it intrigues me even more !
what about the original nemesis, is Lockdown that much better..? I passed on Lockdown as I love the original and haven't played it enough, sadly (especially not solo yet, ooops!).. did I make a mistake? 🤔
I've played both and like the original Nemesis better personally. But if you look online, I think you'll find opinions pretty evenly split on this one. I think my big point would be that if you have one, you probably don't need the other, as the gameplay is largely similar. Looking forward to Nemesis: Retaliation in Q4 2023 and seeing if that changes the formula a bit more.
@@01hornsfan I thought so as well, that's why I passed on Lockdown KS.. recently also passed on Andromeda's Edge, the "improved Dwellings of Eldervale".. 🫣😅
There's a fan made app for Imperial Assault called Imperial Comander, that let's you play any campaign from my expansion box. I haven't tried it, but judging by the youtube videos, it works a lot like the Fantasy Flignt app in terms of controlling the Empire figures. Great vid 👍
@@OneStopCoopShop The new KS (mercenaries) speaks about introducing a solo AI, which has me deeply intrigued. Plus it is quite cheap for a miniature based game!
The ISS Vanguard is definitely on my to get list coming soon. Everything about that game appeals to me. It reminds me of a great sci-fi video game but in a board game format.
oh wow i never even heard of core space! that looks like it would be perfect for me, and best of all.. the fantasy version is on kickstarter right now!
Love Galaxy Defenders. Also was really high on Infinity Defiance, but the rules just never got easier in my brain. So close to being an amazing game. Stars of Akarios would be in the discussion
Nice list. Still waiting for iss Vanguard en unsettled to arrive. Thought x-odus rise of the corruption would make it. I bought it after watching a review on this channel 😊
I ABSOLUTELY agree with your top four! But since you asked, another game which belongs in the top 10 for this category is 'Lifeform', published by Hall or Nothing Games. If 'Nemesis' is the movie "Aliens" in a box, then 'Lifeform' is 100% the movie "Alien" in a box! 'Lifeform' features a 1 vs many style of play, but also comes with a SUPERB solo module where the game takes on the role of the Alien. Anyway, in the first act, the Alien CAN'T be beaten. But it WILL kill some characters, which is why each human player plays as two different characters. (And if a player loses both of their characters, they can continue as the ship's cat or ship's computer). It's only in the game's 2nd act (aboard the shuttle) is where the Alien can be beaten. But the thing is that you never know if the Alien made it aboard the shuttle with the surviving crew or not! Not to mention the innovative card play and hand management... wow, this game is REALLY good.
Personally found Lifeform solo mode to be totally underwhelming. The multiplayer I found to be too basic strategy wise for the human players with a poor ruleset. Basically just not very good. Felt like it needed a lot more development time. Unfortunate as i loved the concept. Sold it and didn't look back.
@@OneStopCoopShop thank you so much, as this is exactly what I was wondering. Love the theme of both, but I am more casual with my gaming and tend to be a bit flighty. Entertainment shouldn't be a chore and I always go for ease of play. Both have about the same complexity on BGG.
@@OneStopCoopShop I know this is becoming very opinion based and subjective, but how would you compare it to Deep Madness? DM looks like it has a huge footprint and a lot of counters to keep track of, but it isn't campaign based so there isn't any between mission record keeping and such. Thoughts?
Great list! I own and played nearly half of it. Uprising is not on the list. Is it because you don't play it solo or it just doesn't make the cut? As always, I really like your enthusiasm!
@@OneStopCoopShop Give it a try, they never made an expansion so it's easy to have all of it (except for some promo cards I think you can buy off the BGG store and a KS hardcover book with 6 or 7 additional missions, which I'm desperate to find but sadly haven't had any luck with).
@@hovhannesbeaver8161I was specifically looking in the comments for this game to be mentioned, and I KNEW I would see somebody mention it. This is a sci-fi staple for me and permanent keeper. I'm totally shocked that the OSCS crew never picked this up. And I remember telling them about it several years ago. Alas, my words fell on deaf ears. I also have the KS hardcover art book with all the extra amazing missions, and it is AMAZING. It's not in print anymore and pretty much non-existent. If I were to sell it, it would have to be several hundred bucks.
It'a bit of mixed list as two of the games aren't really boardgames: 5 Parsecs from Home and Core Space are very much miniature games, while the other eight games are proper boardgames. I would love to see a top 10 solo sci-fi boardgames and a top 10 solo sci fi miniature games.
I feel like I've been waiting for my Xia for 2+ years. Ordered it through the Arydia campaign (which I have no interest in). I wish Arydia would deliver soon!!! 😂
Very nice list, unfortunately most of them are either very expensive or hard to get :( I have Outer Rims as my top most priority, but getting it with the expansion is rough for my wallet. Thank you for the nice video as always, my wallet does not! ;)
Hi there are a few who are not here What about imperium the contention, dd6, star realms, under falling skies, Bossin space? Those are my top 5 somehow But glad to see warps edge here at least the rest? Meh... Minis minis minis f those minis haha
@@OneStopCoopShop but for real this time : Star realms and dd6 have free apps try them Under falling skies has free pnp as well The rest are the only ones that needs a bit of hunting down
@@mabos555 Mike jumping in for Colin briefly, since I've played and covered three of the five: Star Realms - pretty fun and straightforward deckbuilder, but the solo/co-op options are just so-so, so I doubt Colin would love it. Deep Space D6 - a good bit of fun, but random and didn't have staying power for me, so again I doubt Colin would like it long-term. Under Falling Skies - this one Colin should definitely play. I think it's great!
Could not be more honored to be considered along side so many ridiculously great games. Great list Colin!

Oh man hope they come soon! I don't feel any of them are needed unless you plan to play a ton!
I love those 2 just not for solo. Much better coop! Thanks for watching!
Gears Of War is great but I suspect the few copies floating around are probably pretty pricey since it's been out of print for awhile. Then again, most new games these days are pricey so perhaps that's not as much of a factor anymore.
I've found that finding a second hand for GoW has not been too terribly expensive!
Thanks for the great list. I would have expected to see Stars of Akarios on it. You seemed to enjoy it quite a lot during your playthroughs with Bairnt.
Oh good point! Never played it solo so it wasn't on my solo list! However I do really enjoy it! Gloomhaven in space with dice placement!
That is awesome! Core Space will be very similar so maybe try Vanguard!
Nice one Colin!
Not surprised to see Unsettled at number one. The playthroughs were the tops!
Promise I will get a sci-fi game! lol
You better Paul! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Thanks for watching!
After scouring these comments, I get the feeling that a lot of people like to add games that nobody mentioned...just for the sake of mentioning them, so I'll do the same here. I'm proud to state a game that nobody has said yet: Star Trek Panic! Very awesome co-op.
Star Trek Panic! That is a good one, nice!!
Thanks so much for watching!! Never heard of Legendary?? You might want to check that out!
@One Stop Co-op Shop Yeah, I looked into it quickly and liked what I saw. I love Alien! Found a cheap (€37.-), new copy online, so I got it as a Sunday treat. 😊
There also is an X-Files version (next to many others), which goes for insane ammounts of money (several stores all with the near same price tag, ca. €175.
You my friend have a lot of great games there!! Thanks for watching!
Thanks!!
You gotta try xia dude solo is so much better.... and yes for unsettled!!
Love the list, didn’t know about some of these so thanks for sharing! No love for Falling Skies huh? One of my favorites!
I just haven't played it! Need to get it to the table it seems!!
Mate, I absolutely love your reviews! I love how positive you are, the videos from the gameplay, the short and informative explanations and the games you enjoy the most mostly click with me too. Huge thanks!
Thanks so much and glad you enjoy the videos!
I like that if you don't know how Xia works the b-roll looks like Colin is just going "Ehh let's pretend I rolled a six."
Haha!!
So cool!! I still haven't played under falling skies I need to fix that!
Great list Colin.!.. could you let us know which laser pointer you have? Seems that the ones I end up with advertise as laser lines but are really just a point at the end .. TY in advance.

This one is the one I have!
Ty colin. Much appreciated!
OOOOO I have never heard of that one! Going to have to look that up! Thanks for watching!
@@OneStopCoopShop the 2nd edition just released and made nice improvements in overall. Hope you enjoy it!
Again fantastic list Colin thank you for showing!
Warp's Edge is a small but favourite of mine too. I look forward to ISS Vanguard in wave 2 hopefully shipping soon :)
YES!! Both of those are great, hopefully you get ISS soon!!
As a solo fantasy setting player I've been wanting mote Sci fi so thank you for this!
Heck yes! Glad to help!!
Nice to see Five Parsecs getting a mention here. It’s a great game!
I love it!
I went all-in on Unsettled and can't wait for it to start shipping. Soon!!
Yesssss!!!
My favorite solo sci-fi games are:
- Dune Imperium
- SpaceCorp
- Anachrony
- Leaving Earth
- Terraforming Mars with the Marsbot from Nick Shaw and Turczi Dávid
- ISS Vanguard
- Nemesis
Great choices! Anachrony is so good. . . So many good games!
I guess you would enjoy Lux Aeterna. Escape a black hole under time pressure while going through a deck of cards.
Cool!!
Gears of War is amazing! I still own it just didn't think of it as sci fi I guess!! Appreciate you watching!!
The one thing I regret was not jumping on the Terminator expansion when I had the chance. My local store had it, I remember seeing it on Amazon and Miniature Market. What a blunder! That game is fantastic.
I'm playing through the entire thing with my kids right now and they love it!
I love your enthusiasm. Always enjoy your lists 🎉
Yay, thank you!
Space Empires - Outer Rim - FireFly - Star Trek frontiers - Xia - Star Marines - Galactic Warlords - tiny Epic Galaxies
Nice!!!!
1. Champions of the Galaxy (1986)
2. Firefly: The Game (2013)
3. Leaving Earth (2015)
4. Room 25 (2013)
5. Galaxy Defenders (2014)
6. The 7th Continent (2017)
7. 51st State: Ultimate Edition (2023)
8. MOON (2019)
9. Aliens (1989)
10. Space Crusade (1990)
A lot of my favorite scifi games I have never played solo, such as: T.I.M.E Stories, Unsettled, Nemesis, The Thing: The Boardgame, Star Wars: Outer Rim, Legendary Encounters: An Alien Deck Building Game, or Xia: Legends of a Drift System. Some because I sadly don't own them.
What an awesome list! I have a few I need to look up! Thanks for sharing!
@@OneStopCoopShop thanks, there are many games on your own list that I would love to play more, and my willpower to resist buying a select few of them is quickly wilting.
Hehehe!!
Hi Colin, great list! Two of my Sci-fi-Solo-Hits are Jump Drive and Dune Imperium!
Jump drive! I've heard of that one gotta try it sometime
@@OneStopCoopShop There is a BGG-Solo-Mode for the base game. And exactly this one became an official part of the brand-new expansion Terminal Velocity. So good!
Cool!!!
Love Outer Rim, but have never tried solo play. Xia is great. Eagerly waiting for my ISS Vanguard order to arrive. Unsettled is at the top of my "buy" list!
Oh you gotta try solo its fun! Thanks so much for watching!!
ISS Vanguard is my favourite. I have to check out some of the others, there are several on your list that I'm not familiar with.
Glad to help and thanks so much for watching!!
You forgot Firefly, Browncoats and Brigands.
While it is intended to be a cooperative game, it makes for a really good solo game.
The board and the minis are awesome. The minis are the same scale as Imperial Assault, so I have been known to use them as proxies.
It is worth checking out.
Oh nice thanks for the suggestion!!
My goodness I've been waiting for almost 2 years already for Legendary Encounters Aliens 😢 hope it'll be available in my place soon. This is a great reference list Colin. I'm kind of new to this channel and watched a bunch of your MK videos. Thanks for the solid titles!
Glad to help!!
Heads up: legendary encounters aliens is out of print. You’ll need to find it second hand.
@@cincydooley ah that's a bummer, though I know Colin enjoyed the newer Matrix version - Mike
@@OneStopCoopShop Youre telling me. Sold mine when we moved and regret
9: The Reckoners (it's more of a good game than a great one, but it goes down quick with 6 players)
8: burncycle (I'm still deciding if I'm burnt on this one or not, but the thing is - I have friends who enjoy it, so I can let them down, since we're having fun, now, can I?)
7: Star Wars: Imperial Assault (if the app was better, I would totally have this in the top 3! Come on FFG, do a coop star wars, pretty please?)
6: FUSE (too frantic. I tried to play it "one last time" after keep it it unused for 2 years and it's not leving myc ollection any time soon...!)
5: The Crew (mission deep sea or not - the crews! We play once, we play the night. Oops.)
4: Star wars X-Wing (with the fan campaign for the Aturi sector - I want more star wars really!)
3: XCom (such an underrated solo experience - oh wait, I like it a good deal coop too!)
2: Renegade (Mage Knight in a shorter time, just don't play it with 4-5 players if you like to deck build)
1: Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid (I still am not a fan of PR as an IP, but the tension in the game and the card play are really good, and my friends like it, including Terence, so that has to count for more!)
Well, that's it as far as coops go! I actually listed all of them. :) We have... 1 crossover, I think? For the same reason, too. ;) Give me Greyport in space and I'll totally put it on this list. :-9 Or a coop LCG by FFG! (Not that competitive thing they did, come on...! ;)
Nice list Yan!!! Coop battle for greyport in space would be amazing!!!!
Ooooo I'll have to look at that as I love sleeping gods!!
Amazing list. Not really a (futuristic) scifi game but games like nemesis make me excited for the upcoming stalker. I hope they deliver a banger.
Fingers crossed!
I would add Under Falling Skies to this list too 😊
I was shocked that the first game you mentioned was Conquest of Planet Earth. I love that game! But it's old, and I feel like it wasn't even that popular when it came out, let alone now. It's certainly not my favorite game of all time, but it's a goody!
Haha for sure! It's just such goofy fun hard not to like it!
Great video and such great taste, I have played and own most of your list.
Awesome, thank you! Appreciate you watching and commenting!
No. 1 Gaia project 2. Anachrony and 3. Excavation earth. The first two ones I tried only because of Youre earlier top-solo-list! 😊
Nice!!
This is a great list, I had forgotten about Core Space. What about X-ODUS: Rise of the Corruption? It has a long setup time but it's enjoyable. I have read that the devs will be doing a 2nd edition sometime in the future.
Oooo I haven't played that one!
Yessss!! Have fun my friend!!
Core Space led me to Five Parsecs and the whole agnostic rabbithole.
Core Space led me to Five Parsecs and the whole agnostic rabbithole.
I really need to get ISS Vanguard to the table soon. Been waiting for a friend to wrap up a D&D campaign so they have time to meet more regularly as I'm pretty sure we'd forget plot elements if we were only meeting once a month.
I hear you! I'm having the problem with Bairnt!
Star Wars Outer Rim is my favorite. Great list overall!
Thanks my man!! So good to hear from you!!
Awesome list! Mine has XIA on top! Also i have Red Alert and Star Wars Rebellion. Have you played the FFG Battlestar Galactica? I hear it's pretty good. I might pick it up. Again, great list!
I love star wars rebellion! Just prefer not solo for that. Did not love Battlestar but given traitor is not my thing
Yeah Battlestar Galactica is not a solo game in any way period. Plus that fact that it goes for at least $300, I've seen it go up to $500,makes it a hard sell.
LOVE your reviews man !!!!!!!!
Glad you like them!!! Thanks for watching!
Core Space was a dud for me due to the ridiculously long and fiddly set up. It looks great on the table though.
Thanks for a great list. We have a few of your recommendations.
Nice! Thanks for watching!
I'm writing this part before watching, but ISS Vanguard better be in the top ! ;)
----------------------------------------
Writing as I'm watching;
So you're telling me I shouldn't have sold Star Wars Outer Rim, but buy the expansion ? Damnit.
Core Space looks really interesting, but I'm still somehow on edge with those "expandable miniature games".
I love Xia, but I really feel like it's a 3-5 players to me more than a solo one :/
ISS is 2... wait what is 1 then !?
Oh okay. Well... I did back the last KS, so I should get it this year. Putting it before ISS Vanguard makes me much more eager to receive it, and your description of it intrigues me even more !
Yessss!! Not everyone loves unsettled but I do. The puzzle and unique planets are what keep me coming back for more!
what about the original nemesis, is Lockdown that much better..? I passed on Lockdown as I love the original and haven't played it enough, sadly (especially not solo yet, ooops!).. did I make a mistake? 🤔
No I don't think you did, lockdown is just the one I've played!
Great vid 👍
Yes I haven't tried it either as it's a lot of cards to print out! Thanks for watching!
@One Stop Co-op Shop No, that's the RAIV system, I believe. This is different and all digital.

Ooooooooo!!
Great list! Only one I would add: Space Infantry: Resurgence.
I'll have to look that one up!!
Great list Colin! Have you tried BattleTech? Seems like you'd enjoy it.
I haven't! Is it soloable?
@@OneStopCoopShop The new KS (mercenaries) speaks about introducing a solo AI, which has me deeply intrigued. Plus it is quite cheap for a miniature based game!
Cool!! I'll look it up!
The ISS Vanguard is definitely on my to get list coming soon. Everything about that game appeals to me. It reminds me of a great sci-fi video game but in a board game format.
Yes!! It's so good and fun! Just know it's long!

if kdm is my fave game of all time, core space is a very close second. the game is awesome.
A really good assortment of games. I need to check out Astro Knights.
Thanks for watching!!
Oh cool!!! I've gotta look that one up! Thanks for watching!
Core Space and The Hunters 2114 sound very similar. How would you compare the two?
Core space I feel like it's more manageable. Hunters gets very big!
Thoughts?
Shoot I have not played deep madness so I can't say sorry!!
How not to love Colin's enthusiasm? Actually, my bank account doesn't like it at all :)
Hahahahahaa!!!
Great list! I own and played nearly half of it. Uprising is not on the list. Is it because you don't play it solo or it just doesn't make the cut? As always, I really like your enthusiasm!
Oh I feel uprising is not sci fi! Think of it more as fantasy
@@OneStopCoopShop I'll be looking forward to that solo fantasy top list then!😉
That is not a bad idea at all!!
Have enjoyed my first few solo plays of Nemesis Lockdown. Have only won once but it's fun even when you die ;)
It's not about the destination is the journey!!
I’m surprised you didn’t include Space Cadets: Away Missions. Have you tried it? It’s space pulp at its finest!
I haven't tried that!
@@OneStopCoopShop Give it a try, they never made an expansion so it's easy to have all of it (except for some promo cards I think you can buy off the BGG store and a KS hardcover book with 6 or 7 additional missions, which I'm desperate to find but sadly haven't had any luck with).
I'll look it up thanks!!!
@@PublicExecution hey there! I sent you an email :)
Sure to each their own!
