Tips for coloring to actually be enjoyable: 1. use markers, good ones - that way your hands won't hurt, the color is going to be vivid and bright, and the color is also gonna lay flat, plus markers speed up the process. I'd research the fancy markers that people use for bullet journaling 2. to reduce pressure of picking the right color: either lay all the colors out, and pick a completely random one everytime without even looking, for a crazy wonky result, or keep the palette minimal (like 3-5 colors that go well together) and then put all the other colors away. 3. you can fill large ares with patterns instead of just flat colors (stripes, polka dots, eyes, crazy shapes, whatever) 4. don't leave the background white
To add to this: there's an app called "Pigments" that randomly generates color pallets that might help you better visualize the colors that you might want to use

The industry is saturated. When I started as a digital artist 20+ years ago, the competition wasn’t as intense. I can’t put my finger on why, exactly, the Internet changed that, but I’m certain that it did. One thing possibly... in the 90s, the price of software was seen as a lot, since most people were barely learning WordPerfect. Also, you didn’t get a job unless you were fully trained in everything software did. Now, people learn the 10 most used Photoshop tools on RUclips and think they are a full fledged designer like I consider myself. Lots of things along those lines, but the video is ending, so...
LOVE this. When I tried it I realized not all coloring books are well made. You want a book that starts with pictures that can be fully completed in 10-20 mins that then build in complexity. Large white blank spaces I found really unsatisfying and some books have pictures that are not well drawn, like the city picture it can be hard to feel calm when the original artwork is vague. Also, what helped me was having really good pens that have sharp ends and can fill blocks of colour without leaving that weird 'gone over' effect. I had no idea I had so many opinions about colouring. Also this AMERICAN website is spellchecking COLOUR for me! THAT'S SO OFFENSIVE, LIKE WHO DOES IT THINK..... colouring time me thinks.
I don't like intricate detailed pictures. It takes forever and I feel like I'm not doing much but I also don't like ones with so much space that I have to go back and forth with the pencil for so long. So yeah, even with coloring books, you might have to find something specific to you.
Agreed. I tried this trend and found it was overwhelming by the sheer amount of time I was spending essentially creating something that's basically useless. I'd rather be learning a new skill, or a bit of history.
Yes. Sometimes the intricate ones seem like a good idea but when I go to actually color it I'm faced with feelings of despair and dread and generally overwhelmed. Sometimes it makes my head hurt with all the tiny details. I've discovered I prefer ones not too complicated and that I can excape into the world and the stories I come up with.
I bought one of these when they were being marketed as mindfulness colouring books rather than just adult colouring books and I was dealing with bad anxiety at the time. I think the intricate patterns are good if you want to get out of your head because it forces you to focus on a thing. But yeah, they're not much fun and I never fill finished any of the really intricate pages because it takes too long.
Yeah using a pencil to colour these sorts of things makes me more stressed. Lol. but painting em with watercolour is better for me. Not perfect but better.
I feel judged by coloring books because the ones I like are always advertised for the visually impaired or for people with dementia... I just want designs that are nice but not super intricate that I get mad at them

That's an amazing idea, but the problem is, the partner must also be just as interested in colouring or any activity like this. I would LOVE to have a date like this where we just sit and colour, but my husband has a very short attention span. He gets bored easily and tends to give up :((

I'm a nurse and we had this one patient who colored this intricate mandala over his stay. He all complimented him on it all the time. When he left, he left it for us. Sometimes it's the small things
@@smoupnhoize, awww I love that story! I made decorations for the walls and ceiling while I was there. Constructed out of supplies I could use or recycle from around my room. (Laytex gloves, the giant rubber band they put around your arm before a blood draw, the paper sleeve my silverware came in, dessert plates, the cellophane wrap that came around my flowers etc.) Eventually I made a cute Halloween scene for the wall next to my bed and Autumn leaves that hung from the ceiling. When I was finally discharged I gave many of the decorations to be used in or around the nurses station. ~ Later I was approved to make Christmas decorations to drop off! One of the nurses took pictures and sent them via text for me to see. It was a lot of fun! I'm sure things would be totally different this year with covid. ~ Nurses can make a hospital stay so much more enjoyable! Thank you for what you do. :)

@@smoupnhoize wow this is beautiful, I had a very long stay at a hospital from a bad crash that messed my spinal chord and gave me some brain damage. This happened in 05 and I wish I would have given coloring-book instead of puzzles. I now found this and love it as long as pain ain’t to much. Much love nurse! Also great story!
there's lots of ways to get over the stress of choosing colours, maybe do a whole page in shades of blue, maybe randomly pick up a pencil without looking and then decide where to colour, or choose five or six colours that blend well together and do the whole page using them. I've even quartered a page and done each segment in a different colour scheme
I like to use watercolors on my coloring books while I listen to audiobooks/podcasts/music, it's really relaxing and I find watercolor more satisfying than colored pencils. Bonus is you can mix your own colors and don't need a hundred pencils!
@@sierra8802 I second crocheting if the goal is to relax. I've taught both to friends, and crocheting is more forgiving for common beginner issues like yarn tension and dropping stitches.
I had to knit a bear for a class in high school and it was one of the most stressful things I've ever done. I'm already an extreme perfectionist and already very slow-paced at everything (not just because of the perfectionism but also because of ADHD). So when I was way behind all of my classmates, had no hope of meeting the deadline AND my bear looked awful, I hated it so much. That's the biggest problem with school I think. It takes something that would otherwise be fun, relaxing and fulfilling and imposes unforgiving deadlines, forces you to compare yourself with others and makes you feel judged and ashamed for not meeting a specific standard. If the goal was to teach me a useful life skill, I definitely would have been much more likely to continue knitting if this experience wasn't so negative.
I LOVE COLORING! It is so peaceful and satisfying. The most satisfying part for me is deciding which colors to use. I make different color swatches and compare them to see which one is just right. The colors are soothing to me. I feel so good as I’m doing it. That calm feeling lasts all evening!

I LOVE coloring! It’s my end of the day nightcap. I have spent money on a turntable for supplies, clip light, gel pens, battery operated pencil sharpener, oh my-I love it!!
Ya, I grew up in Peterborough Ontario! That's the Quaker Oats factory by the river actually. I remember the smell of burnt oats at school during recess. For some reason I did not like oatmeal growing up, not sure why ...
I was raised with the old time feminine expectation. You will learn the womanly arts... knit, crochet, sew your clothes, embroider, and cook. Garden food and flowers, preserve the food and weed all the plants. Landscape it if you want to. And Read with your spare time. Somehow I learned to visualize and daydreamed what I could make and how it would look. Spiraling thoughts never happened for long. I had a project or a book going, and mindful focus allowed me to get to them with enough energy to pay attention. I remember just feeling so hopeful and light when contemplating it all. Later I used this skill to manage a difficult job. Now, I use a part time job for this purpose, and have not dreamed of a project in about six months. It will resume in winter I think. I know it lurks patiently.
Makes me think of my grandma who used crochet and do embroidery and just listen to the radio. I used to just listen to podcasts and paint the simplest, only motif I can, leaves. Basically just occupy your eyes, occupy your hands. Also, what Chyna said about only being happy when youre good at something really hit me. Its so true for me too, and I never really said it out loud in such a poignant way. I drum, and I HATE to improvise because I cant do what I imagine in my head. It kills my joy.
Yes, i agree... the city scape is too busy...pick a book where you can complete a page in a few hours.... I often use Kids coloring books and freehand draw in mountain backgrounds. One fun aspect is to work texture and shading within the shapes, the creativity goes much farther than just color selection. My favorite books are scary dinosaur color books or superhero books... use markers too... pencil colors are too subtle you want drama and boldness... Markers also give you the ability to combine and smear colors together...
Ohhh myyyy lorddddd the tiny ones would stress me out! That’s why my coloring book is meant for toddlers haha and that’s actually calming because I can actually stay in the lines!!!🤣😂
I am loving seeing all the men coloring in this video! That is so awesome. You don't see men coloring too often. Most all of my subscribers on my channel are women with a very small percentage of men. It's great to know there are men out there that color and enjoy this hobby.
As someone whose spent years drawing, watching these kind of things is so fun. I recommend having one page that’s purposefully ruined, like just scribble freely. Colour it all wrong, go over the lines, test pens/pencils, write your shopping list. It can help people stop being ‘perfectionists’ and If you’re feeling some kind of way you can get it all out on that one page then get into doing what you want to do next. Also start out with easy pages, it might help to feel like you’ve accomplished something. Sometimes I like to just scribble even at 21 and an art major.
I'm only a copy minutes into the video, and I heard the word "talent" or "talented" a number of times when referring to drawing, colouring, 'artistic-ness.' But it needs to be remembered that these are learned skills, that take time to improve. They are not innate abilities that people are born with, they are skills that the great artists we see have spent many years improving and mastering. Anyone can learn to draw, colour or paint well if they put the time into practising, and get passed the fear of messing up and learning from those "mistakes."
Me when Craig showed his highly detailed, intricate, advanced coloring book: 😬 Think there may have been mismatches when it came to the *type* of coloring book each person started with, but super impressed that everyone stuck with it!
I do adult coloring for many years now. I guess if you make something to a challenge everything can be stressful. Coloring is lowering the blood pressure and helps a busy mind to get calm. It is a wonderful to reduce screen time which we all have to much of. I appreciate it very much that you tried it and afterwards decided how you think about it. Many people make fun of that hobby without ever trying it.
I lived in Peterborough (PTBO) for years, so lovely to see you colouring in the downtown and East City. Can confirm the sides of the buildings aren't blue 😉 but I enjoy the creative freedom.
Each individual has different kind of way to reduce tension and stress. For me coloring has been a reliefer. I feel creative and satisfied after coloring. I make sure to do it 2 hours everyday and love to do it 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour before bed 😊
The shot of all the colored pencils was really nice. I haven't finished watching the video yet: finished the video and it was really interesting to see how every one reacted differently with this challenge.
Was gonna close this video after reading it was about colouring books, but then realized this is the most legendary collab I've seen! Love these two channels
Weirdly, I don't enjoy adult coloring books, but I love drawing 😂🤷♀️ Drawing shuts the world out and it's great. Back in college I was taking a drawing class and we had three hours to work on our projects, and I was doing a portrait of Audrey Hepburn. I worked for those three hours and then some, looked up and realized the classroom was empty. I don't know when everyone had left but I had been soooo in the zone that I hadn't noticed 😂 It was nice 🥰
Yessss I love coloring as an adult. I do simple designs and it is a productive form of escapism. For me it's helpful because it's a creative form that isn't me staring at a screen. Overall anxiety reliever, as it funnels down scattered anxious thoughts.
There are also Color-by-number pictures with more adult motives and difficulty. I‘m doing a really cool Star Wars one right now and it‘s not only very relaxing, but I‘m also looking forward to putting it on the wall :)
This was really cool. I think John got the most out of it because I think he ended up with the simplest coloring book and was able to keep his pictures really low stakes. I think that it probably did less to relax the perfectionists. I'm an artist and like to do a daily sketchbook challenge and would love to see you guys try it if you're at all interested. It's one sketchbook page a day, and it helps to choose a topic if you're going to do it for like a month. I've found that it's the best way to get better at drawing and my most meaningful month was a stick figure drawing challenge I set for myself.
I think you got to find your medium too. I found a book I love but hated doing it until I started using sharpies, then I learned about alcohol markers and thats what I exclusive use now! Thats what got me excited about doing it!
Coloring is a mindful activity actually. Usually when people say they can't do mindfulness activities, they don't really have a true understanding of what the term mindfulness means. Everyone can benefit if they just find the mindful activities that work for them. One tip I have for anybody who struggles with anxiety about coloring because of things like perfectionism is to try the color by number coloring books to ease into things. Takes the pressure off of having to select all of the colors.
I came to the comments to see if anyone suggested color-by-number! That's what I got because otherwise it would take me longer to choose the colors than it would to actually color the picture and I would just stress over making the right choice.
I've discovered coloring in March/April and after two and a half months of coloring during quarantine, my mental health was so much better. It helped me to deal with all the stuff going on and my emotions towards it.
You might want to investigate some chisel tip markers for those large areas. It can take forever with pencils. Something like the Ohuhu with chisel nib one side and brush or bullet tip the other end. Prismacolors are higher end pencils that can get expensive, and the large sets often give you way more colour choices than you need. That being said, they offer great pigment and some blending depending on the paper quality (which is usually poor). I would recommend either Blu-Tak or a proper kneaded eraser which can help lift some of the pigment if you make a mistake, ordinary erasers are pretty weak for coloured pencil.
I love my coloring book, but I've learned to be very picky. I like playing around with colors, so I go for abstract medallion type designs. Then I'm not fighting assumptions about what color something should be. One of the ladies said their hands hurt - I found my wrist hurts from colored pencils because I'm pushing hard to get dark colors, but markers are no problem. I had to try out different things until I found my perfect match.
On the off chance you might come upon this comment, I just need to say - thank you. From the bottom of my heart. I’m in my first trimester of pregnancy (which I’m super happy about!) but it’s been damn rough - morning sickness 24/7, mental health all over the place. I’m miserable. Rediscovering your channel on RUclips has been a lifesaver. Your videos are hilarious, entertaining and thought provoking. Your family is the sweetest thing ever and your adorable daughter helps to remind me why I’m going through all this. AND now you’ve got me back into colouring! Which is helping with my stress levels even more! So, just . . . thanks for doing what you do. You’re awesome.
Hey I'm from Peterborough! I'm honored that you've spent the better part of a month colouring my city in. I couldn't find a name for the island so it will certainly be known as Dad's island to me from now on.
If you're worried about the choice aspect, you should try sticker books! It's basically coloring but putting stickers on instead of using a pencil or marker. They're super low-pressure and you get the satisfaction of peeling stickers too!
@@squeezeliz My 5 year old nephew loves them - they are indeed lots of fun. Drawback is: you're done pretty quickly, so a colouring book is definitely way better value for your money. But I agree, it's a nice way to ease into creative pursuits.
@WheezyWaiter: If you want less coloring stress, try the coloring books with numbers. The numbers indicate what color to use, so no stress there. Also, since the numbers need to fit the sections of the drawing, the details are not as small and intricate as in the book you decided to use.
I love coloring. I started it while going through court with my abusive ex. I was so stressed out. Now I do it to relax and manage my pain. The fun part is using different things. I can't do pencils and crayons so I use gel pens and alcohol markers. I listen to books while I color. Or really loud music.
I have a lot of trouble focusing without a visual input - so I bought a book of adult coloring book postcards that I color in while editing my podcast. Then I send out those postcards to my patrons on Patreon. It is a really great way to help me stay on task.
If you use higher quality colored pencils, it makes coloring more enjoyable. You don't have to press as hard with softer pencils and the blending, oooh the blending!
I enjoy colouring, but I have to be listening to something at the same time. Podcasts or audiobooks + colouring are a great combo! I probably enjoy colouring apps more than colouring books though, because I’m impatient and get distracted easily, and you get much more instant results. Colouring apps don’t help in terms of cutting back on screen time, though, unfortunately.
Maybe one more suggestion for Chyna: puzzles. The idea of puzzles seems less stressful for someone like Chyna to me while also obtaining your mind in a similar way.
Hey, You can just pull the foil off the top of a bottle of wine. They aren't on there as tight as you think. It's a much easier way of getting into your wine. I hope you enjoy this tip :)
I have always coloured for stress relief. I used to doodle patterns and then colour those in, using just black sharpies, then I did black and red sharpies, and now I also colour other people's art. Sharpies are my preferred pen as they feel so nice and the colours are bold, there's no worrying about shading and such. Just make sure you have a piece of card between the pages to stop colour leaching through onto the next image. I don't know why there is snobbery about it, it is very soothing to colour while watching TV or RUclips, or listening to an audiobook. Good for mental health.
I have that coloring book!!! (the super intense cities one) It's not really good for short spurts, but like for a half-hour session while watching great British bake off it was great. I'd go one color for a while and then just switch colors
Of all the cities you picked - Peterborough. I lived there for a year and could actually recognise the layout. It is a lovely spot, actually, home to Quaker Oats factory. Best days were “granola bar” days because the whole city smelled like CANDY!!! By the way - I am jealous of YOUR editing style. In fact I intend to copy it. What goes around ... 😂
Color by number is highly relaxing. No thought is needed at all. Just supply the pencils or the gel pens. I think it's interesting that the activities I enjoyed when I was 5 are new again.
I love this video! I really enjoyed drawing as a teenager, but now as a mom of 2 little ones, I don't have the energy, time or mental capacity for that. Your video really inspired me to take up coloring, and now I'm watching this for a second time while taking a 15 minute break, having some coffee and coloring in my winter-themed coloring book. ;)
Have a look for "Ohuhu" markers on Amazon. They are cheap and loads of colours in each set. And you might find then less fiddly then pencil crayons. Big swooshing blotches of colour put down quickly, you'll love it!
2:32 - OMG Chyna me too! I tried "adult" coloring so many times, but I have to test every color in the margin, or separate piece of paper, and plan out the whole thing. Made me WAY more anxious than not coloring at tall!
I’ve been coloring for 4 years and absolutely love it. Its the one thing my husband says brings joy to my life. Also I love that you have Johnny on here. I love his videos.
I cant listen to podcasts without DOING something with my whole body and takes up that extra space in my brain that if left vacant, lets my mind wander or ruminate. I can see using coloring as a low effort way to keep my hands and eyes busy while I listen.
I bought one book, got bored coloring the first picture. I used some of the pictures as embroidery patterns few months later and that was super fun. I guess I needed to find a technique that suits me.
I like to give the homework to my clients of drawing something every day . Best done in a small book. I tell them this book is for you, you don t have to show it to anyone. it can be a drawing that fits your mood or something you experienced that day or something sponatious and strange. it can be a figure or blobs of colour or just doodling lines. it is an excercise that can eliviate the fear of doing something "bad" and fear of judgment. As your friend said, it can be soothing to do something creative that is just for you.
As a person that has been adult colouring for years, I love this video. I don't colour every day, probably a few days a week. I have a lot of works in progress (wips) cause it depends on my mood what I want to colour. I suck at drawing but always liked the colouring part so colouring books are fun.
I remember that as a kid I would only colour in the pictures I liked the best and leave the rest colourless. Now I just draw pictures from scratch so I know that every page will be couloured.
I got a paint by numbers kit for my birthday and once I’ve finished it... I’ll be getting another. I like making things and boy is it fun without having to make creative decisions. Sort of like building a lego set.
I find that colouring with markers is waaaayyy more peaceful than pencils bc its faster and in my opinion more rewarding bc the colours are more solid.
I would suggest trying to color with markers instead of pencils to avoid your hands from hurting 😁 I recently tried coloring with brushpens and I enjoyed it way more because the brush strokes are bolder and easier to color in the big pages 👍
I first started coloring 8 years ago when I was hospitalized. Coloring allowed me to spend time in the hospital and forget about my physical pain. The first book I colored was a Mandala coloring book. It was really a good choice to start. I continued coloring throughout my illness and post-surgery recovery. I have many coloring books and my favorites are still Mandala coloring books. I try to color every day and I recommend it to everyone... 💐
Bought myself a coloring book for Christmas, and haven't used it yet, but just realized the best thing about it - it will (hopefully) help me relax in the evenings without actually putting me to sleep, like I would while relaxing on the couch! This is kind of a big deal, because even dozing off for two seconds seems to be like a power nap for me, and really messes up my nighttime sleep. So happy to see if this improves things in my routine! :)
I'm not really into coloring myself - I already do artsy things (drawing, design, all that) and I find I'm judging myself even for stuff such as bad handwriting on a sticky note, soooo... It wouldn't be relaxing in any way. But knitting and crochetting, oh my. That's so relaxing. Even if I realize it's not really turning out the way I want, pulling the yarn all the way back is almost even more satisfying. But I actually did manage to knit and crochet a hat and a scarf during my weekend Lord of the Rings marathon. I've never been more chill.
We will just be over here coloring to deal with our angry feelings about you not sharing your wine.

I think the real challenge here it's to find a relaxing activity for Chyna, because if I remember well (and I am not an reliable source), all the other "relaxing thingy to do be chill" it's not for Chyna. Sooo, next video do an What Can Chill Chyna Challenge? (say that 5 times fast)

I started "adult coloring" a year ago when I was in the hospital. The nurses loved seeing my progress! Double win. :)
@@yvonnew5186 you sound like such a lovely person & i’m glad to hear you’re out of hospital & hopefully doing well now :) What a way to brighten your stay while you were there - resourcefully transforming disposable items into unique little works of art! Well done to you, we could all learn a lesson from that!
Yes, giving yourself little rules at the beginning of each page takes away some of the decision stress in the moment!
I did that just three colors over the whole page. It was fun but to look back at it gives me a bit of the crazys.
Use a coloring set with only 24 colors instead of 120.
Thanks for the tips! I have so many adult coloring books that are all blank bc it stresses me out just thinking about planning or messing up
I like to pick out some purples or some greens of whether and just stick to them. Nice and simple
I like to use watercolors on my coloring books while I listen to audiobooks/podcasts/music, it's really relaxing and I find watercolor more satisfying than colored pencils. Bonus is you can mix your own colors and don't need a hundred pencils!
yesssss
how thick is the paper so it can withstand watercolor? thinking of trying this :)
@@mewmew8909 I bought the secret garden one and it works fine if you use really little amounts of water.
YEEEEEEES, really more relaxing. I find hard to relax when the colors aren't saturated, and they are easily spread in a nice coat with watercolor
@@estudamarilia4631 Ooh I have that one, and I have been getting into watercolors too. I should totally try that!
Not enough adults draw or paint. Schools have failed us in that regard, by relegating the subject
You guys should try knitting! It’s super repetitive and can be as simple as you want. I find it extremely relaxing
Yes! Or crocheting, as that might be a little easier for a beginner to pick up.
Or loom knitting 😍
@@sierra8802 I second crocheting if the goal is to relax. I've taught both to friends, and crocheting is more forgiving for common beginner issues like yarn tension and dropping stitches.
And then we can make old jokes!
This makes me feel good. People often undervalue the time and effort artists put into their artworks. I hope this video brings people some perspective
For someone who's hearing it for the first time, an "Adult Colouring Book" sounds like it has a lot of naughty pictures to colour
I would love that.

Hello from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada! I love adult colouring books. And now I have to find that cities colouring book you have!
👁👄👁
Makes me think of my grandma who used crochet and do embroidery and just listen to the radio. I used to just listen to podcasts and paint the simplest, only motif I can, leaves. Basically just occupy your eyes, occupy your hands.
Also, what Chyna said about only being happy when youre good at something really hit me. Its so true for me too, and I never really said it out loud in such a poignant way. I drum, and I HATE to improvise because I cant do what I imagine in my head. It kills my joy.
The city book is extremely overwhelming looking to me.
Same. And very unsatisfying result
I have one coloring book that I use when I'm on the phone with friends.. Each friend or group of friends has one page... 🙃
Ohhh myyyy lorddddd the tiny ones would stress me out! That’s why my coloring book is meant for toddlers haha and that’s actually calming because I can actually stay in the lines!!!🤣😂
This was just so great!
Aw shucks, Blake. You're great.
Yeah, this colored my day
I am loving seeing all the men coloring in this video! That is so awesome. You don't see men coloring too often. Most all of my subscribers on my channel are women with a very small percentage of men. It's great to know there are men out there that color and enjoy this hobby.
As someone with an adult coloring channel boy was this exciting ! Someone with a million subscribers coloring?!? yesss!

I'm from Peterborough and it will forever be known as Dad's island to me now
As someone whose spent years drawing, watching these kind of things is so fun.
Me when Craig showed his highly detailed, intricate, advanced coloring book: 😬
Think there may have been mismatches when it came to the *type* of coloring book each person started with, but super impressed that everyone stuck with it!
I haven't finished watching the video yet:
finished the video and it was really interesting to see how every one reacted differently with this challenge.
I lived in Peterborough Ontario for a few years! So crazy hearing it come up in a weezy video
Yes, I love colour by number! There's also paint by number which I haven't tried yet.
I came to the comments to see if anyone suggested color-by-number! That's what I got because otherwise it would take me longer to choose the colors than it would to actually color the picture and I would just stress over making the right choice.
@@nicoleholst0612yup same
paint by number is our new jam!!! too much stress choosing the colors. Paint by numbers is more exciting than puzzles less stressful than colorings.
I've discovered coloring in March/April and after two and a half months of coloring during quarantine, my mental health was so much better. It helped me to deal with all the stuff going on and my emotions towards it.
In the shower you need watercolor pencils.
actually they make crayons for the bath
😁
You might want to investigate some chisel tip markers for those large areas. It can take forever with pencils.
Something like the Ohuhu with chisel nib one side and brush or bullet tip the other end.
Prismacolors are higher end pencils that can get expensive, and the large sets often give you way more colour choices than you need. That being said, they offer great pigment and some blending depending on the paper quality (which is usually poor).
I would recommend either Blu-Tak or a proper kneaded eraser which can help lift some of the pigment if you make a mistake, ordinary erasers are pretty weak for coloured pencil.
You did a quite psychedelic version of Habitat 67! Bonjour de Montréal! 💜
I have the City Beautiful coloring book as well. Coloring is exactly like you describe. I don't ever really want to do it, but love it when I do.
Hey I'm from Peterborough! I'm honored that you've spent the better part of a month colouring my city in. I couldn't find a name for the island so it will certainly be known as Dad's island to me from now on.
You guys making a video together is something I would love to see more of! My favourite RUclips couples making content together is just brilliant!
If you're worried about the choice aspect, you should try sticker books! It's basically coloring but putting stickers on instead of using a pencil or marker. They're super low-pressure and you get the satisfaction of peeling stickers too!
Omg that soundS SO FUN!!!

My 5 year old nephew loves them - they are indeed lots of fun.

I remember them saying they wanted to a video with you!!! This is so fun!!
I love coloring. I started it while going through court with my abusive ex. I was so stressed out. Now I do it to relax and manage my pain. The fun part is using different things. I can't do pencils and crayons so I use gel pens and alcohol markers.
I listen to books while I color. Or really loud music.
“I softened it with a smudge of black, okay?”
The benefits they got from colouring reminds me of the benefits I get from knitting, so maybe you could try that!
Maybe one more suggestion for Chyna: puzzles.
The idea of puzzles seems less stressful for someone like Chyna to me while also obtaining your mind in a similar way.
I usually watch RUclips videos at 2x speed but your videos I have to watch at normal speed so they feel longer. Love your videos ❤
Hey, You can just pull the foil off the top of a bottle of wine. They aren't on there as tight as you think. It's a much easier way of getting into your wine. I hope you enjoy this tip :)
Aww love this collab. What a great 30 day challenge. Fun to think of other challenges like this that would be good for your mental space to undertake.
Love colouring been doing it for years, glitter pens are great. Try colouring Mandalas, great patterns, pretty & calming. Keep going 👍👍
It's kind of a relief to hear how common it is to just want your mind to shut up all the time. I was thinking I was crazy
Oh man, that sounds AMAZING. I want to live in candy city lol
Huge props to Craig for not getting demotivatdd with the city coloring books it was intense and he did the best I mean colored full on cities
2:32 - OMG Chyna me too! I tried "adult" coloring so many times, but I have to test every color in the margin, or separate piece of paper, and plan out the whole thing. Made me WAY more anxious than not coloring at tall!
How lovely. This was delightful. Craig's book looked really overwhelming/difficult though!
I love that. You can find things that work or that you love through so many ways. Hope you've kept it up!
12:33 Try Color by Numbers (or paint by numbers) You won't need to decide what colors to use.
Lool I was in Peterborough last week! Surprising to see that small city Iike that is in a coloring book. Neat!
Oh, that Peterborough shout-out surprised me, I have friends there! 😅
It's my Best when Favourites collaborators colour in :-) Loved it so much!
