Setup
Zeus is in the Olympus, searching for his next conquest until a flashing prismatic light floods the room.
Then enters Odin
Zeus: Heh, Odin! Long time no see. I do hope you have a reason for interrupting my duties.
Odin sneers.
Odin: Duties? Don't make me laugh. I've seen some of Greek Soldiers approached on my domain and I want you to call them off.
Zeus: (shrugs) What can I do? After all, mortals do as they please. Besides, the Norse people could use a bit of culture.
Odin: Perhaps I wasn't clear? *Summons Gungnir in his hand* Call them off or I will force you to!
Zeus's face darkens.
Zeus: Force me?
Zeus rises from his throne and summons his lightning bolt.
Zeus: You know, Odin. You have been so stressed about Ragnarok but don't worry. I'll put you out of your misery.
Love it
@@Bubonic32 thanks
Wiz: Zeus, the King of Olympus.
Boomstick: And Odin, the King of Asgard.
Wiz: Two mythologies where mythology comes to life, mythical pantheons rule, and Kratos absolutely despises no matter what. Both of these iconic mythologies are ruled by the most powerful of gods, the kings of gods themselves. It’s time to decide which one is the TRUE king of the Gods.
Boomstick: He’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick.
Wiz: And it’s our jobs to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win… a DEATH BATTLE.
I think a better connection than Kratos is they’re both highly irresponsible in the actual mythology. Boomstick would throw in the Kratos connection though.
I love the orchestral theming from these mythological matchups. It makes them feel so much more grand.
And as much as I might prefer Odin as a character... Zeus probably takes it.
How?

Yeah, if Zeus wins, he still won't be happy.
Zeus’ ending
Boomstick: Odin should have known his place before challenging the King of all gods
Wiz: The winner is Zeus, king of the gods
Odin’s ending
Boomstick: Guess you could the “all-father” made Zeus “all-gone”
Wiz: The winner is Odin the all-father
The fight just consists of both dropping their 100+ kids off at a playground and telling them to scrap it out for them
Fun fact, there is also a cheat of the same name in the game, Age of Mythology in which both characters do appear in as one of the three Major Gods for each civilization.
That game needs to come back.

While it' pretty obvious that this was commissioned before the matchup was added to the champions bracket, it's still funny to imagine the commissioner seeing the matchup not winning the bracket and then going "fine, I'll do it myself" and commissioning it.
But either way, boy am I glad this commission is now a thing because it's simply *godly* (pun most definitely intended) in how it sounds. It perfectly strikes of a massive scale and intense action with a majestic/noble side to fit the godly status of both those mythological characters. Also, I rarely mention it but gosh damn that track art and title just add to how epic the song is and I love them for it.
Like, it's hard to pick specific segments because it's just a really good overarching theme. The transitions between very majestic segments like the intro up to 0:36 and completely cosmic segment of epic proportions that truly fit the name of "Wrath of the Goss" such as, well, quite a few segments of the track, all manage to really make it sound unique and fitting as it doesn't just showcase those two as all powerful or gentle benevolent beings but instead plays into both sides they have of being venerate grand gods while acknowledging their power and brutality when fighting.
For example as mentioned before, the way we get a very grand and majestic intro that sets in stone the status of the characters only to then transition into the same motif that'll be the very end of the track later at 0:36-1:02 is a great way to showcase that they're still *the* one god of their respective mythos and shall not tolerate anyone challenging their rule, smiting this would-be challenger with all their might as soon as they see a contender to their rule in them, the scales only evening down at 1:02 when they realize that they're evenly matched.
And even after that we still get a very good mix of tense and epic segments to showcase their power and, more surprisingly, their intelligence by having it be a dynamic that isn't all out strength and scale like the opening burst but more tense "reflection" segments that can be interpreted as both of them either conversing or judging the other's abilities to try and go around them. Because while they're "all powerful", they aren't just brutes so showcasing this more reflective side dynamically between more powerful or calm segments is a great thing.
But beyond all that, where the song truly shines is at 2:27 and beyond where we get some of the best segments of any Death Battle-related track in recent memory. The way it first builds up to the incoming climax with this very calm and majestic segment that fully builds up the scale of the track is great.
The song is as soft as can be with only chants and some light backing instruments behind them but you understand from the contrast and the way the chants are done that it doesn't showcase weakness. No, it showcases the raw definition of "calm before the storm" because both gods are simply using this moment to gather their holy strengths to strike down their foe for good.
Which all comes around to the rising climax starting at 2:51 with a thunderous, literally, sound of drums meant to represent their lightning abilities being thrown to start this final clash of the gods.
And gosh this ending is some of the best of any commission track, nay, *Death Battle-related* track as a whole ever. I imply adore how it starts with very intense percussions to imitate the impact of lightning that follows those two unleashing their abilities only to then transition into the true godly aspect of the ending as the chants slowly pick up in intensity as it progresses to get across how simply legendary this battle is. It is one that shall be counted in legends, no matter which deity wins, and those chants are those telling the story of the day when the gods to rule all gods clashed.
I simply cannot understate how good that ending is. The whole thing, but especially the 3:30-3:57 part, is simply legendary. It perfectly transcribes everything that this matchup and those characters stand for without underselling them at all.
And the fact that even after it settles down at 3:57, we still get an imposing violin segment is a really nice way to showcase the sheer presence of the winner that, even after the battle has settled down and their opponent is defeated, still has such an impact on the world they're now the only ruler of that they make the song "continue" despite the battle being finished.
That and it also has the symbolic meaning of being a sort of "new start" to the world after the winner emerges victorious. Because it is quite certain that such a clash would bring doom to the Earth it happens on, having the song continue after the end of the clash works well to signify how the winner would restart shaping the world in their image after its destruction for a new start. And it doubly work as such too as, contrary to the beginning of the track, we don't hear chants for that ending segment to showcase how this "new world" emerging from this godly battle is yet to have stories beyond the one that created it. Just in general it's an absolutely perfect conclusion to a track like this that fully does justice to both gods.
Overall I expected this track to be quite good when I first saw it, but I absolutely never expected to be as good as it. It seriously is now a contender for my favorite Therewolf commission and that's one hell of an achievement given Proof of a Hunter and Ultima Machina exist (hell, I absolutely adore Ultima Machina's penultimate segment and it finally got dethroned as I actually prefer this song's ending to it and gosh knows how much I love it). This was one hell of a surprise in the best of ways. Absolutely wonderful job with this.
As the commissioner I will say this.
The “Fine, I’ll do it myself” is the reason why I commissioned this. Death Battle had every opportunity to do this MU and hasn’t delivered. Now I’m not disappointed in them for it. After all they gave us Hercules vs Sun. That was my main factor.
Everything else you mentioned was pretty much what I requested. Apocalyptic and Biblical.
And Therewolf delivered. Spectacularly.
This comment reminds me of American Psycho 🤣.
Oh baby, this is happening. Whoever commissioned this, kudos to ya. No doubt this is gonna be epic.
EDIT: Just listened to it; suprise to absolutely no one, this was a track worthy of the gods themselves. Seriously, I can't even put into words just how GOOD this one sounded. It rose and fell at different points to give a feeling of grandoise, and the instruments meshed with the choir *perfectly*. Literally divine work here; you outdid yourself on this one, Therewolf.

Going by what i know
Zeus :
+Stronger and more powerful
+Immortal unlike odin
+Likely Faster
= Similar in expirence
-Not as intelligent
-more limited arsenal
Odin
+Smarter and wiser
+Wider arsenal with magic
+Gugnir never misses
-Mortal unlike zeus
- Weaker and likely slower
Zeus:
+ Much more stronger and powerful
+ More durable
+ Immortal and Deathless
+ Master Bolt is much more powerful than Gungnir
+ Zeus is considered omnipresent
= Similar Experience and Skill
= Both possess the ability to see everything.
- Less wise and smart
- Easier to anger
Odin:
+ Wiser and smarter
+ Much more versatile
+ Many of his runics make him invulnerable to weapons such as the Master Bolt, control it when thrown, unable to be trapped or cursed
= Similar experience and skill
= Both possess the ability to see everything
- Compared to Zeus, he is mortal and killable. Iðunn apples are the reason Odin is immortal and in his prime, is temporarily and he must eat more of those apples to keep the effect
- Much weaker and less durable than Zeus
- Master Bolt as a whole is much more powerful than Gungnir
- His necromancy rune would be useless against Zeus being deathless.
- Zeus is everywhere, omnipresent
If we add sleipnir then Odin is faster than Zeus
@@deliciouspotato2623 again, not when Zeus is considered Omnipresent, the only way Odin can counter than is if he is in his throne, which makes Odin Omniscient, he could see everything when Zeus is everywhere
@@Daniel-si7zpSee this is the problem with mythology matchups, yeah some versions of Zeus are considered omniscient but then there’s an equally large amount of stories clearly showing he can’t possibly be so due to the large number of times he’s either been tricked(Prometheus making him pick the worst/smallest portion of animals to be sacrificed to the gods), betrayed(the coup of Olympus by Hera and Poseidon which would’ve resulted in him being chained to his bed for all of eternity if a nymph hadn’t freed him), being unable to fix an issue he wants solutions to because he lacks the knowledge to do so(Hera being stuck to the trapped throne gifted to her by Hephaestus which none of the other Olympians could free her from resulting in them having to get Hephaestus himself to forgive/ free her) or the sheer number of times he’s been caught with one of his many mistresses by Hera when trying to specifically keep those excursions hidden from her.
This is one matchup that I've actually thought about and would love to see become a real thing (we could use another mythology matchup) Zeus going up against Odin would be an awesome battle with both using all their power to determine who's the true king of the gods. Zeus' lightning bolt vs. Odin's Gungnir' would make for a hell of a final clash.
And maybe have a better version of their astral forms fighting

"You know this is not your territory, you shouldn't be here king of the Norse"
"I decided to go on walk,an educational trip.I heard about how you managed to avoid your fate several times. That knowledge is what I seek from you, power to avoid Ragnarok,to avoid death,oh king of the greeks"

Cold Presence! (Yuki-Onna VS Killer Frost) [Japanese Mythology VS DC]
This track slaps as hard as all the gods of both pantheons put together! I'm rooting for Odin, but Zeus probably wins. He upscales from Hercules, who lifted infinity, and try as I might, I cannot find anything like that for Odin. The closest was Surter destroying the realms in Ragnarok, but by that point Odin had died at the hands of Fenris Wolf, who was only star level via eating the sun.
Plus Olympians are Immortal… literally. They can’t be killed, or die via diseases or even by age
@Daniel-si7zp true, Zeus is immortal. But immortals in Greek myths can still be incapacitated to the point that it would count as "death" in a death battle. For example, Oronus had his body destroyed by Kronos, where now he can't interact with the physical world even though he's still technically alive. The problem is that Odin isn't strong enough to push Zeus to that point.
@@masedaace5473 true, Odin is not powerful enough to beat Zeus, he shook all of Khaos with his masterbolt
@Daniel-si7zp I did some more research since it had been a bit since I read up Odins' origin story. Odin has a bit more going for him than I thought. His spear can instantly kill anyone it stabs, and he has a rune that can negate storms, both of which would be extremely helpful. He still sadly loses, but he now stands a better chance.
@@masedaace5473 Greek Gods are completely immortal the spear won't work and Zeus is way to powerful for his Storm abilities to be nullified

This is an equal matchup almost. But Zeus is nuts. He has done quite a bit of unbenevolent things in his time. He would NOT hold back. Odin: "You cannot beat me. Sure Zeus is powerful, but Odin is just as powerful, for 1, we have evidence Odin wasn't just worshipped by Vikings, but also other Germanic tribes, so that means he also has feat in religions like for example in Anglo Saxon myths, not only that, but his power of foresight is insane, but what about Zeus, well if he was powerful, then how come he let another Mediterranean god take control of a Greek island, cause it to erupt and help cause his prophet to run away from his adopted home and go on to find a home for his people, this incident was caused by thee god of Abrahamic religion, not only that, let's compare how this god stacks up to Odin, oh, let's just say they are equal, sure, zeus was able to be the top god of even the Roman Pantheon, but recall who also worshipped Odin, Ah yes the Germanic tribes, the same ones who basically destroyed the western half of the Roman empire, whom Zeus was the usurper of, not only that, but the greatest factor of this battle would the following: who was worshipped more and whose followers affected the most, sure zeus' reach included England, but so did Odin, plus there is continent where even Zeus couldn't reach, but Odin did: north America
Odin created a whole universe of realms, and is father to a God of Thunder who can actually fight with both a weapon and the elements of the storm.
Zeus was born on Earth and needs to turn into a swan to pick up chicks. Odin slams 🔥
Zeus cannot die at all. No matter how hard Odin tries, he won’t be able to kill Zeus. Also Zeus can apparently turn gods into powerless mortals so he just won’t die and can Odin into a human. Zeus wins because he just won’t die.
@@treehouseoffun1242 Then why does Zeus have a grave site on Crete? 💀
He's nothing.
@@DarkoRavens That is literally only on Crete. Everywhere else, until the religion became mostly obsolete, Zeus never died and, according to the mythology, won’t ever die. He wins because he just won’t die, is omnipresent, his blood instantly kills mortals, and he can turn Odin into a powerless human. Odin doesn’t have a way to survive Zeus nor kill him.
@treehouseoffun1242 The fact remains that Odin created a universe, and Zeus did not.
Odin is literally on the level of Zeus's grandfather. Add to that his vast intelligence means he would find a weakness of Zeus *far quicker* than Zeus ever would Odin.
Immortality means nothing if you don't know how to use it. Some monsters got the best of Zeus, and he couldn't get any further without the help of others. If he could lose his tendons, he could lose something else.
@@DarkoRavens He can’t die. End of the conversation. It doesn’t matter how strong you are when the opponent won’t die. Also, Zeus’s blood is fatal to mortals if they simply touch it. It should instantly kill Odin the moment it touches him, and if it doesn’t then Zeus will simply turn him into a powerless human. Also, apparently Zeus is omnipresent so Odin might not even be able to hit Zeus.
