The building has an austere grandeur to it. it is said that when Marie Antoinette went to the Guillotine, she resembled more a 67 year old woman than one of 37, her actual age at death. 79 days spent in that kind off lock-up and under those deprivations would age a person
Poor Marie Antoinette! I believe it was at the Concergerie where she looked out the window to see the head of her best friend, the Princesse de Lamballe, on a pole, being paraded outside her window, to make sure that she saw it.

She had much better lodging than the other poor souls there, relatively speaking. She and her poor children were emotionally tormented during their stay. Death came as a relief for the poor queen...
My understanding is that she was taken from her children where they were imprisoned in the Tower of the Temple to this place (La Conciergerie) for incarceration just before her trial. After being found guilty, she went from here to the Guillotine to be executed. People remarked that she looked 67, rather than her actual age of 37. 79 days locked in such deprivation, would age a person remarkably.
Great videos, so much and valuable information. I rode that before this place, the entire family were kept at another prison called The Temple. Do you have videos or more information about that place that you want to share? Thank you very much.
Wow such amazing content! @utube should be honored
Thanks so much, Itsbillyd d. Glad that you enjoyed it.

And before that I rode the entire family were kept at another prison called The Temple, after they were caught escaping to Varennes.
Vey good point! Must have been so horrific!
In those final days she must have been terrified. Let's hope her captors met a similar end. Though we will never know.
Yes, must have been so horrific.
It wasn’t always a prison; it had been a palace during the medieval period.
So true. One of the most iconic examples of Gothic architecture, the Sainte Chapelle, is nearby. It was the royal chapel for the palace.

She actually didn't see her head. Though she was made aware of the fact by her captives, which was horrifying enough.

I’ll included her cell in some of the videos. I may need to go back and relabel some of the videos.
Perhaps you should have mentioned how old the clock actually was?? Not very informative ?
