- I build and test a new Pre Amp using a none audiophile op amp the OPA2277PA with pre set precision gain adjustments . Can it possibly be any good?
Part 2 now available here • OPA2277 Pre amp Part 2...
When there is such a tight through-hole fitment, use a drop of liquid flux on the holes to aid in lubrication and solder flow.
Good idea, I must try that.
Overly tight holes means harder for solder to flow from bottom to top layer and fill the entire via
Hi Michael, what a strange mix of components. But very entertaining! Off to see part 2.
you have to swap up amp ic! There are bigger differences between the different brands and models than you think.
use an ic socket
to me OPA2277 is no better than any other op amp ic.
One should not just go by age and specification
My favorite is (LT1057) And the most expensive I own.
JRC5532. JRC4550. are the most used out there I think. The LM4562NA is also relatively good
Have you did any measurement to prove your biased difference hearing? if not then its just bullshit.
Hope you can answer me.
Do you remember the Fisher ca-271 amplifier from the 80's and CA. series amplifiers?
I made a comparison between the Class-D and the fisher amplifier.
1.L15D.
2.TPA3116.
3.TDA7492.
4.Hypex UCD180.
I was very disappointed with the sound quality of the Class-D!
Almost all Class-D amplifiers have poorer sound than a Fisher CA. The difference is is too bigg!
But the Hypex UCD180 has better sound quality than the Fisher CA. have!
Hypex UCD180 is approx.
10 - 15 years old!
looks like a very good preamplifier.
I have just found a better one, I will upload in the 5/6 days. Still giving a long listening test at present.
@@MichaelBeeny Ok. you should try and replace the opp amp ic. You will be amazed how big differences there may be between them.
The way the potentiometer works then you get a resistance between signal and GND.
if the sound is adjusted low, you get a lot of resistance between signal and GND. this to get less noise but you get poorer stereo picture and more mono!
I always use 50k potentiometer to minimize this problem.

@@ford1546 I don't know the Fisher products at all. Not that much American stuff travelled well to the UK in the 80s. Over all, I'm not a great lover of class D. Very frequency and impedance sensitive. I still find the L12/2 my current favorite so far.
@@MichaelBeeny Fisher hifi was common in 70 ' and 80's!
The CA. series amplifiers were the series that were most common from fishet.
fisher CA. were neither good or bad amplifiers but in the middle.
The point here is that i have tested and find out that cheap class d amplifiers have much worse sound than i thought.
supper cheap class-ab is better than the class-d for the same price is!
My favorite is Hypex ucd180 and L20 class ab amplifier and
