    I was gonna say that the noise is probably just a pulley with a bad bearing, but I have the same loose harmonic balancer. That made me scared because I got the same issue and it sounds like your gonna is going down the path of breaking for the first time before getting rebuilt and put back in! That's what I'm doing with mine 😄😄

    Dont worry bout it. All 5.3s do it. Just keep oil n filter change. Also buy a bottle of VALVE MEDIC. It quites lifters. It's in a yellow bottle.

    My 06 Impala SS was doing this and I thought it was lifters or a pulley but, it turned out to be the oil pressure pump. Cost me $900 to fix but after that no more knocking or ticking.

    Similar problem. Ticking that sounds like a loud clock. Just started out of the blue...literally. Went to get some take out and the car was running fine. Started it up again and the ticking started. Engine code was P0304. Immediately changed oil and added Rislone, but no change. Still got fault after acceleration, bit not misfires logged. I suspected lifter intake #4 collapse, preventing proper air intake. Ended up bringing it in to mitigate any potential damage. In the end, my diagnosis was correct. Cost at dealer to replace all lifters on that side = $ 2,500.

    use motor flush "motor medic" follow instructions change oil and allow for a quart of rislone engine fix and about 20 to 50 miles later noise should reside....hope it fixes yours ...it worked on mine.

      @90Mrknowitall 7 лет назад +1

      Nope not at all mine is doing the same thing saying reduced engine power won't go over 40 and doesn't go over 2000 RPM could be your lifters man

      if it has active fuel management then you need to have that serviced at least once a year.. the cylinder deactivation requires extra maintenance

    Seems like everyone on here has an 06 to 09 SS. Has anyone ever swapped out spark plugs for cylinders 2,4,6,8 and if so, did you have to rotate the engine like they do with the 3.6 and 3.9 liter engines?

    • @Cuzn55
      @Cuzn55 6 лет назад +2

      Maximilian 7640 did plugs on my 06 SS. You basically do the rear plugs all by feel. There’s no way you’re gonna be able to see anything. My advice is to do it on a stone cold engine. Cylinder head is aluminum, if it’s hot you’ll strip the spark plug threads and then you’re fucked. First step to do the rear plugs is to remove the engine sight cover. Remove the wires. Then remove the coil pack that sits on the back to give you more room. I believe there’s a guy on RUclips that has a 07 Pontiac with the exact same engine and he explains how to do the plugs in detail.

    • @armando1174
      @armando1174 6 лет назад

      Cuzn55 I know the video you’re talking about, I did that exact thing and I was able to do the rear plugs no problem. Thank you for following up with my comment!

      Use a hose, like a vacuum hose that will fit snug on the plug.. unloosen it with wrench, then fit the hose on the plug on turn it with hose .. it acts like a wrench.. hope it made some sense . Like a 3/8 hose auto store sells it by the inches,, need like 8''...
