The transition of weight and the work of hips is amazing!!!The turns are very precise and you can learn a lot about the way to lead and to follow in a couple!!!
i really love denis and maria..for me they are really the best...maybe they are technically not good but the satisfaction of being entertained by this couple is what i really appreciate i hope they'll dance again together...i miss them so much...
I wish the "seven blind mice" who "DISLIKE" this routine, would have the guts to explain to the "sighted" amongst us, just what it is that they dislike about the routine or the dancers? I found the routine to be superlative, and the dancers extraordinary! Loved it and I love them...simple as that. And, I am neither blind or a mouse. ,-}
My IBM Thinkpad computer just caught fire. The sound system keeps sounding out the name MARIA! What a woman. And Denis is the perfect partner for her. Too bad they no longer are a team. That said...Maria and Denis were an absolutely amazing team to watch in competition.
Circa 1992 technique and approach would be just right in your opinion, right? The art advances, and the sport advances whether of not you wish to evolve with it or not. It's called evolution...or progress...or change. The good old days when Ron Montez was king of the roost are gone forever...and I like Ron as a great champion of the past. Acrobatics? yes she shows amazing flexibility at certain points in the routine, but not to the point where it becomes a Cirque du Soleil audition piece.
One last comment from me on this video clip. I am amazed at the inability of certain viewers to look at this "modern rumba variation" and not see it as dancers expressing themselves via "movement with" the music and the mood. If a dancer dares lift a foot off the floor, or does a slow and sultry leg extension that most pro dancers are incapable of (Yulia can't), then the performance is snobbishly brushed off as "acrobatics." Small wonder that Cirque du Soleil is more popular than Ballroom.
Very nice indeed, but it is like so many others a bit too acrobatic for me. I would rather see more slow sensual moves than feet in the sky and other circus stuff.

Maybe not the best lady in latin, but surely one of the best figures! Her body is stunning...
It appears they are no longer competing, pity...
talanted!
0:49 - I love that!

i dunno it's exactly name, but it's a song from michael jackson...
her new partner is a lot better i think. they match each other better stylistically. i find denis a bit plane to watch
yeah I think they might have lacked a few more basic steps for technique
maybe because they changed their routine in 2005,,,and didn't work out for them...
beautiful and graceful, great technique but that super high leg lift was kind of weird and ugly...
