I have had the mini pro since the end of 2016 and it is still working well even after 1,000 miles. People always look at you funny when when you are riding it around though.
It's very quiet. A little hum at higher speed or fast acceleration and of course the sound of tires rolling on the ground. No more than a bicycle at low speed.
That'd be risky. You might be able to go down off a curb with some practice, but going up on a curb would probably throw you off. I'd prefer to just step off and lift it up the curb, then step on it and continue on.

Is this thing fun to ride? I am looking at getting one but I am thinking of just getting a Segway electric scooter instead case it would be more fun I think
Hey Ed. Found this video while looking for answers to the Segway. My first comment is that my family thought I made the video, our resemblance is uncanny, even in some facial expressions. Ok enough with that weirdness. Regarding the Segway. - have you figured out if the steering rod can be extended. I see the hex bolts, but was wondering if you attempted it. - when the app as remote. It works as expected but strangely it refuses to go on carpet. We have wood floors and 1 carpeted living room, and it wouldn't cross that threshold. So wondering if there is any AI that tells it not to. Any idea? Even if I push it in the the carpet, it wouldn't move.
Hey Ed, what a very cool new scooter! They sure have brought the size and pricing down. Seems like a great way to travel, but I can see only able to travel 13 miles and weight limit I see as the only downfall. Thank you, and safe riding!
I'd like to see you use it with a camera on a gimbal for shooting narrative story. Is it quiet enough? Can you use it instead of a dolly? Can you shoot two people talking from the front, that is backing up?
Good idea! Yes it's very quiet. There's a slight hum at full speed or when accelerating fast, but besides that it's just the slight road noise of a tire similar to a bike tire.
I used to own a real Segway (i2) and the Ninebot 'Segway' MiniPro. I sold the big one reluctantly after many years, and sold this one in favor of an electric unicycle. However, there are advantages that I miss. I just wish there was a more robust one that could travel faster (for the price - too much competition in this market) and go over more terrain so that I could use it for real commuting. The large 'real' Segways had off road models.
That is not very tall and should be perfect, I am 6,0 and as long as you weigh below 220 lbs you should be fine, it fits me perfectly and should for you as well
Impressive technology, for both the Segway and the Mavic 2. Thanks for the review! It would be interesting for all to post competing alternatives to the Segway. Two I can think of are electric scooters and the one wheel skate boards.
They're very similar but the Ninebot S is newer and has additional functionality such as attaching it to the Segway Gokart kit. That's the main difference I could find.
I tried to use it on the golf course, it did not finish a round. The range is significantly less. Lasted only 14 holes, about 3 miles on a full charge. Anyone else had similar experience?
Range really depends on terrain, elevation change, weight of the person, weather temperature, etc. The 13.7 mile range is based off flat pavement with a 154lb. person at 77 degrees F. I'm about 230lb. and regularly take this in more hilly conditions, so I don't see anywhere near 13.7 miles. 3 miles does seem short for sure though.
I own a Nine-bot mini and it’s fun to ride for the last two years. I’m 6’6 275 lbs and it has worked great, even up slight inclines. That helmet is nice, were did you get it? Thanks for the review!👍🏽
Apparently they’re illegal in my country but I don’t care I will drive it anyway if your on the road and not paying road tax then fair enough but if your riding on a path then your fine
Some perspective is needed here. Take a walk/jog today and pound out 13 miles. Come back and tell us if such a tiny $500 Segway needs more range. All it would do is add to the cost.
I got the Segway Minilite 3 years ago, love it. Now has 2837 miles on it and still works great!
That’s cool, I would love to have one.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for this informative video. I just got my Segway, and this gave me the confidence to ride it.
Great intro video to Segway riding, and some insight into the handling and characteristic of the model S. Thx
Yo I’m just wondering if the Ninebot S PRO can go on the ninebot go kart. Thanks
had it for 2 years I love it.
I have had the mini pro since the end of 2016 and it is still working well even after 1,000 miles. People always look at you funny when when you are riding it around though.
Haha I've got a few looks, but I've convinced they'd have fun if they actually had one too :)
Is there any noise from the wheels or the motor? could you use it for film & record dialogue
It's very quiet. A little hum at higher speed or fast acceleration and of course the sound of tires rolling on the ground. No more than a bicycle at low speed.
Where i can buy the charger ?
Now the question is..... do you get to keep it?😁 looks like fun and I like how you got the drone out and filmed with it as well
I do! Definitely gave it some scuffs and dirt, so I doubt they'd find any use for it now :)
@@EdRickerVlogs That is awesome!!! I hope to get to your status, some day lol.... :)
How do you stop it from barking and beeping
Go kart conversion kit is sick
Can you adjust the knee stick
Tifani McCaw you can’t with this model. But it’s perfect for people between 4’11-6’5. So I won’t think you need one
Can you go up neighborhood curbs for a driveways on these?
That'd be risky. You might be able to go down off a curb with some practice, but going up on a curb would probably throw you off. I'd prefer to just step off and lift it up the curb, then step on it and continue on.
Nice I am probably getting one so just cheking them out
Great video but you should get the handlebar attachment like the one I have on my channel makes it way more fun

You just ruined a perfectly good vehicle...
the best review ever. keep it up
I finally got one 😊 it’s so fun!
Hey Ed, what a very cool new scooter! They sure have brought the size and pricing down. Seems like a great way to travel, but I can see only able to travel 13 miles and weight limit I see as the only downfall. Thank you, and safe riding!
U can ride it over 250lb.
I use mine for that. I even have seen Hollywood movie sets using these Segway’s with the ronin 2 hooked on a ready rig.
How was the speed? I am asking koz I almost have the same weight as yours.
Hi Ed, do you use this with your camera for dolly shots?
Hi, I never have but it's definitely possible!
What kind adapter do you need with it
It comes with one, plugs right into the wall.

Now I have one
That thing is really cool, but I don't think I have balance to ride it. Great review Ed, I would get one if I was your age.
It's self-balancing.
Impressive technology, for both the Segway and the Mavic 2. Thanks for the review!
It would be interesting for all to post competing alternatives to the Segway. Two I can think of are electric scooters and the one wheel skate boards.
The electric unicycle also. Ironically, some of the 'competition' are using the technology of the original Segway - the gyro system.
Thanks Lillian. I Googled it and they look impressive.
Does the center bar telescope up to adjust for comfort?
No it doesnt on this model
As one of those old farts, I need a seat!
Is this easier or harder to ride than the Onewheel ? Cheers
Never rode a Onewheel, but I'd imagine the Ninebot-S is a bit easier.
What makes the nightbot s better than the mini pro. I dont understand
They're very similar but the Ninebot S is newer and has additional functionality such as attaching it to the Segway Gokart kit. That's the main difference I could find.
@@EdRickerVlogs you can do that with the old one and that one is cheaper and seems to have more features. I'm very confused
@@rinjin658 Ahh you're right, I don't know then!
@@EdRickerVlogs I decided to go with the segway minipro because of the better price. It has some unique features the ninebot s doesnt have.
What's the difference to the Segway Mini Pro?
Ninebot S has a slightly longer range and is basically the newer model of the Mini Pro, to my understanding.
There is a way to make it faster and remove beeps and pushbacks.
Link doesn’t work
I just got one! How do i control it on the app?
It has to be the pro version or plus version

I got one for Xmas!
Same!

Congratulations!
Great video ❤️👍👍👍
Does it work with snow?
Not sure, probably not.
You are joking right?
It does to a degree, actually ... but it is not waterproof - so at your own risk~
At where can i buy this at?
Check the link in the video description
Is it legal to ride this in california?
What Ever yeah
if you go kind of faster, it leans back.... which makes me super uncomfortable. does anyone else's do this?
I hate that the break keeps me from gonna ng fast
That is really cool
Dorothea dix? I was just riding mine there.
Yup, great place for it!

Helmet is kinda no necessary as long as your try and brace your fall prevent hitting your head.
Wait you can drive it like a remote control car with the app
Sort of, it won't go full speed and it won't go up hills using the app...wait why am I answering the FBI's questions?
Lol
That’ll be a fun little party trick

Awesome, glad to hear. The helmet is by Segway as well store.segway.com/segway-helmet-nb-400-l-xl-black
Do you have to have a cell phone to operate the segway, take care virus out there go in,ithink ill not perchase it,not for me ill walk-
No a cell phone is not necessary. Maybe for the initial setup, but not after that.
Impressive!
Can you the segway miniPro
you take a helmet for the high speed 10mph? ;-)
Did you hear him say it was a stipulation to review it?
no sorry, my mistake, I watched the video without sound at work ;-)
ugh. . .looks cool. 10mph too slow tho.
ya Im looking at getting 1 but I think ill get an electric scooter instead cause faster
The newer version goes faster
Walking is what 3mph...maybe? A spring more like 10 mph? Why would it need to go faster?

Not as cool as a Onewheel XR
not as cool as Gotway MSX ;-)
Hey, do you have a xr? Because I’ve been looking for a onewheel for a while but this seems like a better deal at half the price.
It's nice but I never yous I think you better whit a booster Board You're better off
Sure...I should ride a booster board at 70 years old. Why not?

Lol…I wear a helmet cuz I like my brain:)
You aint 215lbs Bro.
You're right, I'm only 212lbs now. Went to the doctor 2 weeks ago for strep throat and got weighed. Hope to get back under 200 like my college days.
Sadly, ninebot refuses to put larger battery, more distance going model!!! S has a smaller battery then the pro!👎

dude i would wipe out
No u wouldn’t

Ninebot S goes up to 10.3miles
