Just a quick something for AMT users:
Since most of our drivers are accustomed to manual vehicles, it does take a bit of an adjustment when considering automatic transmission vehicles like the AMT.
There's something called rev matching, and if that's not done, you tend to feel the gear shifts. Just like in manual mode, when you know its about time to shift the gear (by listening to the rising rpm), release the accelerator gently for the system to get the clutch activated do the shift, and give it a go again as it climbs through the next gear.
Avoid depressing the accelerator to make jump starts (especially at the front of the line at signal stops).
Always be a gradual user of the accelerator pedal.
AMT is a boon, but not a heavy duty transmission system, and it has it's issues. But if you take care of your driving patterns, you will have a more comfortable ride.
This way, the system and the car occupants will find the comfort of being in a smoother vehicle and avoid the uncompromising jerks.

It's a big marketing joke from Suzuki about the fuel consumption between both ( and i have derived both) , it's nearly the same consumption just with maybe +1 liter/100KM for Ciaz !! No big deal at all .... not the big diff to use AGS over 4 speeds normal AT .
I am driving wagon r ags since last two months; and I found it most relaxed driving experience as well as it gave me 25 km/liter of petrol on highway. thanks to maruti-Suzuki for ags technology. 👍

Congrats and Thats a great mileage !! I own a wagonr LXi Manual Transmission. Got 25kmpl on highway by driving without ac and 60-80kmph speeds and very light braking and slow acceleration. Please comment on your driving style ? without ac ?

The problem with the Ignis is that the system seems to have been designed to be attached to an existing manual gearbox rather than a specially designed one with closer ratios. As the leap from first to second is quite a jump on an Ignis, the change is jerky. The system also lacks the creep that you get with a fully automatic transmission and it develops a judder on take up over time. Without a strong creep, you have to use a modified technique for hill starts, finding an acceleration point that the car will accept while you simultaneously release the handbrake.

That is right I am using Ignis delta amt in the last five years. Gear shifts are jerky. As soon as I hit the highway immediately switch to manual mode. That mode is pretty good and useful in overtaking.

i bought one of this ags transmission car for my father no problem when ags actuators get broken i will buy new one gear shift feels smoother then other cars which i drive yet benz s500 2003 accord 2002 nissan 2001 bmw x5 2008
in other hand old auto trans have internal sensors and solonides box of very thin clutches which is hard to repair low torque bad mileage and always you need to remove transmission out of the car to repair or remove oil pan i think its batter to have all electronic components out side easy to reach and repair them

I owe a 2019 Vitara 1400 Boosterjet 6 speed automatic allwheel drive. Perfect allround car. I drove the new 1500 cc Hybrid Vitara with these automated transmission. I will not buy that at any time, its a total disaster as a combination. No match for the hydraulic 6 speed auto.
So the video shows the 6 a/t mounted on the vitara 1.4 boosterjet automatic?
I drive the new Vitara strong Hybrid with AGS since 2 months and it works perfectly for me in city, countryside roads and highways. Easy to drive and efficient.

If I remember correctly volkswagen stoped using this robotic manual transmision because of how unreliable and expensive to repair it was. What's the difference now?
Toyota used this system in the MR2 SMT in the 2001-2007. Ferrari used this on cars in the early 90s I think. But HPU and GSA should be on a sequencial type of gearbox and not a nutral gate between every gear. Race car style

In Pakistani Cultus AGS, there is builtin issue that the Clutch plate / Pressure plate fails after several thousand km drive and gear shift from 2nd to 3rd gear becomes jerky..
Is there a solution to it????
From 1 to 2 still okay. But from 2 to 3 and 3 to 4, the shift RPM is too short/early. And I can feel that the engine kind of underpowered when 2 to 3 and so on... Suzuki SPresso

I am using Celerio AMT past 7 years, 70,000/- Kms. Due to break down, I am changing new AGS unit cost Rs. 80,000/-. Life of AGS is 70,000 kms. AGS running cost is Rs1/- per KM extra. Be careful before buying AGS/ AMT. It is better to buy IMT.
Both are sae tech, Manual mode of an AMT unit is same as IMT, Only gear lever is different

Mechanic ko dikaya tha usne wiring ki problem bta tikh kr diya or sath hi clutch set change kr diya . Thode din toh tikh cali car but again recently same problem aa gayi. Koi solution nahi mil raha .help kro kuch.

Seems Maruti has launched the AMT without extensive test and trials. Problems with the AMT gear (Dzire VXI AMT) I am facing;
1.When the gear stick is shifted to D mode, it doesn't shift to gear mode for about 5-10 seconds.
2. Sometimes when I start the car from halt, gear no. 1 doesn't work and the gear indicator shows gear no. 2 and as such you need higher revs to get the car going even in low speeds.
3. I tried shifting the gears in manual mode but still the gear unit makes lots of noise and vibration trying to shift to gear no. 1.
4. When you are in city traffic I can't put the car at neutral as I have problems restarting the car again and as such cars behind me give a mouthful. I am saying this because it isnt advisable to keep hitting the brakes while in gear mode. But since the gear isn't responding to gear shifts instantly I am forced to keep it on gear 1 mode.
5. When I shift the gear stick to reverse, it makes a loud noise while shifting to reverse mode.
My car is just completed one year. Will Maruti rectify at their cost as it is under warranty and since I have relocated will other Maruti Authorized Service center help me in replacing/ rectifying the gear unit?

People need to be taught how to rev match.
Its still a nightmare to use, with those actuator, sensors, and solenoids. It was a very good gearbox, driving with amt is a pleasure! But , When the milage pass 100k, pumps Stop working, , sensor become dirty, actuator broken, same problem by almost all amt's gearbox. Yet they have to be treated as a manual transmission service schedule, with additional fluids, and sensor to be replaced. And you have to focus maintain the gearbox rather than the engine it self. Its a painful. But yet it still a great box.

Very poor solution for Vitara 4x4, even in light offroad conditions.The smell of a burnt clutch is very unpleasant. Hydrodynamic converter in old Vitara S is much better.
In Indonesia, official garage doesnt even have the oil for this kind of transmission XD funny theyre selling this model..if the oil is not even available, dont ask about the cable or electronics. here in indonesia if AMT got broken, it will be suggested to (since no spareparts for it, then it reads MUST) replace whole AMT kit
What kind of automatic transmission was put into Vitara S 1.4 in 2018? Is it this one? Am I allowed to longer stops at N gear or it should not run at N at all times like old classic AT?

This is the worst technology..... My Suzuki Celerio VXI 2014 purchased from AMW in Sri Lanka, has done only 83000 and this AMT unit is defective as per AMW. If Your company cant maintain the quality of vehicles sold it's sad. At least AMW should be given replacement units for defective items.

AGS is AMT naam badal do people will confuse. in business people say if you cant convence customer confuse them. AGS is AMT I can also say like AGST: Advance Gear shift technology. or Inteligence gear shift IGS.
AMT was so scary. Car prices drop significantly. Low gear 1&2 behave like a beginner driver practicing during weekends 😅.

According to your car manual
There is no oil change required as in a TORQUE Convertor as in A Star.
The gearbox is same as the manual one.

No repair facility / testing kit for checking my Celerio AMT unit at company owned work shop at Naraina Delhi. So, they are replacing new AMT unit. It is shamful to Suzuki for such kind of practice they are following. Present user will affect one day, it is better to change the new vehicle otherwise it would be costlier by comparing vehicle cost. My present vehicle cost is Rs. 2,00,000/- and AMT unit is Rs. 80 000/-. In Mayapuri in delhi, customers are changing AMT unit in to mannual by spending Rs. 25,000/-. Another worst system is the gear box is not useful for converting manual transmission, mechanics are changing complete gear box to. I am posting this because I don't want any body fell in loss.

Why occupants of a AGS vehicle feel momentum shock ( the head toss) while the gear gets changed every time? Do something on this or else your AGS vehicles would hardly be selling in Indian market. It is a very nice technology though.

AGS is improving from model to model . However, one still must keep its limitations in mind. Accellerate gradually. With experience, one gets the feel when the gear is about to change. Note speed/ RPMs and ' release ' the accellerator very briefly at that time to get smoother shifts.
Most Indians never had conventional automatic cars, and AGS is as good a system for them as any;especially given the pricing and availability on smaller cars. That is why they are getting quite popular.

This cartoon is BS. The automated manual cannot be driven like a torque converter automatic or the clutch will wear out in 30-40K miles. When the clutch wears out only the manufacturers authorised garage will have the tools necessary to line up the new clutch plate to the mechanism. Its not covered by the warranty. This will be very expensive! No independant garage will be able to do the job as they can with a manual gearbox. Citroen have dropped the automated manual from their cars due to customer backlash. Toyota and Peugeot to follow. As to mpg, I have driven identical manual (5spd) and automatic (4spd) cars and the manual did 38mpg and the auto 37mpg. The automated manual is a very bad idea and should not be contemplated. Get a proper torque converter box.
