How I do is arguably one of the greatest albums to come out the early 2000s. I hate that the album didn't do as well as it should. It's insane how timeless that album is
I got emotional listening to HOW I DO again. Such good memories! They Say Vision was my shhhh! I wore this CD (remember those) OUT! Such an eclectic vibe.
I have always loved her music and authenticity. I identified so strongly, being a black American female who's first musical love affair was rock, another creation of ours too. Her music is amazing.
Res has a new single out called "Two Black Jacks" (released Nov. 18, 2023) streamable now on most services... hope this means a new album or EP is coming!
Res you are my favorite singer omg! Please keep making music! Sending love from Chicago. That How I Do Album got me thru high school and I still have the original
I saw the video when I got home late from a band gig 20 years ago, and went right out and bought it. At 61 now, I still play band gigs and still listen to How I Do.
I love you, Rés!! How I do is one of the most underrated albums of the last 20someodd years. I think its eclecticism was both its strength and its weakness: it was so powerful, so much a genuine artistic statement of intent, such an obvious work of a massive talent-but also a hard album to explain to people who didn’t understand what the album was. Its eclectic strength was its is marketing weakness, because in 2001/2 ish, women of color didn’t make much music that stepped across the radio marketing color lines. And They Say Vision is a towering masterpiece of gorgeous pop musicianship that doesn’t belong on black radio-and white radio was all about stupid white nu metal boiz and some other vapid crap. The only peer she even had then in the industry was Martina Topley-Bird, who worked with people like Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, but England was a different market even then in terms of the color lines. I’d love to hear more from Rés and Santi together if they could do it. They were magic
This album is so good. I heard Golden Boys while working at FYE on their promo store wide playlist. Beautiful voice attached to a beautiful brain. I bang this album today.
I would always throw on "700 Mile Situation" at 4am after a 12-hour shift driving a cab back when this was released. Instantly chilled... love this album.
💯 Love from #CHICAGO! I was born in 93 and I just discovered you accidentally like last month from a RUclips channel called "rinse repeat" that uploads 3+hour long throwback TV blocks and they uploaded one from adult swim and it featured a commercial that had a fine ass sista singing a dope ass song and I had to know who this was and what song this was. The dope song was "Let Love" and the fine sista was you. I went and listened to all the music I could find. I was enamored when I found out Santi baby was involved. Y'all raw as hell. Shout-out to the Philly sistas 🫶🏿💚
She is SUCH an inspiration to me. I've been in love with her talent since the moment I heard it. How I Do is ageless. Her voice is so unique and she's undervalued. She's been done so dirty, but I love that she has not let that keep her down.
DESPITE THE SUCCESS OF HOW I DO SHE HAS A SWEET PERSONALITY OR AT LEAST FROM WHAT IM VIEWING AND THAT RIGHT THERE IS MOST IMPORTANT ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR HAVING MAJOR EXPECTATIONS FOR YOUR DEBUT ALBUM 💿
I'm convinced the album didn't do well because it was meant for the writer of the album to keep for herself. Santi Gold wrote and co wrote all of the songs and shes a signer who should have recorded the album herself.
Fr… Say it Anyway is a pure Santigold track 😂 im now thinking of an alternate universe where Santi recorded this album herself… I can’t envision it though because Res is much more aligned with RnB while Santi is pop.
Res and Santigold were underrated artists and before their time. I still listen to How I do.

Totally agree
My favorite songs from that album are Ice King, Let Love, and Tsunami
I have been listening to Res for years and love her amazing, powerful, and captivating voice. My favorite song is 'For Who You Are'.
Res is amazing. Still love playing Tsunami on acoustic. Beautiful song. Great album!

I LOVE her! That entire album was 🔥!!!! She is so deep and dope!
Man, still beautiful as ever!
I have always loved her music and authenticity. I identified so strongly, being a black American female who's first musical love affair was rock, another creation of ours too. Her music is amazing.
Res is may favorite singer. SOOOOO underrated it's confounding.
My favorite album!
One of the best albums of all time. Like wow insane

This is an excellent album. And the track “they say vision” is a sonic epic.
I absolutely love Res and I can't wait to see her in concert at the STL City Winery!

Dope album
It makes me sad that Res wasn’t a bigger star. The album is fantastic and way ahead of its time.
"...victory is sweet. But I ain't scared to loose..." I still love 'How I do'
I love you, Rés!!

"How i Do" was a great album. Way underrated. She even sung on Gza's album and song Beneath the Surface.

Black Girls Rock is just as good as How I Do.
My Favorite album!
