Nobody is going to start a coup to win a billion dollar bet. @@zirconiumdiamond1416 the more bullshit the political system becomes the easier it is to do exactly that, idk what world you live in but to me it looks like the US has had money pumped into it in order to buy media and politicians who are creating an environment that is gradually shifting public opinion and discourse in their favor in order to do exactly that for the last few decades now and things are at an all time low for American democracy with traitors and criminals holding positions of power all over the place because of it.
Basically a betting website, with derivatives standards in place. If one side is tilted heavily, the only way for them to gain protection is through themselves buying more of the popular choice. This cuts the potential winning percentage in the future and propels people to pick the opposing side.

Twitter was inundated with Polymarket ads in the U.S. in the week or so before election day SPECIFICALLY SHOWCASING the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election outcome "event". It was proudly proclaiming Trump would win.
no wonder low information bros that voted for Biden turned around and voted for Trump this time. The disinformation this election was fucking wild. There is no stopping it, not when billions of dollars can be made.
Just so yall know, doge isn't actually a government body or regulator it's just a commission. Effectively a toothless group of people who can offer advice on spending and regulations Congress (body that controls the purse) would have to approve and then pass into law. Iirc, this committee won't have any kind of report until 2026
Sounds like a loophole where Musk is still part of the cabinet but skirts law by being an advisory group. Either way the entire premise is insane and malicious.
Glad I didn't use a VPN, create a crypto wallet, and buy usdc to transfer to an anonymous wallet to deposit in polymarket in order to pay for my new tiny house.
I assume the main drama is that it didn't get the regulatory thingies as it should before operate. It's all laughs and "freedom" till the lack of capital backing the bets and bots from themselves virtually pumping stuff explode in the face of dozens of citizens that get their money wiped out, then the message is "wow how does the government allows this :O" what a BS and double standards
Its always funny to see crypto/tech bros "inventing" things that already exist. This is literally just unregulated betting, the only difference is instead of handing a wad of 20s to a bookie in a smoke-filled backroom you are swiping your credit card on an AWS shard.
Nobody claimed to invent something completely new here, the "new" in this stems from the fact that now people can't just fraud you, a computer verified contract will ensure you receive your money if you win.
It is a gift. The polymarket is pretty much controlled by the uma which has all voting power and will try to flip certian predictions so they can win, that is how polymarket makes money. It is quite risky betting on stuff over there that isn't based on elections kr something. The biggest ones where this happened was with the Iran war and oceangate.

Polymarket seems to have a high tech sheen but it's still gambling.
Scams are the only use case I've seen for crypto. Almost twenty years of hype for a technology that only served to enrich people who don't like to do honest work.
Crypto is also useful for prediction markets like Polymarket. Prediction markets are useful because they yield more accurate predictions about the future.
@@SuperM789 its not anonymous and anybody who thinks it is, have never used crypto other than on an exchange like Coinbase. its an entirely public ledger, that's the point of a blockchain. if you send me $100... your wallet loses $100, and mine gains it in the same instant. its not hard to prove. anonymity via obfuscation is not anonymity.
This “perfect predictor” follows the same logical fallacy as US capatalism. Its sole interest is monetary movement, not actual accuracy to the most important issues.
It encourages honesty. It's easy to say Harris is going to win out of wishful thinking or to try to influence people; it's harder to do it knowing that you will financially harm yourself if you're lying.
Let's not pretend regulators really do anything to help the little guy. In fact, they are often bought and paid for by the industry they regulate (see FDA LOL). The SEC and the like pick and choose things to prosecute on - usually someone or something they just don't like. Do you need a regulatory body to help you when you pick a car company to buy from? They why do you need a regulator to tell you that you can't trust a trading/market site? If they're untrustworthy, why would you use them to begin with? If they wrong you, then you can sue them for damages. There is little of the "free market" left in the USA, and the bureaucratic state will make sure of that.

If it was possible to start a coup in the US for less than a billion dollars, Russia, China, and especially Iran would have already done it, no betting required; they would gladly spend a billion bucks to throw the US into a few years of chaos.
@@zirconiumdiamond1416 I'm more looking at what the US MIL complex will do. Like if their billions against or even teamed up with Chinese billions to completely rofl stomp entire nations - war and conquest the same as WW1 or even Napoleonic wars, but funded by tech bro crypto, because its cross borders and cannot be regulated and is as real as the guns that back it up, or the material goods that people purchase from it.
