I have been saying since the beta 2 (I think thats when catalyst first was shown?) that the hammer orb skills should be the profession mechanic and I feel so validated now hearing teapot say it as well xD
True. A big portion of Catalyst's new mechanics are tied to the new weapon and that doesn't feel great. Same could be said about Vindicator (with its F2 only works for new legend) and to a lesser extent Untamed. You can be a dagger focus Weaver (or Staff Weaver previously), Dwarf/Demon Renegade etc, but not really for Catalyst/Vindicator.
Vindicator would be cool if instead of jumping you turn into a legend spirit for a second then turn intangible like a mirage and gain superspeed. The leaping mechanic would a a good ultimate ability where you stance determines if it does damage or heals.
damn, shocked by your Bladesworn placement. I thought as far as theme and playstyle it was like S+, super unique, fun, nice fresh animations. I loved to see it.
i would LOVE to see one of these but instead looking back at what we had over the previous expansions. maybe only the first 2 tier lists could acc be viable for a bid like that but either way would love to see it
I'm fine with the mechanist spec, its simplicity is a welcomed change for engineer players. Current engineer is already underperforming from all the nerfs it's gotten, especially if you compare it to other classes who take less skill to play like warrior and necromancer.
For power engineer a lot of the power comes from utility skills from Holo (laser disk, elite) and Scrapper (shredding gyro) and belt skills, Mechanist loses belt and only gains signets, so new mech skills needs to be crazy to make up to be viable. Besides power mechanist will end up using rifle + kit swapping anyways, it's not going to be simpler than sword Holo. For condi engineer there is only one full DPS trait line (firearms) and so much power comes from kit swapping. So while you get competitive DPS condi rotation is still going to be complicated as hell. It needs a new weapon with a great condi based auto attack chain and nerf kits to be simpler.
@@90Rush While your comment makes sense, conclusion I made was literally the opposite. I belive that engi need his kits reworked, especiall tool kit, as I think it was to meant 1h mace+shield, and now we bassicly get exacly same thing. I saw once some1 using it to repair his turrets. I would love much more the idea of toolkit being turrets support, so you can overcharge them again and do other stuff. Personally I think similiar thing should happen to bomb kit. Its just such a weird koncept to run around map and just put bombs under your own legs and wait for it to explode so you kill stuff.
The harbinger should've gone more with the witch doctor theme where instead of having blight you drain your health using potions to give allies boons and damage enemies. You can heal by using one handed sword and shroud abilities on enemies. The shroud wouldn't act like a second health bar. Having the power to summon the dead and using pistol is stupid. The Dodge mechanic could be some type of shadow dash that heals when you go through an enemy.
Hard days ahead to get back into GW2 and find myself a Vindicator Enjoyer. I did often scratch my head at why I always seemed to be the only one in PUGs.
Love rev, it is my main, was so hyped for gs rev new elite and was just massively let down. Its literally core rev with 2 new legends, which you'll only want to actually use one of in endgame pve. And not to mention it suffers the same curse as power ren of only being good on large hitbox... literally all I wanted was a small hitbox pure power dps and this did not deliver at all. But hey, if you take dwarf as other legend you get to roleplay budget firebrand, dps tome, heal tome, damage reduction tome
Single target support of the theif could have been included in druid, I think. Like, the 1 of staff should focus a player, with bigger support, and the beam between the target and the caster should have a very low support for who's crossing it. Also, 1 and 3 of the celestial form should also target 1 player, with maybe a focus mecanism on it to increase the heal over time. My idea: Let the Druid become an *amazing* 1 target support and a ok 5 target support. Meanwhile, bring back Tempest heal from the dead, with more options to do some heal bursts (Overload water should burst its heal on activation, not after an interruptible 5 seconds focus). We need more options on how to support other players. We need differents approaches on healing, depending on which professions we choose to use.
Catalyst & Untamed are the biggest disappoints that I hope they fix before launch. Virtuoso was on that shit list until the 2nd beta where they pulled off the 180 and made it actually fun to play. So hope springs eternal.
as a mes player I like virtuoso, but it should have been a dmg overload since you give up your only defensive mechanic. would have preferred if it interacted directly with other players skillbar like it did in gw1. rn mirage gets 4* the dmg from condi ambushes. and you don't get alacrity. the last shatterpam build from chrono got buried. specter is cool, but too strong imo. think it is a choice they shouldn't have made. harbinger needs more dmg on the shroud too or else it won't make up for lost health+ the missing auto health regen is another downer. bladesworn is cool, but lacks proper design. as it is zerker gonna be able to dish out the dmg quicker and eventually even kill the target before bladesworn gets out his burst. Mech a.i. is dumb and you handicap yourself imo. you can't control the dmg output and the mech also got way too much hp for its dmg output. vin is a nice idea, but sucks for pve imo. I like the idea of having a third skill set to switch too tho. it allows a stronger support spec and also a more direct dmg type of play. untamed seems nice on paper, but you got the same issue as mech with a.i. behaviour. that's why soulbest is propably more played in open world than druid, because you can get rid of your pet. catalyst is strong, but hard to play. think it feels more like a better tempest. willbender is a nice idea, but cfb provides more dmg in the same timeframe in an aoe area where willbender has to deal way more dps to even out.
It doesn't improve it though, it slaps a totally random one on top. Untamed actively makes ranger better and has some pretty cool mechanics with ambush and the pet skills.
@@MightyTeapot i wasn't super serious, but you're right. untamed is basically ranger 2.0 and how base ranger would be in a perfect world. catalyst kiiind of adds a reason to use specific attunements instead of "i need the other damage spells". that's how ele should be too, but it's a stretch to call it improving core mechanics. eles core is just super basic. it's 4 sets of 1-5 skills with no inherent synergy, so pretty much anything will feel like slapping something random on top.
I'm of the same opinion. Lately I've just been doing dailies in wvw and slowly working towards the vision legendary. Bought lost ark since it starts next month, also swtor expansion is next month too, so even if EoD doesnt hold my interest, I'd still got options.
Can relate. Used to be my home, but it slowly faded away and I no longer play it, at all. I totally lost myself on ffxiv. I might give EoD a shot, but the hype is pretty low compared to what I used to feel :/
I had two revs I played all the time until i tried out vindicator lol like the rough idea of the alliance stance is cool, but it feels like a way too big of a mashup of ideas that just don't work together or really make a lot of sense. Like the class has no purpose or role and the alliance, GS, and dodge don't really have any clear strengths.
Greatsword for Vindicator is awesome... But the swapping alliance stance on skills is clunky. Virtuoso made me want to play mesmer, in the beta it literally just felt like pure constant offence, swords flying EVERYWHERE.
Eh, just play GS+Sw/Sw Domi/Duel/Illu core mesmer, or power chrono. Not quite as much variety if you're forced to stay at range compared to GS+D/Sw but fundamentally it's almost the same.
i think revenant new elite would been better if they split the channel person into 2 different channel people that way have one support and other dps but have same trait line. i feel them putting together and having flipping skills is not great
Should also run a list on how many names fit each specialization. I daresay that B-S bracket would be really roomy, and rest safely upon the solid foundation of D-. Also to quickly add, I think this round actually had pretty poor ideas overall. Like, most of them can be fun, but I feel like a lot of them have shaky theme realizations or are just trying to force a gameplay for that class, with the theme slapped on top. If I'm really thinking about it, only Machinist and Spectre might fit, maybe Untamed. I know they've tried to lore it, but like... who in the actual world would call their style Catalyst? "What are you a Harbinger of again? Green?" I'm sure, but I'm probably being a bit too harsh. :p
I disagree with the Vindicator. Thematically, it's really awesome swapping back and forth between two legendary plus the grand entrance -- it's pretty neat, that's an S-tier. However, the mechanics of it is really clunky and most of the time, unresponsive and confusing -- that's an F-tier to me since they failed to deliver. It doesn't flow very well. Same goes with Untamed, the theme is cool (low S-, high A tier), but the implementation of the mechanics are horrible -- that's one fat F-tier.
The funny thing is specter is gonna worst one and not many or no groups will ask for it. They removed the Insta ress thing in terms of getting in shroud and Insta ressing and also they don't want it to do quick so 5 man alac with low dps will be ehhhh. Best I can see it being is spam barrier on people and alac supporty build with good ressing capacity. But gladly I will be wrong when it comes out
For coolness in concept(not necessarily abilities), for me, S: Specter(maximum edge lol) Mechanist A: Bladesworn B: Harbinger, Vindicator(only this high because I imagine a Dragoon from FF), Willbender F-: Untamed(all I see is farts), Virtuoso(turned the most unique class super basic IMO) and Catalyst(Why? Weaver again. Can the mage be a mage for once? Lol)
I think the mechanist idea and the gun blade idea were both origoanly for enginier but they decided on mechanist but because they ahd puit so much work into the gunblade idea they just gave it to war for no other reason than not wnating to wait till the next expac to use the idea, I like the idea of the mechanist but enginier really really should have had the gunblade
Biggest disappointment for me is Vindicator. Its basically what Herald should had been with a jump gimmick because FF has Dragoons. I don't even dislike how it plays, just don't see what it brings for anything end game related that can't be filled by something else without a clunky dodge mechanic slapped on it. Also hard agree with you on Mecanist. Its either going to be trash in PvP or be the most toxic "me far" build in the game. Sadly for me my 3 most played Classes are Thief, Rev and Engi so only thing i actually look forward to is Specter.
Hmm, what if the golem gets reworked similar to pets in wow... has 90% dmg reduction from aoes and gets a stacking dmg reduction stack for each target that attacks it, making it allmost invulnerable if it is targeted by a zerg in WvW... or something similar to that?!?
Every class should have a AI spec - for some chill story, open world and as easy dps builds for beginners, not super high dmg but respectable. Integration!
@@beneteus3833 The first few wings literally only take practice. They are hard to get into, as ppl in lfg require you to already have experience, but not that hard to do. If you look out for training groups/guilds and are willing to join discord if possible its a walk in the park. And AI specs, being something that requires less player input, should never be viable in high end content like raids. Also im pretty sure no1 struggles with open world content unless you re on a 10 lvl higher area for no reason or trying to solo champion mobs.
I'm a warrior main and I'm so far from a weeboo I'm really not looking forward to this spec. Wish we had dual pistols theme instead of this stand still and role play
You try to rate design but argue about what you dont like? The design is Vindicators strongest point. The argument you need to have the alliance spirits eqiped is invalid, since they stritcly try to not have the renegade problem again (running renegade but not their legend). Getting 2 bars of utility is so good, and they even let you swap now. Also: Those are the legends who killed Shiro the first time, working as a team. Now they do it again, possible along side the shiro legend is sick AF.
I don't think running renegade without the legend is a problem, in fact it's the opposite of a problem. Tying skills and spec together is not great imo as it can lead to very low build diversity as half your skills will be mandatory. That isn't the case now with vindicator as the alliance stance skills are not super strong but still. I don't like vindicator's theme and I don't like the design either, dodge roll mechanics are a bad idea and always have been -> mirage and daredevil are very good examples of why.
As one whom didn't have the time to play around with the new elite specs, can someone answer the question of, when the new release is out. Will we need to make a new character to use the new elites or will it carry over into the existing characters? Maybe the answer is already in the forums but, I'm too lazy to do that research within the forums.
Hammer on Ele was a very terrible choice. But that boat has sailed, they made a decision, they stuck with their guns, and although it was the least welcomed by the community (based on RUclips likes/dislikes, and reddit meme threads, as compared to the other specs), not enough people care about ele, so ANET just rolled with it because the hammer is very underused in general and they are trying very hard to make it a viable weapon.
@@smoov5046 Dont get me wrong i think those spells on hammer are even kinda cool althout I would love for hammer to be more range as on revenant. But the problem that I have with it that they didn't put those cool orbs on other weapons for example on weaver u get sword but your spell number 3 changes on each weapon. So I would love if they would just added some similar orbs to staff 3 scepter 3 etc I u know wat I mean so It would give us more versatility.
@@kodlo007 Honestly the orbs could have been GM traits related to stance dancing the F5 considering how bland it is by itself. Hammer could still have a special interaction e.g. the barrage just like holosmith sword is the only weapon to benefit from heat (not that that was particularly well received back in the day).
I hate Bladesworn. It feels spammy, It feels clunky, I hate the new weapon. But what I hate most about it is the fact that it's just another pdps spec. The next bannerslave probably. They're such a boring mechanic and take up two utility slots..
As a thief main, I feel Specter is complete garbage. It has next to no cleave and the targeting sucks ass. The support also sucks. It doesn't even get all of the boons it gives allies and some of the ones it does get don't really benefit thief much at all (alacrity). We haven't had a decent spec since Daredevil.
Man... I didn't realize until now how strongly I disagree with you on so much it hurts. It's like finding out your long lost favorite cousin joined a terrorists group. Well maybe not that bad. I would say, they should have gave Specter a offhand Focus instead of a main hand Scepter. They should have gave Willbender a main hand focus instead of offhand Sword, and they should have gave Harbinger a different name and either an offhand Axe, or a Rifle. That would increase the cool factor factors, at least for me. I do agree that Untamed should have been core Ranger, but definitely should not be an elite spec. The pet skills look terrible.
untamed is 100% bottom tier. Moving pet commands like attack/follow to another bind, making it so your years of muscle memory went to shit. The unleash attack cooldown is not intuitive, you have to be looking out for the buff to be up. Skills didn't feel satisfying to press, weaver is a much better way of constantly swapping attacks. Swapping between a dark green hammer and a brighter green hammer skills that does something slightly different...idk
I'm glad for Teapot and other peeps who seem hyped and like the specs. Personally, I was not hyped by a single one. All of them seem half-baked, disjointed and poorly thought-through both in mechanics and identity. I'm actually on the fence if I'm gonna buy the expac or not. Would just the mediocre story and a few zones be worth my money? Maybe, but idk, probably not. Edit: honestly, I'm seeing a Deadeye-level ground up rework coming to at least half the EoD specs like 3 months after release. If Anet is interested in making quality designs, that is.
@@ok_listen Honestly, it seems like they spend way too much on the thief before considering the other professions lol Daredevil is really fun to play and Deadeye was pretty unique, and now Specter seems to be at least imo the best new ESpec
Lex I can kinda agree with your take... the specs except spectre arent giving us anything that new (maybe virtuoso as well) but I would say I u enjoy GW2 and want to play it its kinda no-brainer in deciding if to buy since its not that much money for a lot of content.
The problem with this is, that there are already 2 elite specs, that third one will always be compared to them. And while stuff like Thief new Especc is something very new and very fresh, stuff like new Ele espec is just ok. It doesn't change the rules like two previous. But I belive after the recent adjustments most of the speccs will be ok. I don't like personally warrior, becouse IMO he just get new personal weapon. But other than that, it seems ok to me You can't always top yourself :D
Elementalist is hot garbage, especially with hammer, probably going to see some specs using other weapon sets with catalyst traits unless they rework entirely how hammer plays and fix it.
Please read this in a friendly tone. if you think untamed has better cool factor than vindicator, then you have a bizzare understanding of what's cool what's not. untamed has no cool factor whatsoever. not even D level.
The Catalyst should of ditched the 4 elements. All 4 have the exact same mechanics, it's boring. Especially when you notice how different the Firebrand is compared to a DH.
If you are puttng Virtuoso in A tier in terms of PvP effectiveness, you are outrageously delusional. It is repulsive that A net primarily listens to Teapot in terms of balance and literally no one else. All PvP is a competition of capitalizing your advantages against your enemies advantages, and minimizing your weaknesses and maximizing theirs. And Virtuoso has literally no advantages against other professions it can leverage.
I think the dodge attack on Vindicator should actually be on F2-F3 or something, not replace the dodge itself... it leaves you too vulnerable, and you need to build too much around gaining endurance... ARENANET PLEASE CHANGE THIS
Harbinger F tier in every category for me as necro main, it's just necro/engi/teef mixed together instead of a "specialization", seems very confused and spread out. It's like they had a brainstorm session and included everything that came up lol. Kungfu, gunslinger, martyr, elixir and too close to core necro shroud as far as the damage factor. It's like a mix of 4-5 different ideas that end up giving nothing specific in terms of gameplay most of the damage is still gonna be from shroud 1 like core was. Mobility is nice and necro definitely needs it but elixirs don't complement the mobility. They should have focused on 1 idea instead of 5.

Most of them are garbage this time. ANet drop the ball in a rushed expansion delivered after two years thinking in not delivering a new expansion just to u-turn.
Untamed should be D tier tbh for coolness and design. It was supposed to be the pet spec, and it really does not go into it enough. It has no identity to it. It is honestly the worst spec they have ever made. This tier list is trash lol, what are you on? Like what on earth, what is the fantasy, the ambush was added on at the end, it feels wonky af, it is absolutely horrible, and then you said the TRAITS are cool??? They are literally the worst traits they have ever made hahaha. Like what on earth Teapot. And then you put Catalyst also in B tier? Those 2 should have been D tier EASY.

But gladly I will be wrong when it comes out
For coolness in concept(not necessarily abilities), for me,
S: Specter(maximum edge lol) Mechanist
A: Bladesworn
B: Harbinger, Vindicator(only this high because I imagine a Dragoon from FF), Willbender
F-: Untamed(all I see is farts), Virtuoso(turned the most unique class super basic IMO) and Catalyst(Why? Weaver again. Can the mage be a mage for once? Lol)
I think the mechanist idea and the gun blade idea were both origoanly for enginier but they decided on mechanist but because they ahd puit so much work into the gunblade idea they just gave it to war for no other reason than not wnating to wait till the next expac to use the idea, I like the idea of the mechanist but enginier really really should have had the gunblade
I think bladesworn is the coolest but not the best, definitely that would be support teef imo.
Allll aboooooarrrd the HYPE Train!! (Notwithstanding some of my differing opinions)
Catalyst is trash.... in every regard. Period.
Catalyst is D or F with untamed in all aspects.
Golem is a shot-in-the-leg. They will not be able to balance it and make it either OP or useless.
Every class should have a AI spec - for some chill story, open world and as easy dps builds for beginners, not super high dmg but respectable.
Integration!
For a lot of players the game is to hard. How many people raid? Like 2%. Because without training or a carry they will never clear a raid boss.
Catalyst well design??? It's for me lower then D tier.
As one whom didn't have the time to play around with the new elite specs, can someone answer the question of, when the new release is out. Will we need to make a new character to use the new elites or will it carry over into the existing characters? Maybe the answer is already in the forums but, I'm too lazy to do that research within the forums.
You don’t need a new character!
Did Teapot really forgot that for catalyst to be B tier design coolnes u need to be playing hammer? Ones u wanna play smt else its kinda D tier :/
Not playing hammer on the catalyst is akin to not using a greatsword on the reaper.
@@mandodelorian4668 Except that actually worked at times, and still does so long as you have GS on swap.
Hammer could still have a special interaction e.g. the barrage just like holosmith sword is the only weapon to benefit from heat (not that that was particularly well received back in the day).
before watching video: If bladesworn isnt Tier 0 for cool factor I WILL instill the fear of god and anime on you
Now do the other expacs! :D
I hate Bladesworn. It feels spammy, It feels clunky, I hate the new weapon. But what I hate most about it is the fact that it's just another pdps spec. The next bannerslave probably. They're such a boring mechanic and take up two utility slots..
you need an udemy series just to understand these abreviations
They should just delete vindicator and buff herald power damage and give it the gs so it can be the proper" power dps slec for rev.
Vindicator is top tier, honestly you played it wrong, when you put it in low tier.
As a thief main, I feel Specter is complete garbage. It has next to no cleave and the targeting sucks ass. The support also sucks. It doesn't even get all of the boons it gives allies and some of the ones it does get don't really benefit thief much at all (alacrity). We haven't had a decent spec since Daredevil.
specter is not assassin for cantha thats why its F tier
The concept of the untamed is what people wanted but the execution wasn't it...
untamed is 100% bottom tier.
I like the theme of the specter but not so much the design. The shadow shroud felt clunky and the wells are boring af.
Half of the already existing specs are uninspired and soulless, yet people play and enjoy them. It will happen with EoD aswell.
@@ok_listen Honestly, it seems like they spend way too much on the thief before considering the other professions lol
Daredevil is really fun to play and Deadeye was pretty unique, and now Specter seems to be at least imo the best new ESpec
Lex I can kinda agree with your take... the specs except spectre arent giving us anything that new (maybe virtuoso as well) but I would say I u enjoy GW2 and want to play it its kinda no-brainer in deciding if to buy since its not that much money for a lot of content.
@@kodlo007 True, the virtuoso is imo one of the best new specs design wise. It actually shakes things up, even if not as much as Specter
But other than that, it seems ok to me
You can't always top yourself :D
Il never understand why people do such lists... other thern propagate theit own subjective impressions. Here: We see a a future Specter player.
Sad.
Do the devs just hate rifle or something?
Elementalist is hot garbage, especially with hammer, probably going to see some specs using other weapon sets with catalyst traits unless they rework entirely how hammer plays and fix it.
How did the video go from 5 tier lists to 2 lol. Where’s the ones that actually matter tea?
Please read this in a friendly tone. if you think untamed has better cool factor than vindicator, then you have a bizzare understanding of what's cool what's not. untamed has no cool factor whatsoever. not even D level.
You where wayyy to merch with untame
I hate mechanist too
They all look pretty cool imo
The Catalyst should of ditched the 4 elements. All 4 have the exact same mechanics, it's boring. Especially when you notice how different the Firebrand is compared to a DH.
i like wilbender and catalyst...idk..they are just fun to me
Very unpopular opinion, but I get it, some people enjoy going against the grain.
@@smoov5046 that was my point :) thanks for understanding
ARENANET PLEASE CHANGE THIS
I Hope they replace the Spear throw with tHe JUMP. The throw does 0 dmg and nothing Else. A Lack of dodges makes vindicator unplayable in pvp
@@dullinator1059 WE NEED PROPER DODGES!
Tier lists are so subjective... this for example mess too much design and cool look.
I lost all respect when Specter "S" tier :P
MIGHTY TEAPOT I AM ENRAGED I AM FURIOUS I CANT BELIEVE U DI THIS UNTAMED SHOULD BE HGOHER THEN SPECTER SPECTER ISNT EVEN GOOD I JUST FORGOT TO CHANGE MY PROFILE PICTURE I CAN BELIEVE U DID THIS MIGHTY TEAPOT THIS IS RUDE WRONG DISREPCTFUL UNTAMED SHOULD BE S TIER AND THATS THAT I DONT APPREICATE THIS BEHAVIOR I AM SHAKING RIGHT NOW OH MY GOD IM SHAKING
Super sad none of these specs interests me at all
Untamed its prty bad C tier clearly if not even the worst...
Those 2 should have been D tier EASY.
that’s a lot of emotion for someone else’s opinion on what’s cool 🥴
