I hate it when people try to talk to me while I'm reading!
+Shannon McCracken yes!! I need a bookmark that says "don't disturb"
+The Book Leo I have a mug that says: shut up I'm reading, you can buy it by Paagman (since you're Dutch)
Shannon McCracken same!! Like I try to be nice and talk to them but In my head ok like - CAN YOU NOT!! STOP TALKING TO ME
The Book Leo SAME!!!
My friend always does that I'm reading in the chair
HEY look oh the screen its the book from the movie we watched
Bro I don't care about the book I know about it
Hey look at this funny song I made up
Omg I'm in the middle of the page what is your song
10 second song of him saying the bad guy in the book I'm reading is nuts
Omg ok I know CAN I JUST READ OMG I CANT
I CAN RELATE SO BAD WITH THE 'INTERRUPTING YOUR READING TIME'
it's so annoying when people do that!
Stella Wenny omg every time i film a reading video I have to tell my whole family im reading😂
Stella Wenny MY SISTER DOES IT ALL THE TIME
When that spine broke, I died with it.
Wilted Auroras Omg sameeee 😂
Wilted Auroras I literally cringed..Inwardly. It was a horrific experience
I legit cringed, squealed, and leaned far, far away from the computer while covering my eyes
R.I.P
I actually audibly gasped when the spine broke. My book nerd heart is bleeding. (Awesome video👍🏻)
that's why I used a book with an already broken spine ;)
+The Book Leo I feel so much better now😂 This whole video was so accurate!
The one with the breaking spine is so me! Everytime someone picks up a paperback and wants to open it I scream "DON'T. YOU. DARE. DOING. THIS!!"
Kristina Ma when I give someone a book (for 30 secs, I don't lend my books) I warn them to not open it more that 45 degrees wide, and watch over them while they hold it.
Hahahahaahaha! "These are all YA books. They're not real books."
*You better run for your life.*
+Haddie'sHaven yes you better haha ;)
I mean I'm at the age where young adult books are acceptable for me to read (I'm 15) but I immensely dread the day when people will keep bugging me to read "real books" and classics. Classics are amazing and fun and whatever but sometimes I just want some ToG okay??? Vajsxokenwndof
+Larry Stylinson oh I know right!? It's not like adults cannot read for fun!
The Book Leo Most adults don't even read at all so people should be thankful that they even found an adult that actually reads as a pastime
Meh, read what you want. I just turned 30, and I love YA books.
If you can turn the pages, then it's a book.
Larry Stylinson oh I was told to read the classics by my dad's girlfriend. I'M 10!
"YA books are not real books"- Non-Book Nerds
To be fair, a lot of YA books recently are trash.
Shaney Zamora
But... but they aren't.
*I will flipping mess those people up.*
If these books can tear our hearts apart and sew them back together over and over again throughout the story, they are real books.
Hugh Reed there a so many YA books from different genres that some people prefer to read YA books. Some people prefer books for different age levels like some people prefer different authors or different genres. I’m 16 and I’m currently reading a YA novel that has almost 1,000 pages and has a better storyline than a lot of popular movies I’ve seen. Are you going to tell me that isn’t a real book? I do read a lot of YA books because some of them are really good and really long books even if I do occasionally read other books. Harry Potter is technically labeled as a children’s book. Are you going to say those aren’t real books? Sometimes YA or children’s books are just more entertaining and sometimes reading something lake Harry Potter is really refreshing. Do you not consider Order of the Phoenix real reading? Because that book is almost 900 pages and has a fairly well written storyline. I definitely prefer YA over other books and mostly read YA but that doesn’t mean I’m not a reader. It just means I have a preference like everyone else on this planet.
i agree on the anoyance of people that say that YA is not real books. YA is real books, its just the character that is younger and that doesnt mean that its bad. my favorite YA series are Harry Potter and Percy Jackson.
yup totally agree!
Neta Bolt
I judge a book, not by it's genre, but how well it was written and crafted.
Every genre is full of stereotypical books that make you cringe or that you can tolerate only once.
It's the good ones that stay with you and can be enjoyed by all ages (depending on the minimum age limit). That's what makes a good book for me. If I can come back to it and still marvel at how well the author narrated the whole thing (plot, characters, narration, dialogue). Non-book-readers focus on the wrong thing. The question to ask is, will this book become a classic that can be enjoyed for decades to come? Many books don't pass that test. The trial of a reader is to read many books until they find those classics, and then watch them obsess over them and bugging the author for the next book.
Neta Bolt
I know that it is the common definition, but I don't consider a book YA simply because most of it's characters are young adults.
Neta Bolt Sorry to do this but Percy Jackson & Harry Potter are not YA. Percy Jackson is middle grade, and Harry Potter is children/adult.
Tucking Fypo there are a few different things that make a book YA. The character is supposed to be a teenager or at least young. The story is usually some form of coming of age story and usually the problem that drives the plot forward is a problem that young adults can relate to such as family problems and the plot usually centers around things like friendship, first love, or the character trying to find their identity in the world.
once I let my friend borrow one of my favorite books AND SHE FREAKING BROKE THE SPINE, THE BACK COVER WAS OFF, THE PAGES WERE WATER DAMAGED, AND THE COLORING ON THE SOFT COVER WAS PICKED OFF!!!! So at first I gave her a little slack but barely any because it was a soft cover that I had for a while but I keep my books in mint condition AND THEN SHE FREAKING SAID IT WAS LIKE THAT
UPDATE: ( I have never lent her another book again, and I still don't forgive her )
nah, I would already would be over the table like "excuse me NOOOOOOOOOOOO," and people wonder why I never let them touch my book like "please sign the following waiver that any and all actions beyond this point can lead to injury"
A writer came to my school and said that Harry Potter books are fun and entertaining but are not good quality books! It's funny, cause her books are also middle grade, she was basically telling us not to read her books. Super annoying...
ugh it's just stupid when people tell you the books you like are not good...
How about I break YOUR SPINE. haha this was so great. and the books not being the same size in a series UGHHHH
+Pink Lemonade Reads hahaha sooo annoying!
I hate it when they say 'YA books are not 'REAL' books.' I wanna say 'What do YOU consider 'REAL' books to be?'.
i know right!? It's just stupid
Until recently, I thought the same thing because it was the "young" in Young Adult. I am 38 years old and that one word distracted me because I thought the books were more kids books. Some people think real books are "adult" books, like James Patterson. I am just now trying YA.
you can read YA no matter how old you are. YA is mostly books with the characters that has a young age like teenagers, thats not say that YA is bad, i read some of YA books and they are still enjoyable and i consider it a real book and i'm 25 years old and i dont mind reading YA. however i cant tell the difference with YA and NA books. i mostly read SciFy, Fantasy and Horror (mostly Stephen King).
It is very closed minded to think YA isn't literature. But, I do also enjoy adult fiction and appreciate adult fiction recommends. The Girl on the Train was AMAZING! But, I also loved Stolen. Loving books is about loving a variety of genres! (or at least giving them a chance) :)
Britt _ I liked The Girl on the Train. It was actually the first YA book I started on. Now I am on the second book Hollow City of Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children and have also read Twilight and New Moon.
"Ya books are not real books"🔪🔪🔪
MooniGaming lol
Ughhhhhhhhhhh
The uneven books one I can relate so much it's the worst like I literally bought them from the same friggin site and its the same edition WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT HEIGHTS THEN WHO DOES THIS WHY
That last one is my fave
+Nyla Allen haha ;)
yeah im an athlete I do soccer and I run if your not athletic you cant even touch me if you rarely workout and your not rip just don't even try to run away from me if you snatch my thing I chase you down if your not athletic then I get you matter of second and I knock you down
I can relate. And the last one... when I tell someone about the books I, they just don't understand at all (and it doesn't have to be Young adult - they don't even think fantasy or sci-fi books are real books.)
LOL! The third one with the book height being different is so relatable!!!!!! I recently bought the second book in a series and even though the covers match and everything, the second book is slightly taller than the first and it irks me SOOO much!!!
+ForTheLoveOfBooks AAHH SO ANNOYING!
"Candace"
Me: oh please don't be Hunger Games
"Peter"
Me: oh my Irene no
"Mockingbird"
Me: whyyyyyyy
This video was so accurate especially the bit about YA not being real books. Like "come at me bro" or "fight me" 😡
I gasped at 2:17 ARGGHH * sharping up an axe *
Loved the video - speaks to all booknerds on a personal level 👏👏🙌
+Bookish Infection yess I'll help you with that axe!
me too!!
How I break your spine? Lol, I love it!
+Cookiemonsterbooks haha people who are unrespectful towards my books, bring out the worst in me ;)
When I get a new book I say (hey books I got you a new brother)!!!
I know I'm stupid 😂😭
I say "another to my collection" people said it's quite frightening
I saw red queen on your bookshelf girl respect that's one of my favorite series
"how 'bout I brake YOUR spine" was my favorite comeback of the annoyance levels.
When she was trying to put the book on the shelf I went from laughing straight to "haDON'T YOU DARE TAKE OUT RED QUEEN"
2:04 yeah! its super me. i always say "broken spine, dog eared pages, and you will meet hell!!!"
"Those aren't real books" They have covers, a spine, pages, words written on those pages, a plot, sub plots, and characters. They're real books, thank you very much!
+daddeezgirl626 I KNOW RIGHT!
i laughed at the mocking bird part right away😂😂😂 and 'oh you must be smart ' part is so on point😂😂
+Kan Waiman thank you, i'm glad you could relate!
THIS IS AMAZING, YOU REALLY PUT SO MUCH EFFORT IN THE VIDS ITS INCREDIBLE! GOOD JOB
THANK YOU SO MUCH HEY :D
You always get new books read them, then never touch them again. But refuse to get rid of them #Booklife
purplecatlover1825 randompizza if I like a book I’ll usually reread it until I have most of it memorized. If I really tried I could probably recite the dialogue from my favorite book when I was a kid
I seriously cannot bear it when people bend my books!
Like whenever I lend them to friends, they come back all damaged.
I also hate it when I have my books in the book shelf and on the the books fall over and hear a BOOM and I have a mini heart attack
"First world problems"-- this made me laugh so hard! And I particularly love the last one ... you better run for your life!! LOL!! :)
Mockingbird was great! I loved the part where the one girl did this thing .. and everybody was like - wow! omg, it was so good.
You are the best.
+ottoismy1dog hahaha yeah I know it must have been so much better than the book! ;D
I was Reading the best Part of a book, nearly crying bc one of my favorite characters is close to Death and my father comes in and says that I have to clean up my room immidiately. I was mad in an Instant
This made me laugh from beginning to end...especially trying to find space on your bookshelves! It feels almost wrong to use up that top space, but every inch counts!!!
Omg when she opened the book too far I cringed so much, my friends always want to borrow my books, and one of my rules is they CANNOT BEND THE SPINE!!!!!
Yes, these things often happen. Thanks for the great video. I wish you more success
Hahaha loooove this! Especially the annoyance level; "How about I break your spine?" XD
+A Blackbird's Books haha thank you ;)
the first thing I noticed was court of thorns and roses I LOVE IT 😍😍😍😍😍currently on book 2 so please no spoilers (one of the many things that annoys a book nerd)😄
Scarlett Helms have you reached book three?
All of these 8 are totally true and I'd lie if I said I have not experienced every single one of them!
You have great acting skills. Amazinv video, Leonie! :)
+the World of a Bookworm thank you so much Lena! I'm so glad everyone can relate to this haha
Love this. The "no-room-for-a-new-book" one. IT'S THE WORST. LOL
it drives me nuts!
Am I the only one who actually likes breaking the spines on paperbacks? It makes them so much easier to read
I rarely get interrupted while reading books but whenever I decide to listen to an audio drama everyone suddenly decides that their words needs to be heard and no one else is more suitible for listening to them than me... Like, I would literally be telling my family "I' m listening to an audio drama, please don't talk to me while I'm doing this chore" and they would just ignore it after a few minutes, not even to ask for help or inform me about something important but just to chitchat.
the respect for books only irritates me if it's a very fancy very expensive volume. Most of my books live under the credo that the more it shows wear and tear, the more it shows my love. my favorite books have peeling spines, dog-eared pages, stains, creases on the covers, and torn areas. Most of them I've had for a decade at least. But everything else on this list. Ohhhh yes.
Me; *quietly reads in corner*
Friend; "Whatcha reading?"
Loved it! Relate so well with all of these struggles! 😂😂
Haha this is so relatable! Every single one of them ;) I mostly read at home now, so I don't experience as many problems anymore, luckily!
I'm going to check out your other videos now! xx
+Annabel Rianne Haha yes we just stay in our reading fort ;)
"how about I break your spine?!" haha forreallll whenever people borrow my books!
+Sambarrassed don't break spineeees
HAHA, this is so cute. The last one made me laugh out loud, thank you!! :)
haha I'm really glad I made you laugh!
Are there spines that don't break?
Dahlia Legacy yes, there is a plastic that does not break, but is super duper rare :(
Good to know, thanks.
Dahlia Legacy hardcovers usually are harder to break
For me floppy paperbacks are usually okay
Book spines
Leonieeeee Y U So creative?! LOVED IT!
hahah the uneven books... I HATE that so much!
ps. cool hat 😉
+Britt Reads Britt Y U so nice haha thank you so much ^^
And the hat doesn't give off old women vibes? ;)
MY MOM ALWAYS TALKS TO ME WHILE IM READING BUT STAYS QUIET WHEN IM NOT READING AND ITS SO ANNOYING
Me: sees no space for bookshelf "Meh." Places on top of booktops "There! That works!" 😊
haha this was fantastic on so many levels! That last one especially, ugh it annoys me so much when people say that.
thank you haha! And yes people just don't understand!
That last one though AGHHH ANNOYANCE LEVEL 💯💯💯💯
It’s crazy because I only recently learned that you can actually read a paperback and not have the spine break. But for the longest time I thought it was inevitable. That being said not worrying about that while reading is pretty nice.
The one with the being called smart because of the books happens so often to me. My family has a few thousand books and they are spread over the whole hallway, so we get those comments all the times.
OK LIKE uneven books and people bending new paperbacks' spines *will* kill me. I related emotionally and when that spine bent I cringed so hard.
Haha i can relate to everything!!! Especially the book spine one😂
One of my freind always talks random stuff I don't care about when I'm reading so I can't concetrate so I just have to listen to him for like 20 seconds until he's done
LOL I am totally subscribing now xD (I just discovered your channel) :D
The one about "Young Adult reading is not real reading", I relate to that so much!! xD
i actually gasped when the spine broke.
Hehe what an amazing video! I think from now on I am just gonna show this to every single new friend I make :D
+HannahCassie Aww thank you so much, i'm really glad you like my video's!!
that intro got me like 😐 omg lol yes me when my books won't fit lol! when someone interrupts reading time 🔪
+Miracle Hall all so annooooying!
once one of my friends borrowed my NEW PAPERBACK BOOK and returned it a month later with...... the cover............ BENT 😤😤😤😤
Spine cracking gets me too! Damages books so sad :(
Lol definitely the uneven books and not enough space on my shelves XD oh and the covers not matching I'm still annoyed with Across the Universe on that one
with the hating your favorite characters thing, I just roast everyone in books. it's fun
Holy fuck I saw Throne of Glass on the shelf and I screamed. I'm obsessed with that series 😍😍
Just found your channel and I love it 💗
"How about I break your spine?" You're a genius :P
+Berthe Reads Books hehehe thank you ^^
I'm not bothered so much by people having legitimate questions for me if I'm reading; I'll just set down the book for a moment. What annoys me is when people try to *start* a conversation (also usually people I don't know? who think this is a good way to begin a friendship?) about what I'm reading. WHATCHA READING. OH. WHAT'S IT ABOUT. OKAY. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY LFIE NOW AND TRY TO INTEREST YOU IN SOMETHING BECAUSE IT APPEARS YOU AREN'T DOING ANYTHING. I feel like that shows most succinctly how someone feels toward reading.
I feel having to put a book on its side when there is no shelf space left, but also when there is no shelf space left I get to take all my books off the shelves and decide which ones to keep. Then I get to reorganize them in a completely different way when I put them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
omg uneven books! yes! also when they change the covers halfway through a series! infuriating!
+McKinlay's Bookshelf yes I would find that so annoying too, but luckily it never happened to me
oh you are so lucky! it has happened to me twice!
Once a friend whom I really likedcame to my house and I showed her a book she opened the book so wide and I said that the spine would break and pages would come out.
She replied shut up you can stick it. What's in a book? ........now she doesn't even come near my building.
That last one though... XD that's how I feel when people say manga's aren't real books.
When it doesn't tell you which book it is in the series, anywhere!
Totally!Sabe for the first one.I think loving books is a sign of intelligence, and I like when people call me smart!! (Nothing annoys me more Than Boeing interrupted while reading)
HAHAHA echt geweldig Leonie! Heb zo hard gelachen :D
+Sabine's Book Nook Gelukkig ;)
Enjoyed the video! I'm too old for YA. Just kidding. I don't think anyone is too old for that. I subscribed!
haha thank you! And no, you are never to old!
The Book Leo But then, I have a 4 year old daughter, and I'll probably read some of what she reads.
I immediately subscribed after the first one. Hahaha
If anyone did this to me, I'd just be like, "Welcome to your tape."
I almost only read y/a fantasy, and I’m always judged, mostly for the fantasy part, and all I do is look at then sadly and say, “you haven’t read a good book before, I feel bad for you”
When the spine broke, I felt my OWN spine break :'(
And when she/you said that YA aren't real books... I was like "Bitch, say whaaaaaaaaaaaat???"
the one with the no space for a new book. i kept moving my hand on like putting it sideways. lol. until she did it. haahah. i kept twisting me hands and pushing it forward. what is wrong with me?!?! 😂😂
The second one was literally me. I mean, the atrocity that is my current bookshelf... Has like 4 series stapled on it. And it hurts. :D
+Sebastian Wulff It's so hard to keep bookshelves organised!
Especially if your room already is just a big bookshelf with a bed in the middle! :D
Hahahahah I love when you make these types of videos, you're hilarious! "how about I break your spine?" xD. Omg the no respect for young adult is one of the things that annoy me the most. Brilliant video!!! Loved it!
+BooksWithWings thanks so much, I also love filming them! And yes, it so annoying, I mean young adult is just another genre!
This video is so cool and crazy and I love it. Wow, perfect.
Omg just saw you have the Dutch Twiligh Saga are you Dutch? I did not know.. omg me to :)
That last one was my life everyday at school
Yes, when someone says that you don’t read serious books it FKIN PISSES ME OFF! Like come on we all have different opinions and YA teaches me a lot, they are not stupid!
I just realized we have the same bed.
One time my friend old me if the book I was reading was “BaSeD oFf A mOvIe”
Evan Davis do they even have brain cells? Or did that last little brain cell die of loneliness at that moment? Also what book was it? I’m actually wondering how stupid they are because some movies are more popular than the books and people don’t realize that there are books to go with the movies.
I RELATE SO MUCH WITH THE LAST ONE OMG
haha "you better run for your life"
+Michelle Huber yes you better run if you insult my book babies ;)
Right?? Love your bookshelf BTW :D
when she broke that spine I thought this is why I don't lend out my books EVER!!
THAT LAST ONE THO grrrrrrr its so anoying!!!!!!!!!!!
