  • In this video, I'm catching you up what I've been up to this winter. I also discuss my new focus on finances and talk about how seasonal work helped me when I was broke.
Since 2016 I've been uploading hiking, backpacking and car camping videos on this RUclips channel. I'm currently using seasonal work in inspiring locations to pay the bills and traveling in between. I hope you consider subscribing if you're new!

Don't know what the towing capacity of the Subaru is but, a small camper or converted cargo trailer may fit the bill. I fallow your aunt Cat and the trailer she help put together for your mom was very nice. Plus you can park it and run errands when needed. Whatever you do you wish the best for you.

I'm with you on everything you've said, and actually just learned that I have a lot in common with you, except for the support from family and/or friends, which I don't have.

Just my 2 cents; Subarus are excellent vehicles that are low maintenance as long as you keep scheduled servicing as instructed Subarus can definitely last well past 300-400k miles. Subarus are part of the Toyota family and Subarus/Toyota’s have an impeccable reputation of quality, durability & longevity. My strong opinion is to keep your Subaru and nix the idea of getting a van. Especially if costs & finances are a huge concern. Also bc Subarus are beast and can pretty much drive anywhere all 4 seasons and mpg is better, stealth camping is way better, more obscure, less financial burden, etc. I vote #teamsubaru🩷 Keep on keeping on, I love watching your videos, so cool & fun! I plan to do the same next year after my youngest graduates HS. 😉🙌🏼

You have really good points, especially with the capability of a Subaru. These are just some thoughts I've been having, not making any changes anytime soon.

Your Subaru has a lot of good life left on it as long as you take care of necessary maintenance and oil changes. Great vehicles!

You are just plain amazing and inspiring! Thank you for continuing to put out content and catching us up on what’s new. The PCT sounds exciting!
I also wondered if the Subaru could tow something small, like an A-liner?

I watched some videos of a lady who has a 40 year old VW camper van with a pop top roof. It looks like a good option for van life on a budget. With the top popped up. It seems to give you more room, better ventilation, and more light on the inside of the van. It seems to be a very efficient use of the least amount of space. With a few upgrades, this looks like it could be a nice option. I don’t how powerful the engine is for handling a mountain pass. I have watched many of your hiking videos in the mountains. Her RUclips channel is Lidia Rico.

It's crazy to think about.. but if you're making a 100K a year right now, you're about minimum wage to live on your own in most states. The crazier part, it's 100% going to get worse/more expensive down the line with a lot of industries shrinking ever week. Hope everyone is focusing on financials...it's going to get rough. As for your channel/life. Don't feel like you owe YT subs any explanations... you do you. Instead of your money just being "Saved" you should really put Savings, into something like Gold... or something else that's climbing in value. Just a thought. Good luck on the next adventure.
