Wow, Australia in 1945 had the world’s fourth largest airforce, but only lost 20 planes? I mean just how did the 5000 aircrew who died, fit into 20 planes? Bloody miracle really.

Most Australians were flying in British aircraft with British rondels in the european campaign. I thus take it that Australian losses here represent aircraft lost in the Pacific with Australian rondels.

It's ridiculous to say Canada only lost 40 aircraft. So many RCAF fighter and bomber squadrons fought in Europe and over 17000 Canadians died in these air operations. Other sources say over 800 RCAF craft were lost in action and in training accidents. Check your facts, mate.

WRONG WRONG WRONG. Australia lost 24 Wirraways in 1 day during an attack on Port Moresby. Total losses in the war will be at least 1000 aircraft, probably closer to 2000. We finished the war with the 4th biggest airforce in the world.
Imagine the bravery of those crews who took off in what were essentially training aircraft to face off against Japanese Zeros ( the best dog fighter in the pacific at that time). They even managed to shoot one down.

According to a couple of books, the amount of RAF airplanes lost in WWII was of about 22000 airplanes.
PD: I think They were more because the way RAF gave an airplane as a Total loss was strange to say at least. They only considered an airplane as a Total loss if it could not be recovered, repaired or used for canibalization of spare parts for other planes, so probably got more losses than these 22000 but they were not recognized because they were recycled in another planes.
      Best regards.

In the air force over a half of losses were non-combat losses."[4]
British EmpireUnited Kingdom: Europe 42,010 (including 30,045 fighters and 11,965 bombers)[3]Australia, Pacific and South East Asia: 250[5]

Barbarossa, and during much of the conflict the german aces and pilots in general were much better trained and their planes were more capables that the soviet ones?? You are spreading lies!!

Your numbers are way off, sorry. The realization that the U.S, Soviet Union, Japan and Germany along round up easily at least over 200,000 aircraft lost is insane. I was disappointed about the animation design, the more proper format could have been a list of type of plane lost, its numbers and then totals. The massive column works for casualties but for machines of war the mire individual design seems better.

    • @Acridblue999

Well the US produced 324000 planes, the USSR 157000, UK 131000, Japan 76000, Germany 116000. So the amount lost is within reason. However the list of losses by country is very inaccurate.
