    There is a certain ambiance about this scene, the lighting, the music. It stayed with me even as a 10 year old to now mid 40s. The only thing weird about it is how few other patrons there are in that pub/cafe, but maybey it's near closing time.

      Almost all bartenders in North America mispronounce Glenmorangie. (They pronounce it Glen-muh-RAN-gee.) I've never been sure if the barkeep here is responding specifically to MacLeod's correct pronunciation, as though he's just been reminded of how it should be pronounced.

    People getting worked up over the way Connor orders the Glenmorangie. You’re forgetting that he is 467 years of age at this point (1518-1985). He’s probably drank that much of the stuff that he’s ‘experimented’ with the drink and found a niche way of drinking it. He’s seen so many different worlds, cultures, customs….the whiskey to him is no longer a traditional Scottish dram, it’s more of a cocktail of sorts 😂

    I don't know who was the character actor as the bartender, but: the way he responded to a regular's extra demand with "..ho!", and then kept looking into her eyes thrice to do the ".. wait, you really want this much".. annd then the way he corrected himself on a prononciation issue that only a TRUE Scotsman would give ("..glennMORangie, right.."). No, for reals, this bartender very well deserves some love, in the character actor hall of famoe, for how stiff he kept his lip in this important scene :)

    One of my favorite movies, though I never understood casting a heavily accented Frenchman as a Scott and the world's favorite Scottish actor as an Egyptian by way of Spain.

    • @tomrio9748
      @tomrio9748 2 года назад

      Lambert was big,especially in France and Greystoke a year earlier put him on the map in other countries. I heard he auditioned for James Bond. You imagine Bond with that accent? 😂

    • @Highlander1518
      @Highlander1518 5 месяцев назад

      If you read into it, Lambert was cast because of his timeless ‘look’. He really looks like someone who has been around for centuries. He has an aura of mysticism about him. A great choice in my opinion. As for Connery playing an Egyptian let’s not forget he was playing a character who was born 2437 years ago, so the Scottish accent (at least in my opinion) is trivial.

  • @Golkarian

    Great music, but this scene is confusing. Is she going through a break up, what is she down about? Is he trying to cover his tracks at this point or already likes her?

    • @KaitainCPS
      @KaitainCPS 7 лет назад +8

      I think he was just intrigued by her when he saw her collecting evidence at the crime scene.
      In the script she's described as being strikingly beautiful, which might explain MacLeod's stalker-ish behaviour a little better. (Plus he also wants to find out how much the police know about him.) The original casting for the part was Catherine Mary Stewart, but she pulled out at a late stage and Roxanne Hart (who was mainly a stage actress) stepped in. Although Hart's okay, I never thought she worked that well as MacLeod's romantic interest in the movie.

    • @Shanethefilmmaker
      @Shanethefilmmaker 7 лет назад +5

      +KingKaitain There's also the fact that while Connor is over a couple hundred years old and well versed in the cultures, he doesn't have very many social skills that can relate to the modern world. So even when he's trying to make small talk, it comes off as stalker-ish. This was more or less one of the ways that show he is a stranger to this land even if he's been here many times in many hundreds of years.
      +Golkarian as for why she was down it was because she discovered at the crime scene a metal piece from Connor's sword wedged into the pillar in the parking garage. Since metallurgy in sword forging is a major hobby of hers that she's even wrote some research books on, she was wondering where it came from. In her words, there is no sword in the modern world, that has been folded 200 times. She's down because no one took that factor seriously even the cops didn't know nor cared even though it would have linked Connor to Fasil's murder.

    • @flybeep1661

      @@KaitainCPS Wow, Catherine Mary Stewart would've worked far better than Roxanne Hart. You're right, there wasn't much chemistry between them on screen.
