I have the fondest memories of Sheridan while growing up. I lived at the corner of Hammond, Stafford and Narcissis, Glen Mawr, next to Krobots and finally off to the wilds of Robinson Twp.....COWS! I was serenaded to sleep by the trains, awakened by the work whistles on Brunots Island and all the other joys of being a young boy totally immersed in the American dream. But, like that song,The Boys of Summer says, don't look back, you can never go back. 20 years ago I made the mistake of cruising the old neighborhood. Thank God for CWP's......don't look back, you can NEVER go back.....😿

At 1:28 on the time bar, check out the back of a city 1700 series PCC car that has the trolley rope catcher above the back windows. Obviously they were delivered that way in 1949. Pittsburgh Railways obviously lowered the catchers on the city 1700 series cars to a position slightly off-center below the back windows. On the interurban 1700 cars, one of the back windows could be opened so a motorman could rewire a trolley pole on a high bridge or trestle. The city 1700 cars back windows were fixed and could not be opened.
The city 1600 series cars never had their trolley rope catchers lowered. Only the interurban 1600 cars had low catchers and and a back window that could be opened.

Hey Tim, do you know if that video has any footage of the trolleys running along McCartney Street in the West End? Fascinated to see what that look like.

Unfortunately, no. That was all the West End / Elliott video except for down around the West End Circle. Then it shows Crafton and Carnegie.

I rode that one too. My grandfather operated out of the Ingram carbarn. We lived in Sheridan and I would take the car to the carbarn and transfer to the Crafton-Ingram car to Crafton Junction, then catch the Carnegie or Heidelburg car and get off at Idlewood.
