This tutorial focuses on rhythm, timing, subdivisions, groupings, triplets, and examples of how to change from one tempo to another. See the Extended Lesson on the Patreon site.

      Implied and actual metric modulation are cool, but I always warn the other musicians first😁

    The translation from 100bpm to 75bpm, to me, makes the most sense to think of it as 3 in place of 4 (3:4). The four beats consist of 100% of the measure, so each beat is an equal 25%. For you to take out one beat and have the new measure consist of three equal beats, you are removing 25% of the beats so the tempo must "slow" to 75% of the original. Then just shift the pulse to a simple meter grouping. It's effectively the tempo of half note triplets at 100bpm.
    Or for any "X in place of Y" rhythmic/metric modulation, multiply X and Y together to get the number of equal subdivisions for the measure, and then accentuate every Yth note X amount of times. So in a measure of 4/4 time, 5:4 would mean breaking it into 20 equal subdivisions (each quarter note would be quintuplets), and accenting every 4 partials of the quintuplets a total of 5 times within the measure. Shift the pulse to your accents and not the downbeat of the original 4/4 and you're in a new tempo.
    Rhythm = Math 🤓
