- Punjab is struggling because of exploitation of its natural resources. Studies suggest, Punjab will run out of water by 2050. There are many reasons for this situation and the main reason is the paddy cultivation.
In this video I explain how Green Revolution lead to the water crisis and eventually the problem of stubble burning in Punjab. I also talk about the solutions. How you can play your part in saving Punjab from this crisis through water conservation. Save water, save life, save Punjab bcz Jal hi Jeewan hai.
I came to know all of these facts when I was working with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kapurthala during their Jal Shakti Abhiyan.

Really good video! Basically as things stand Punjab is paying the price for the centre not addressing the groundwater crisis. MSP for appropriate crops for Punjab to incentivise farmers to change. Rice to more agro climatically appropriate zones. Also about 2 BILLION m3 of ‘virtual’ water leaves Punjab annual in rice that’s exported from the state. AFTER central pool procurement, so nothing to do with national food security.
OverheadWater tank te system asi v lagaya hoya apne ghare jehda tank full hon te bajda . It costs only 250-300. Ehna ta minimum har ek bande nu karna hi chahida .This is the bare minimum people can do in urban areas.

If punjab uses organic farming methods, then they can easily work upon this situation. More awareness should be spread about it. And moreover to grow paddy, every farmer should adopt the odisha method which need very less water to grow paddy.
Yes KVK is trying to create awareness about the new scientific techniques which use less water.

Government have to provide Msp on other crops 🌾nd lentils , sweet corn 🌽, potatoes 🥔, jaggery nd sugarcane .
These crops needs less usage of water. Only this solution to stop wastage of water .
Even the punjab government should come up with water meters that houses need to be equipped with. People are hard headed, so once the money aspect gets included with the water usage, only then these people will stop wasting the water.

Government should set up water cleaning plants in punjab. Because all waste water they through into rivers. It should be cleaned and Send back to ground water. And Government should Make it compulsory for everyone to setup rain water harvesting in every house so that rain water directly goes into ground.
And what about the 75% of Punjabs river water that is forcefully being given to its non-riparian states without considering Punjabs water needs
