i don't think the defendant scammed anybody. this is poor bookkeeping and an angry girlfriend matter.
To use a Judge Milan phrase, this guy is a classic "it's a you problem, not a them problem". He doesn't understand obligations and consequences. Crap happens in his life, he just walks away. But being adult comes with responsibilities and obligations. I don't think he went out and gleefully laughed that the roommate paid the insurance. He just didn't bother to think about making sure the insurance got paid. He seems really young and naive. Hopefully willful ignorance doesn't become intentional scamming, but that's what happens with a lot of people. Rather than becoming responsible adults, their early years shape them into scammers.

Ive had a miscarriage and a stillborn so i empathise but thank god his gf isnt preg anymore i just hope it stays that way coz hes noway ready for a baby
