    OK - you talked me into it. This is my next lens. I love the compressed distance effct - especially that shot with the airplane. Very cool.

      Thanks, I suggest you get a good quality UV filter for it, I put a cheap one on and it was not pretty.

    I just got a Canon 75-300 USM III EF lens. I like how quiet the autofocus is. 100 or 135mm Bokeh looks great. I have a M6 mark II. I have both Viltrox speed booster and EF/EFS to EF-M adapter. I was using an old Quantaray 70-300 lens but it is too noisy.

    I use an adapter with the 55-250mm EF-S lens.

    How was the audio captured over the long distance 🤔

    • @ajpurvis
      @ajpurvis  Год назад +2

      Sennheiser wireless body pack with a lapel mic. It did cause a bit of noise interference at that distance. Actually cheaper wireless mics like Rode are less noise prone. If the Camara is close I rather use a shot mic on top of the camera.

    Ehy, do you think this lens can work on a canon eos m50 mark with the purpose of making videos/photography of horses indoor? The aspect that scares me more is the poor light.

    • @ajpurvis
      @ajpurvis  2 года назад

      Yes, I think the indoor arena might be too dark. This lens is F4.5. But the lens does have image stabilization and it can focus as close as 1 meter (macro). I use it indoors for shooting music videos and it works great. I wish you could borrow one and try it. For low light and fast action I use Sigma art lenses; 30mm and 16 mm. They are 1.4 lenses. I love them.

    Is 55-200mm enough for beginner birding?

    • @ajpurvis
      @ajpurvis  Год назад +1

      I would say no, because in any new undertaking you want to be able to do something great from the beginning, otherwise it's not much fun. I've captured good shots of big birds like geese, ducks, loons, blue heron... with the 55-200 but you have to sneak up on them.

    Any higher focal length lenses for canon m50 other than this?

    • @ajpurvis
      @ajpurvis  2 года назад

      This is the highest focal length available, and it is actually equivalent to 88 - 320 on a 35mm camera. Personally, if I needed something stronger I would use a full frame camera with built in sensor-based image stability. It is difficult to shoot hand held video on M50 at 320mm

    • @matapics
      @matapics Год назад

      There are no native ef-m lenses above 200mm. There is also a tamron 18-200mm for the ef-m mount. You can also use the adapter and use the efs 55-250 stm (i own it and it is great) or any other ef lens, but the size will not be the same, that 55-200 is really small! (Plus you don't need adapter)
      Hope this helped you 😁

  • @maverickthevagabond6536
    @maverickthevagabond6536 2 года назад

    Is this the old one or the STM or the version 2?

    • @ajpurvis
      @ajpurvis  2 года назад +1

      This is an STM lens. I think the old one was a USM lens with EF mount (an adapter would be required to use it on an M mount camera, I have the adapter and it works well for mounting my old EF lenses)
