  • In the wake of yesterday's storm and subsequent heavy rainfall, Santa Monica Beach maintenance personnel are working tirelessly to restore the area. On Monday, August 21, 2023, their efforts included not only the installation of a temporary fence at the Pico-Kenter storm drain site but also the removal of mud from the Santa Monica Beach Bike Path.
Yesterday's storm led to the unfortunate overflow at the Pico-Kenter storm drain, resulting in the breakage of a previously installed fence. The response from local authorities and maintenance teams has been swift and comprehensive, with the safety of beachgoers and residents as their utmost priority.
In addition to the fence installation, the diligent maintenance personnel have successfully cleared the Santa Monica Beach Bike Path of mud and debris, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable experience for pedestrians and cyclists.
The safety and well-being of visitors and residents remain a top priority. As the community rallies together to address the situation, updates will be provided to ensure that everyone can enjoy Santa Monica Beach with the necessary precautions in place. Stay tuned for further information and updates from local sources.

What happened to the original fence? Washed away or rusted away? By the looks of the concrete condition and rusted reinforcing rebar, I wouldn't drive a bicycle across that bridge. Looks like years of little or no maintenance and neglect!
