  • Artist Lauren Bennett shows how to make a 16 color lithograph using just one century plate.
For the first time since lithography was invented in 1798, it is now possible for printmaking students and professionals to easily re-grain this thicker, reusable plate so it may be used hundreds of times instead of just once as conventional ball grained plates require.

As a stone lithographer, I enjoyed watching this process and am fascinated that this type of plate is reusable. Clearly this was very labor intensive. However I must say that the use of photo exposures is something I would never do. Call me "Old School", but I feel that all artistic printmaking should be rendered directly by the artist on the plate or stone.
