Actually Bhisma is doing this because he is also the son of Shantanu Maharaj. He has obligations towards his father's dynasty and the continuation of it. His father didn't wish for him to not marry infact he wanted Bhisma to continue the dynasty but since he cant do this he feels he is obligated to ensure the continuation of Shantanu's dynasty.
Mahabarath not history . In my view it is about nature of power and nature of humans . Bishma, karna , arjuna may ne not real characters . But it may be energy of human . Such as courage , pain, suffer and everything . In my view if some one understand about mahabarath , may be he can satisfied his life than others . ( i know very very little )
Great to see this format ... so nice to see this in depth perspective on the Mahabharata.
Glad you liked it

You ruin your presentation with your hand-waving. Your hands cause a confusing and irritating moment.
Then close your eyes and listen
