    Your videos are a heartwarming combination of bikes and bonding. To see you working with your son, building fond memories together is wonderful. How I wish my own father had taken the time to do so with me when I was a boy. May God bless you and keep you and your family ❤

      This is the best comment I think that I have received on this channel - absolutely the best recognition one could ask for. This was exactly what this "RUclips" project has been about for me since day one. Thank you so much for your kind words as I hope you continue to enjoy our memories as we make them!

    Awesome! I think you caught those carbs just in time before they got much worse! The hardware on the carbs had been changed and the intake manifolds I believe. Also big shoutout to Chase for being a great cameraman and tech!

      Thanks BJ. We have been having some fun in garage lately, finally. Im hoping that whoever had this before did some engine work and losely put back together. Those carb bowels were barely screwed down anf this oil issue. I wonder if the had the engine apart and again, losely pit it back together. The oil looks brand new. Ah, the mysteries 🤔👍🍻

    The carb syncing with vacuum gauges and replacing the 4 Diaphragm Assembly's in the carbs is a must have. After many years siting dry these are DEAD, replace them with NEW ones. This is all very important when slowing down to prevent the shot gun effect that will harm the motor.

    The only thing to watch on those ultrasonic cleaners is anything rubber or plastic, it doesn’t do them any good , I usually strip the part and leave any rubber or plastic out of the ultrasonic. Nice work on that old bike

    • @AceCafeBikes
      @AceCafeBikes  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the tip on the rubber bits - I was curious about that, I dont think that cleaner that I am using would harm them, but I will consider that in the future. Hopefully she'll appreciate this once over and treat us well in the months ahead

    My bet is that you still have some paths for the fuel enrichment and possibly the pilot/idle mixture circuit of one of the cars still clogged. good possibility one or more plugs bad too. Total breakdown of carbs and checking all the tiny little passages are clear. Good Luck

    • @AceCafeBikes
      @AceCafeBikes  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for the advice - I have readdressed the carbs and I did overlook the pilot jet as they were under the rubber plugs...and they were pretty nasty like everything else was before we began cleaning. I suspect this will help starting the bike and running better. The 3 cylinders that were running those plugs all seemed to look fine - if not a little lean. The 4th cylinder plug almost looked fouled, not oily, but extremely caked with carbon. I'll be back on this later in the week - thanks again for chiming in.

  • @RobsRidesPA

    You shouldn't put the carbs in the ultrasonic with the rubber still in them. You will ruin your diaphrams and the rubber plugs over the pilot jets and such. Use something plastic to break the slides loose and remove them before putting in the cleaner. I didn't see where you removed the rubber plugs and the pilot jets. Those pilot jets didn't get cleaned without removing them. That might be why it isn't running on the one cylinder. Also, these bikes won't run correctly without the air box in place.

    • @AceCafeBikes
      @AceCafeBikes  4 месяца назад

      Thanks so much for the tip - you're right I dont think I did remove the plugs and clean those jets - I have the carbs back of I will certainly investigate that.

    It really is oil. I thought it was patrol, for a second, but it's oil, and probably the reason why the previous owner got rid of it. Get a gasket set, a torque wrench and a workshop manual. Will make for a nice video. Good luck.

    • @AceCafeBikes
      @AceCafeBikes  4 месяца назад

      Thats the hope. Im thinking that maybe the previous owner did some work and that he didn't tighten things down properly. The oil looks very fresh. Thanks for the advice, I'll see what we can do.

      Turning it into a cafe bike was the first thought and probably what drew us to it in the beginning. But after seeing it up close, sometimes they are just better to leave original. Someone has done a good job at trying to maintain this one, thats why it was a bit of a disappointment, but we'll figure it out I'm sure and there has been a lot of support on this video as well as the next one with suggestions as what to look for and remedy. Thanks for watching and commenting!
