- This week on Mega Strange we tackle the nautical nightmare that is ghost ships! Have you ever looked out into the ocean and wondered what horrors lurk? Well in this episode we make our way down to Davy Jones's locker and see just what it is all about!
This podcast is genuinely the one I look forward to the most. Thank you guys for sticking with it, can't wait to see what else comes up in the future.
Tight, I like ships
JohnnY looking extra good today! Love the episode!
thats not. what he's called.
It should be mentioned that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, writer of Sherlock Holmes, wrote a short story on the Mary Celeste around the time of the trial that was so popular that many believed that what happened in the story actually happened to the Mary Celeste.
To counter someone from last week, I personally love it when Johnny opens with "We're rolling" and it feels weird if he doesn't. Pls come back.
people were far more angry about the cartoony graphics of windwaker than anything else
One big correction for the Terror: it's in the Canadian Arctic territory, not Antarctica. Probably wouldn't have had as many Inuit themes in Antarctica haha
You're right! It's up north. Amazing book 👌
This episode reminds me of Event Horizon and Alien LOL 😆 sci fi ghost ship
Best part of the week, right here.
Tacoma fan here. It's the trees and the weather. The fog enveloping the forests in the mountains. Twin Peaks vibes.
My favorite spooky ship story is the Edmund Fitzgerald. Because lake superior is so cold that bacteria can’t grow like they normally would, the bodies are presumed to be preserved within the ship. They’re still finding forgotten wrecks at the bottom of the lake as recently as 2016
I'm so glad you talked about Wind Waker's ghost ship
My go to for ghost ship is the Abandoned Ship from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. In ORAS it was updated as "Sea Mauville" to have this haunted narrative about a man who was part of the project to make a city on the water. The project failed and you find this wrecked ship full of holes and rusted doors with memos and notes in the rooms. The man worked a lot and was away from his family, I think it's implied his son got sick and passed away or they moved on without him or something..? You follow these notes to a room where if you go to the menu and come back, a fucking Spiritomb appears behind you, presumably the spirit of someone or some kind of grief associated the man having to be away from his family. I though that was wild and I wished they did stuff like this more lol
I love that ghost ship, I remember feeling like I really found something exciting because I wasn’t using a Player’s Guide or a walkthrough
Love the show, but can you guys try lowering the bass level? It’s vibrating the hell out of my room lol
Great topic! Also enjoyed the bonus Wind Waker talk! Funny enough, the ship that Davy Jones captains in the Pirates movies is* the Flying Dutchman.
I didn't play much of Wind Waker. The ghost ships I remember the most are the one from Tales of Vesperia and Legend of Dragoon.
Go to the Star of India by Seaport village!
I used to live in the Seattle/Tacoma area but I had to move because it was too scare-rousing
Thanks for another great episode of ZeldaCast!
Ghost Ship rocked because it had Mudvayne in the soundtrack
Let’s goooo baybay! Mega Strange All DAY
I was so certain this episode was gonna be a bit where they talk about zelda for an hour and then ghost ship sightings for 7 minutes.
Ordered the Terror, look forward to reading it! We need Derrick to start a book club to complete the patreon club trilogy
As a mariner in the washington/ vancouver/ victoria area, I am definitetly NOT turned on by maritime ghosts.
My favorite pirate ship is Degrassia: The Next Generation
This was genuinely scary. I was already afraid of open water...
you guys need to watch Triangle of Sadness!
I've figured out 'SLT DDY' but i seriously still dont get' PSY LAR'
those stories are fucking wild
there's derelict ships floating all over the ocean right now abandoned for various reasons, maybe another episode someday on those would be cool
Strange this episode is only 14 minutes, but I'd never think we'd get a Wind Waker episode! Woooo!
Anyhoo, the wrecked ship in Super Metroid legitimately creeped me out as a kid.
I saw Titanic at a young ago so I was terrified of ships/boats for a long time. Also, whenever I think of ghost ships, I think of an episode of The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo lol
This was the perfect episode to listen to after just coming off a cruise. Gonna be on the look out for ghost ships if I ever go on another
kenpo only works in baki
i don't think you need to beat any video game in order to enjoy it, beating it will probably just cause you to enjoy it differently
Any update on the extended interview with the super heroes?
Good stories also!
heck yeah!
imagine getting a tattoo of a ship, and that ship being haunted
Lmao derick said he’s in our pants
Always makes my work day go by faster! Thanks guys! 🙏
Also just watched Nope recently and really liked it! What did you guys think?
Hell yeah
JohnnY
Argh lfffgggg
Love how the "Flying Dutchman" appears in One Piece as an actual, physical ship, but it's potentially the oldest ship in history and captained by the half-fish descendant of its original owner that's now 10,000 feet below sea level.
