    I’ve been after a nice keyboard for a while, but at the same time I’m obsessed with owning an FM synth. However, the budget is somewhat tight and make a double purchase was out of reach.
    Then, some how I stumbled on the MX and checked all my boxes!
    It’s a versatile, great sounding keyboard-✅
    It has FM synthesis ability-✅
    And I can afford it- ✅
    🤷‍♂️
    Gotta love it 😊

    Tried one out today @ Guitar Center. I have the MX61 so I know the sounds are good and the same but, the key action was not good. It has the GHS entry action, noisy, sloppy and bouncy. My old P90 with the GHE action is 100% better. For the price point you would think Yamaha could upgrade the action. Liked the Roland RD88 better than anything on display. IMHO

    Hello, I have a Yamaha MX88. I bought an expression pedal and can't find any tutorial to set it up. Could you tell me how to do it?
    My wish is to have 2 sounds (for example, piano + organ) and to be able either to switch completely from one sound to the other, or to have only one sound and to evolve, using the pedal, towards the 2 sounds mix. Help, I'm lost! In advance, thank you for your answer. PS: I consulted the documents sold with the piano, there is no explanation in them

    The question is: how bad is the ghs keybed? Does it feel good? Is it durable when heavily played for hours? How easy is it to repair and how much expensive to repair? Better than sp6?

    Question:
    Is there a way to assign a specific voice to each of the 4 knobs? Say I want a strings in the 1st one, Bass in the 2nd one, a Pad in the third and a different piano voice in the 4th. Is there a way I can do that while having the piano as the main voice and just use the knob to increase the sound of whatever voice I choose? Thanks!

Also, do the DAW controls work with Logic/Digital Performer/Protools besides Cubase? Thanks!

    Sir, I'm a transpose player. In PSR 3000 series, there is 8 saved preset so when I press it (the one below the screen), I have 8 preset (it's not just save the sound but it's include the point of the transpose. Exp number 1, I save C key, number 2 I save C# and number 3 I save D. So when I play song with increase in keys, I just press number 2 and when It goes up again, I just need to press 3). Is this keyboard have the same like PSR? Thank you so much b4

    I'm looking for a synth that will allow you to create multiple layers/splits etc which can be saved and easily recalled for live performance.
    I'm assuming this keyboard will allow more than 2 layers without connecting it to a P.C?

      The Yamaha models it’s sounds from the Motif sound engine. It’s known for its legendary and classic piano and electric piano sounds. The Juno DS sounds are coming from the Fantom and it’s more suited and built to be a synthesizer for the synth and bass and effects types of sounds. I own a Motif and Juno G.

    • @officialWWM
      @officialWWM 4 года назад

      Andre Thomas ok, thank you, that's the kind of info I'm looking for. I'm not a pianist, I'm actually a guitarist but I've been learning some keyboards. I play pop, rock, blues etc in my band so I want something that can do all the classic 80s sounds and organs etc. the piano sounds are just one aspect. My concern with the Yamaha is the number of reports I've seen of the actual keys failing after 6 months of use :/

    Hi, really hope you or someone can help. Just got an MX88, love the sounds. I've noticed in a performance that only the category I've selected for part 1 and 2 actually change while the other category voices default to 001.
    When i play I am switching between piano, electric piano, org, layering strings and/or splitting for keybass. I'd like to set the default voice (part?) in each category to my personal preference instead of the default. I'd like it to retain the information; otherwise I have to reset everything if I switch a performance.
    How can I do this? Without it, the performance section is not very useful to me.
    I've also seen recommendations to update the firmware but I don't see a firmware update on the yamaha site.

    Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem...ew... yesI said the "P" word! For decades I have chosen Yamaha because I rely on the quality and I've never had a problem...Well until I got an MX88. I feel the same way about Tascam. I don't know if it's just me or what but it seems these days everything is being made so cheaply. The tech is there but the hardware has gotten cheaper every decade. ANYWAY... I got my MX88 last June specifically to tackle a project I had planned for a year. Having previously had a few Motif's I'm familiar with what the MX has and for that...no surprises. The action is good, but I also have a P255 and these actions are supposed to be the same, but they are not. It's all about the feel. ANYWAY...right out of the box after getting everything setup to start the project I noticed a crackling noise every time I turned the MX on. Consistently on every power on with first note/chord strike. All on attack of the note. BUT... after a few notes it would subside. Knowing now... I should have immediately returned it, but anxious to get the project going I made the exception since the noise consistently seemed to subside upon playing. It was like it just needed to warm up. Fast forward to project completion. After weeks of practice and many out takes I had a track I was happy with. BUT as I began to listen more carefully readying for mixdown I began to notice there were STILL crackles within the track. Be they ever so subtle... they were there, all on the strike/attack of the note! Because this noise is specific to the strike/attack of the note I was able to work around it by playing a little less aggressively and was eventually able to get a keeper track. However some crackling was still there. I performed a number of tests to ensure it wasn't another piece of equipment or a bad cable and found unanimously my MX has a problem. So yesterday I boxed it up and sent it to the nearest service center and it should be interesting to see what they find. So that said... has anyone else noticed this dilemma?

    • @Roboprogs
      @Roboprogs 7 лет назад +1

      I'm gonna call this a "tier 1" board (under $1000, $700 for 61 keys). None of the Yammy/Korg/Roland (MX/Kross/Juno) tier 1 boards have a sequencer you would want to use.
      To get a sequencer, and more/better sounds, you go up to "tier 2" (MOXF/Krome/FA), and cough up $1500 or so.
      To get aftertouch and all the sounds, you go up to "tier 3" (Montage/Kronos/Jupiter), and cough up $3000 or so. Montage has the best samples, and an engine that combines FM with other non-sine waves, and who knows what other features...
