I "broke up" with my biological father and his wife, finally ending a 35 year cycle of abuse and recovering from repressed trauma. I am honored she sees me in this song, and grateful I can see me in it too. It's never too late to heal from trauma. It's never too late to take your power back. Live. Thrive. Survive in spite of them, because fuck those people who would perpetuate harm in that way.

My elbows and head-bobs work overtime to keep up with the beat but I play this song on BLAST in the car when I need a pick me up. It's happened a lot this year: I didn't get a graduation ceremony, got laid off, struggled with job searching during the pandemic, am now a caretaker for my mother who broke both her wrists while recovering from Covid-19. Life can be really difficult sometimes, but praise God I am alive, my family is healthy, and we can thrive through the struggle.
Been listening to this song all summer and it will never get old 💜 I love this song so much and it makes me so happy. Underrated song and band in my opinion.
