For those few seconds that everything dropped and the spotlight was on George for that guitar solo, not only did he nail it, but that was a fast click of the tone switch back to the main riff. Perfection! 1:40
The beatles were magical. There may be no other group like them ever again. They blended so well together and had it all; talent, charm, confidence and always looked like they were having a good time. No wonder the girl was in awe of them.
I’ve always though the “She’s got a ticket to ride” part John’s voice was double tracked. But now I see it’s Paul’s voice singing in unison 😱🤯😍 Their voices were made for each other. They’re so similar 👌🏼✨
steve jobs and wazniak got in a big argument about this song. "John was John cause he wrote Ticket to Ride!" That he did. But McCartney contributed: the signature guitar lick, the totally unique drumming which he taught to Ringo, and the thundering bass. go figure.
Notice at 1:58, that young woman in the audience is crying and crying. I bet something just happened in her life that was very similar to this song, like maby her heart was broken when she broke up with her boyfriend who gave her a ticket to ride away from him to go to that Sullivan Show alone.
Why were The Beatles so great? 1, They could sing and play. Their music was far superior to what was popular before them. 2, They wrote most of their own songs, and their songs were great. That was relatively new in the 60s. and 3, They were attractive and had great personalities. There will never be another Beatles.
I believe the story that the original title and what they are singing is 'Ticket To Rye'. Capitol Records messed it up when they thought it was Ticket To Ride. Watch they're vocals, they ain't saying 'Ride'.
This performance used a backing track. It was recorded on the Saturday before. The 64 performance was live, and the band was about drowned out by the screams, so Ed made sure that they could be heard by the TV audience at home.
Not a backing track. They prerecorded the entire song live in the studio, vocals included, ahead of time. They they lip-synched to this “live” track. Very common practice from the 50s through the 70s when shows didn’t want the canned feeling of an “American Bandstand” performance but also didn’t want to risk anything during a live performance if it could be avoided.
@@jmdocs It was recorded live on Saturday and shown on Sunday because Sunday they were playing Shea. No lip synching, as proven by Jagger sneaking in Lets spend the night together at least once after promising not to, and The Doors being banned from the show years later for similar reasons.
😂 Right! She was just done! Absolutely finished. I always thought that the actress, Kate Walsh (Grey's Anatomy & Private Practice) , could portray this woman in a remake of this performance. 😊
John and Paul on the same mic. Absolute magic.
It is SO cute when they smile at each other!
Even better when George, Paul and John sing in the same mic like “This Boy”.
@@twinsuns6629 Nah, three's a crowd 😉

Ringos drumming really shines in this song
Imagine early 1960's families at home watching this and parents or even kids would say, "WHAT IS THIS BANGING HARD ROCK STUFF?"
What a well oiled machine they were!

So true. There was something so magical about the four of them together. Its a chemistry that can't be duplicated
there was a magic!

Paul is not singing in unison, he singing harmony. Sometimes an octave harmony, sometimes a fifth.
@@lexdunn4160 you’re right; but specifically the “she’s got a ticket to ride, she’s got a ticket to ride” they are singing in unison
Why do they say "she don't care"? it should be "she doesn't care".
@@fathanahafizhmuslim7884 just to fit the lyrics with the music
@@fathanahafizhmuslim7884 Sometimes improper grammar sounds better musically, it's quite common in songs.
Lennon, McCartney...cant be beat!!!
Weird to see Harrison alone on the right mic and John and Paul on the left.
Great playing from Harrison.
Paul
PLEASE PERFORM THIS LIVE!
The One, The Absolute Only....
Just 2 but remember watching with my older brother and sisters !! Beautiful memories ❤️
John and Paul. Brothers forever
I feel so old. Watched this on black an white tv , never missed Ed Sullivan .
Me too! A few years later I was recording at Abbey Road and was blessed by meeting them at the studio! Nicest guys ever, zero attitude….
Great performers. Again great performers.

Some people can't accept Paul's true talent. He's so amazing
Still crazy good.
4 Legends 👌🏻👍🏻
They were fantastic. And the look John gives Paul at is 2:20 is inteeresting.
you mean Paul sang My baby doesn't care?
@@Bella-nt7ec Yes, he gives Paul this funny look.

1:57 as well, John didn't sing that part too well, i think his voice was tired.
Sadly the following week the Ed Sullivan Show would start broadcasting in full color!
Amazing

Like. No ego display b.s. which is all too common now. And the music has suffered as a consequence.

no, Paul's relatives lived in Ryde they went there so John apparetly liked the pun
