Awww thanks! It was terribly busy at Chatsworth, sometimes it was very noisy and not so nice but I managed to find enough footage without having people everywhere as they would have spoilt the experience.
The Illumination Walk was like from a fairy tale. Thank you for showing Mr Toad’s Christmas...he is a favorite character of mine from Wind in the Willows.

My heart is breaking, I had to have my gorgeous 7 Yr old pug put to sleep, she had terminal cancer, and I have been sitting here in floods of tears. Started to look for something on RUclips and your gorgeous videos popped up of your travels around the beautiful English villages and stately homes. Thanks so much! Our thought was that Chatsworth might have lost a lot of money due to lockdown last year at Christmas when all the houses had planned and decorated everything. It's quite an undertaking and very costly so they might want to be safe and using things they had. Just a guess but possible. It was definitely very different and many people that we overheard felt the same.
It was the great spread of perfect lawns and the occasional garden statuary and the wet shimmer on the grass and the stillness and the slight mist - I adore mists and fogs - that I found most beautiful. Thank you again, K&J.

My inner child rejoiced when seeing the Christmas displays and the illuminated walk. So many happy memories from my childhood turned up. A heartfelt thank you to you both. Many of the loved ones I have spent Christmas with are already gone. But I have my daughter living with me so we will spend the Christmas days just like Kirsten said: a nice festive vegan meal, a good book and simply being with each other.
Chatsworth is surely one of the great houses that might be on the "to do" list one day. Thanks so much for the festive peak! Funny about the bratwurst!

I would be happy just seeing the blue and white porcelain, although the photos of Christmas with Mr. Toad looked very pretty. The illumination walk, very pretty.
I toured Chatsworth in July, 2018. It was beautiful then and can only imagine how impressive the Christmas decorations are. Also, Castle Howard was on our trip and loved it. But have to say that I'l love to see each manor house all set up for the holidays. There was a drought in 2018, so all of the fountains were not operating.
Chatsworth is so pretty by itself, but I agree their indoor Christmas displays were less impressive than Castle Howard's. They may have spent too much on the illuminated walk with not much budget left for the house, haha! I love it whenever you visit the Peak District and share your visit with us. Fingers crossed for the Russian Cottage next time!
Yes, it's really pretty in itself. Our thought is that they might have lost a fortune when last year's Christmas at Chatsworth couldn't happen so it was safer to do a display of what they had in their archive.

Yes! These houses are beautiful and yet how sad to see no Nativity on display.You wonder if they actually know what Christmas is the celebration of. As beautiful as the decor is, it's sadly shallow and empty with no acknowledgement of the birth were actually celebrating.

You can see how much work has gone into it all . I bet the caterers were a bit wary serving Bratwurst to two Germans 😂!! I'm sure you've tasted better too. Those table settings are amazing , I always wonder where they put the turkey !! I toured Chatsworth in July, 2018. It was beautiful then and can only imagine how impressive the Christmas decorations are. Also, Castle Howard was on our trip and loved it. But have to say that I'l love to see each manor house all set up for the holidays. There was a drought in 2018, so all of the fountains were not operating.
Chatsworth is so pretty by itself, but I agree their indoor Christmas displays were less impressive than Castle Howard's. They may have spent too much on the illuminated walk with not much budget left for the house, haha! I love it whenever you visit the Peak District and share your visit with us. Fingers crossed for the Russian Cottage next time!
@Laura Watkins it may also be a level of caution considering how many events have been cancelled due to covid over the last nearly two years.
Yes, it's really pretty in itself. Our thought is that they might have lost a fortune when last year's Christmas at Chatsworth couldn't happen so it was safer to do a display of what they had in their archive.

Such stunning scenery and beautiful decorations. Amazing how even on grey days U.K. countryside/villages still look breathtaking. I always loved the dark Autumn and winter days back home more than the warmer months. Thank you for wonderful days out with you. God bless

Yes! These houses are beautiful and yet how sad to see no Nativity on display.You wonder if they actually know what Christmas is the celebration of. As beautiful as the decor is, it's sadly shallow and empty with no acknowledgement of the birth were actually celebrating.
@@serenitypeaceandcomfort3669 They had a Nativity display in their chapel. However, we weren't able to film there as it was packed with people.
I think seeing the lights outside at night would also be equally stunning thank you

Hello Kirsten and Joerg thank you for this lovely video .I must say the decorations are breathtakingly , it must take forever to put them all up . It looks so magical . You can see how much work has gone into it all . I bet the caterers were a bit wary serving Bratwurst to two Germans 😂!! I'm sure you've tasted better too. Those table settings are amazing , I always wonder where they put the turkey !! Being a true fan of the 2005 Pride and Prejudice I was hoping you would shoot the sculpture room! The Veiled Woman sculpture moves me so no matter how many times I see it. What a treat to walk thru with you inside this wonderful place!

You were lucky guys, I tried times to get tickets for Chatsworth this year and failed. I've been going for years and years and it was a shame to miss it. I agree with your observation that the display is better when there's a story behind it. Thank you for showing it to us.
