    Donny ,
Always good to see ya. Definitely not a soccer fan…
Each is their own. 😂 love the hat bro. Enjoy the Pipe and Pour… My personal choice Peter Stokkebye Bullseye Flake, Granger and C&D Gray Ghost.
    Blessings from Gettysburg Pa….

Ha! Thanks for the brilliant response! Fantastic insights and solid advice! It’s definitely been breezy, so cigars and pipes have burned quickly - but have been enjoyable nonetheless!
Sadly, the first of my rum concoctions was not well received… I messed something up - which seems hard to do?! However, the old reliable Dark & Stormy has worked quite well! And it’s all paired nicely with my blends selections… more to come on that front! 😉

Enjoy the vacation! I’d go with windjammer, but I usually take my favorite blend on vacation. Also I usually take an aromatic since I’ll probably be sitting around others. My go to for that is Warped Saint Espresso

Hey Donnie! I'm gonna vote for Windjammer, either of the Caribbean Blues, and Rum Flake! I've only ever had Windjammer, but the others sound like nice beach blends. Enjoy!

Hey Donnie! Windjammer and the rum vanilla are my choice.the rum flake wouldn't hurt either! Enjoy the trip sir.

The classic codger match Rum and maple!!! By Sutliff If you dont wanna go codgery Id say go Salty Dogs! I know these weren't in your arsenal.....but had to vote.

I'd go for Windjammer. I wouldn't pick a Latakia blend as I'd be worried it might overpower the El Dorado. The K&K blends might taste like summer but they probably wouldn't be that satisfying for me. That's my 2cents, interesting to see what you'll go with, happy holidays.

Sound advice re: Latakia blends - which is very much appreciated! But I must admit that I was surprised by the K&K blend that I did decide to bring along! Stay tuned!

Alright. The Gulf Coast is a favorite destination for the family from AL to FL. I typically opt for something bright and zesty like Cornell & Diehl’s Bourbon Bleu. You’re spinning the cylinder here taking mystery blends out of town, so I’ll recommend Windjammer. It’ll stand up to whatever beverage you pair it with and it’s certainly a good one. I’ve talked about it before a few times.
Safe travels my friend and I hope y’all have a great time as a family.

It’s been a wonderful time so far - great weather, lots of sun, seashells (and jellyfish!), laughs and food! Thankfully I’m pretty easy to please (or unrefined?) so no worries about taking a risk on bringing some unknown to me blends! And thankfully - so far, so good! And thanks for the Bourbon Bleu recommendation - sounds like one I need to check out for next time! Thanks for the insights dude!

    Hiyas Donnie,
I've been in Football ⚽ paradise the last 2 weeks. Some fantastic matches on the pitch.
The only baccy I've had out of the choices is "Sunset Harbor" I enjoyed it enough to buy 4 oz for the rotation. I couldn't believe that it's sans Virginia. I've heard good things about Windjammer as well. Here's to a super relaxing and fun beach vacation with some tasty pipes & pours
    Gary

Howdy Gary! Yes - the football ⚽️ action was great! And now we’ve got the Olympic soccer matches going, with the EPL and other European leagues starting up soon! I love it! Sunset Harbor did not make my cut for this trip, but I do enjoy orientals and am looking g forward to trying it soon! But I have not been disappointed in my selections this far! Actually surprised by one of them! More to come! Cheers my friend!

Thank you Gary! It has been a fantastic trip so far - lots of rest, lots of play… and the rum/tropical blends I chose to bring along have been wonderful! Even if you don’t care for a sip of rum, these rum blends might be right up your hopeless aromatic alley?! 😉

El Dorado 12 is a great start for sure.
The Windjammer and the G&W are the only 2 of those I've tried.
Windjammer is awesome with a lot of rum, but you better like perique.
I'm going to give you my opinions for Windjammer.
It's usually breezy at the beach, so I would want a blend that burns cool stays lit easily and is easy to work with. Im going to guess the aro's would fail that test. Windjammer covers all the above, and tastes great.
I wouldn't want to be dealing with hard flakes that need drying time.
Maybe the blockade runner would as well but I wouldn't know.
    Have fun on your trip.
I've given up on finishing jars before opening another, so you might as well bring a few and treat yourself to some variety. Enjoy a little lack of the self discipline I no longer have.
If you find my advice to be stupid afterwards tell me I'm an idiot.
If it turns out good, I will expect an easy but great rum cocktail recipe, and a quality rum recommendation. Just joking on the last sentence, but not really.
I hope you have a great time.

Donnie!!! Lookin' sharp, brother! I would take some of that Rum Vanilla as it is one of the top aromatics in my cellar - A big time crowd pleaser! Those K&K Caribbean blends sound promising. I recently opened a tin of Ashton "Smooth Sailing," which is also blended by the good folks at K&K. If the Caribbean series are as good as the Ashton blend, then I think you'll have a great time with either of those you currently own. What ever it is that you pick, May you enjoy it to the fullest as you relax with your dear family down on the gulf coast! Have a wonderful time, and may God bless you and yours! Love you, brother!!! 🙏♥️

      @PipeAndAPour  Месяц назад

Many thanks my brother! A compliment from the coolest of cool means a lot! It was a close competition between the Rum Vanilla and one the K&K blends for the third spot to make the trip… and I gave in to my curiosity and went with the K&K! And I have not been disappointed at all!
But more importantly, this time with my girls has been a true blessing - much needed time of rest, reflection, prayer, laughs… such a wonderful blessing! My words fail to describe the goodness of God on display this week!

I think the only one I have tried on your list is the gentleman's rum vanilla. I was a little underwhelmed with , but I was new into my pipe journey. I did hear similar comments from a few other people however. I know Gentry Vintage really likes it. I am letting mine age in the jar a bit and then I will try it again. Sorry I was not more help on the others.

If you want real rum, try Foursquare rums out of Barbados. NO added sugars, food coloring, and the age statement is true and factual. Foursquare includes Doorly’s, The Real McCoy, and R. L. Seale. Once you have one you will never go back to anything else.

      @PipeAndAPour  10 дней назад

Yes! Great call on the Foursquare offerings John! It is a superior rum - especially the cask selections ($$)!
