Yes he lost both of his parents only a year apart when he was 12-13 I believe. If you watch it again pay attention to the lyrics. While it sounds happy, fun, and upbeat, the lyrics are about him traveling Europe but still unable to escape the pain/trauma and unable to find help. The ending is him finally trying to let go and move on.

Joost (Yoast) found his mother lifeless on the sofa a year after his father died. He was 13, and in that instant he lost his home, his safe place, his life as a kid. Like in the clip, it all burnt down in a split second. He spent time in crisis care, he fought to get therapy but had to wait for 2 years. He told his parent he'd be on that stage when they watched it together. This clip is about every memory he's got when life was still good and he wants children to remember watching ESC with their parents and having a laugh.

Europapa is a masterpiece....
Yes he lost both of his parents only a year apart when he was 12-13 I believe. If you watch it again pay attention to the lyrics. While it sounds happy, fun, and upbeat, the lyrics are about him traveling Europe but still unable to escape the pain/trauma and unable to find help. The ending is him finally trying to let go and move on.
Even after all these months I love watching Europapa reactions. I wait for the ending always brings confusion and questioning to the reviewers. I

Nice reaction👍 Yes his parents died when he was still young 12/13, first his father, a year later his mother. He always watched the song festival with them, and then had the wish to be there one day.

Joost (Yoast) found his mother lifeless on the sofa a year after his father died. He was 13, and in that instant he lost his home, his safe place, his life as a kid. Like in the clip, it all burnt down in a split second. He spent time in crisis care, he fought to get therapy but had to wait for 2 years. He told his parent he'd be on that stage when they watched it together.
This clip is about every memory he's got when life was still good and he wants children to remember watching ESC with their parents and having a laugh.
