    In 70s and 80s military surplus stores would buy from military through auctions requiring them to have a contract with DOD. In this manner clandestine operatives or contractors could get whatever supplies were needed then after the mission or operation was over the after-action report would explain what they got and from who, then DOD would reimburse the surplus store for loses with a little extra for hush money. The instructions are attached by a metal wire look for those if new, if refurbished plastic tie strap loop.

The dynamic between them, here, is the kind of dynamic you find between buddy _cops._ It's _much_ more believable.

I’ve been collecting his works, and I love them to death. Fun fact: the music in commando has a prominent use of steel drums and reusing motifs from 48 hours. There's a reading of this film that says Bennett was secretly into John but couldn't process it in ways other than violence. It would explain all the crazy eyes and weird dialogue between the two. "Put a knife in me." Of course, Vernon Wells, the actor playing Bennett denies this reading. Vernon Wells would find a new life on TV (& later on in conventions) as Ransik, a villain (that later reformed) in Power Rangers: Time Force.

    I have been on a number of flights to Asia and Australia that were over 11hrs - usually 12 to 16 hrs (from New York). Many people (usually heavy-set men over 50) that have died in-flight from a condition known as Arterial Thrombosis. That is why they advise NOT to drink alcoholic cocktails on those long flights (the thinner Air brings it on quickly), which is why they now make people do leg and arm exercises every 4 hours or so. One of my old bosses passed that way on a flight from Chicago to Paris during a 10-hr flight. It's tough, since being in Business or First Class allows you to drink as much as you want for no extra charge.
    By the way, I saw this movie in the mid 90's with my 8-yr old son (who was born in 1986) on HBO. I loved it - Pure Arnold the Terminator. That son later became a U.S. Marine and is now a Deputy Sheriff in North Carolina.

    • @carybrown851
      @carybrown851 Год назад

      Yep. If the engine is out, you lose the "brake booster" and steering assist, but both systems continue to function even without power. It just requires more force to achieve the same effect.
      That, of course, is with traditional automobiles. Some current vehicle designs are starting to go full "drive by wire." That is, pure electronic control with no PHYSICAL link in the control system.
      I would personally never drive in any car with that installed. The laws of physics never break, never fail. Electronics can, and do, fail... and regularly, at that. If a single flipped bit could make my car steer left when I try to steer right ... no thank you!

    Bun, James Horner basically borrowed much of his own music here from an earlier action movie, 48 HRS, the big screen debut of Eddie Murphy, so if you see that you'll recognize a lot. (The director here was a relatively minor talent, Mark L. Lester, who also helmed the movie Firestarter.) My favorite Arnold movie is Total Recall, but I do like these smaller throwaway action vehicles where he gets to make James Bond quips as people die -- I think his last really great one in that vein was 1996's Eraser. Alyssa Milano was already popular as a child star for her character, Samantha Micelli, on the TV series, Who’s the Boss? (1984-1922). She went to play one of the Halliwell sisters on Charmed (1998-2006).
    Rae Dawn Chong is the daughter of Tommy Chong of the famous duo, Cheech and Chong. Her breakout film was the brilliant Quest for Fire (1981) with Ron Perlman. Coincidentally, she was also in The Color Purple (1985) with Whoopi Goldberg, directed by Steven Spielberg.
    As for recommended Arnold movies, you should really see True Lies (1994), as that is another James Cameron film and Bill Paxton is in it as well. Then there is his breakout film, Conan the Barbarian (1982), Predator (1987), Red Heat (1988), Twins (1988), and, Total Recall (1990). Arnold does two things well, action and comedy films. He’s actually a funny guy.

    The "rocket launcher" is a four-round incendiary rocket launcher designated the M202 FLASH. It was adopted as a "safer" replacement for backpack style flamethrowers. Hostile forces developed a nasty habit of aiming at the huge tank of flammable liquid on the back of the soldiers armed with flamethrowers. The M202 warhead was filled with {IIRC} red phosphorus, a material that spontaneously ignites and burns when exposed to oxygen in the atmosphere. There were apparently some problems with the warheads on the rockets, making them somewhat less "safe" than planned.
    The "bombs" he deployed around the barracks buildings were Claymore antipersonnel mines. The mines consist of a curved plastic shell filled with plastique explosive. The convex face of the mine had several hundred steel balls embedded in the face of the plastique, creating shrapnel.

    Hey bunny, it’s me your friend, James! I love your videos. What a heartbreaking, but also heartwarming story about your late father. I like to point out some things about commando- a movie that I know since childhood best thing about being a kid in the 80s was watching movies you were too young for like Arnie so you know how the formula goes and how every action movie Has to be bigger and better than the last one. Well, coming from terminator commando is actually better than the Terminator in many ways. He rips the seat out of a car. You know those are both it in right. He lives a grown man in a telephone booth over his head and throws it Incredible Hulk style. He breaks a chain lock off of a fence just using his bare hand, like he-man. Jumped out of an airplane unhurt those go like 200 miles an hour before they takeoff. As you do after he gets shot in the arm in the end, he seeks no medical attention, but Justin‘s dad carries his daughter away on with that arm, I think. He swings like Tarzan, which a terminator wouldn’t be doing ever. It would take some kind of superhuman strength for the force. It would take to impale cook on that table leg. I’ve studied this movie extensively. I love it. It’s the ultimate toxic male fantasy. Just for fun check out the parity RUclips movie commando ninja. We’ll talk about it later. Ha ha. Please check out the trailer. The action sequence is almost shot for shot the same thing as the end of commando.

      Oh- that log in the beginning had to weigh 1000 lbs. he carried it like styrofoam 🤔 I still don’t understand how that steam is supposed to be blasting out of the pipe that impaled Bennet- it would have to go ALL THE WAY THRU! and suck the air out of (something) 🤷🏿‍♂️ I learned behind the scenes Sully had to be held up over that cliff BY A CRANE! because no one can hold a grown man by the ankle that way with one arm! The weight distribution is too unbalanced (Arnold himself had to explain that to the 😍 starstruck director!)

    Hard to pick a favorite Arnold movie as there's quite a few really good ones; but, if pressed, I'd have to say Conan The Barbarian - not just a favorite Arnold movie, but one of my all time favorite movies period. The success of that film pretty much launched an entire genre of imitator films in the early to mid-80s that I call "Warrior of the Wasteland" and/or "Sword and Sorcery" films. Anyway, it's really good and you should react to it on your channel.
    Nice reaction for this one. Until next time.

    Vernon Wells (who plays Bennett) can also be seen in the Road Warrior (sometimes called Mad Max 2) and in Weird Science (as an at least visually identical character to the one in Road Warrior.
