I have found the powder sticking is usually static cling. If you have any try taking a dryer sheet and rub it over tools, pans etc. I also cut up a half of sheet into smaller squares and throw then into my tumbler.... helps 210%!! Thank you for the great content!!!!
One reason for the rejection could be that the concentricity of the 3 projectile components is off. i.e. the steel core, lead layer, and copper jacket are not uniform. The total weight may be good, but if the steel is off center, or the copper is too thick on one side, the bullet will be unbalanced in flight and will shoot in a spiral. This results in a larger group, even though the bullet is stabilized around a center of mass that is not the same as the physical center.
I forgot to say thanks for the info. It also seems to confirm my bias against extruded powders. Life is too short for trickling when you can get good standard devs on charge weight by simply switching to something like CFE 223 and a lee auto drum on your progressive. It got me interested in reading around and I found this post which you might appreciate: www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/5-56-nato-62gr-load-info-m855.767163/#post-9707717
Thanks for the reply. The multi layer ammo inherently has tolerance stacking, not even counting the human shooter. It makes sense to me. IMO it does a pretty good job considering.
So far after range testing I've concluded that the M855/SS109 ammunition pretty much sucks. I shot the stuff today and I'm rendering the video now. The rifle I used is a custom built AR with a 24" Lilja barrel in 1/8" twist. It'll shoot under an inch at 300 with the right load. The one "surplus" load that really shines is the Geco 55gr FMJ. It's sub MOA all day.
Generally foreign military M855 isn’t painted because most of those countries never fielded 1/12” twist guns and 55gr 5.56 ammo so they don’t need to differentiate.
Seeing lots of hand tools used by you and i assume all are non sparking. Can you recommend a reliable manufacturer of these. I have read fair criticism on metals composition of branded products so i seek user opinion.

I pulled some M855 LC apart and was very surprised by the variation in the powder loads.
How much, and what kind of powder did it appear to be?
The Israeli stuff is pretty right on. The other brands not so much.

Shot all the brands I have on hand today and they all shot about the same. Weird. I'll be uploading the video this weekend.

I really like to see this done with the PPU as I have quite a lot of it.
TAC actually has a recipe for m855

Yes...they designate the ammunition SS109. I have yet to find any 1MOA M855/SS109 ammo. I am on the lookout for Geco 62gr to test.
Ammosmith Reloading Geco should be impressive, I’ve found PMC XTAC 62gr shoots the best, at least from my sample size of one Colt barrel 😂
Have you measured the cartridge OAL either to the tip or ogive to see any variations?
The OAL from the tip to the base varies a lot. But that's typical. I need better instruments to measure from the ogive.
