    CAUTION!! Many scammers are using the comment section to promote their scams and sometimes even use the name “99Bitcoins” in their profile. Never send money to someone you don’t know and don’t accept offers to trade or exchange cryptocurrency from strangers.
    Stay safe 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

And the person selling me bitcoin wants my (foolish & outdated) currency even though it is not as advantageous as bitcoin. And in the end "handlers"all along the way each take a little cut. Oh, and I also have to be up to speed on every imaginable cyber-crime perpetrated by professionals who are far more knowledgeable than I am and who specialize in bitcoin scams.

    • @99Bitcoins
      @99Bitcoins  4 года назад +2

      Coinbase is US-based, yes, but has a UK division as far as I know. However, you will always pay lower bank charges if you avoid sending money internationally. I'm sure there's a Bitcoin exchange which uses bank accounts local to your country, especially if you're in the UK or EU. For the EU, I would recommend Bitstamp, as it's probably the longest-running Bitcoin exchange in existence and has had relatively few / minor problems over the years.

      No, what happens is that every time you try to buy a bit coin, all the servers across the planet verify your purchase. The process starts this race among thousands of servers to solve a puzzle. The first computer to solve the puzzle publishes it. And your bitcoin gets added to a big block of transactions.

    I have watched your videos.
    It seems simple, the next generation of payments.
    Although I am not sure if it will succeed I realize that it is similar to currently using points, not cash, at banks.
    Still more to learn.

    It might be helpful to discuss indirect ownership of Bitcoin (or, other cryptocurrency) via futures contracts, as these are commonly available via brokerages.

    I know no more about buying cryptocurrencies after watching this video than I did prior to watching it. The elephant in the room continues to be the cell phone. It appears that without a cell phone, crypto transactions are impossible.

      Hey there,
      Finding the best place (or exchange) to buy Bitcoins depends mainly on where you live and what payment method you want to use. We listed the best Bitcoin exchanges here: 99bitcoins.com/best-bitcoin-exchanges-comparison-review/
      If you want to do a quick search for a good exchange based on your country look here: 99bitcoins.com/buy-bitcoin/
      Hope this helped.

    6:29 ‘Most exchanges today will have a Know You Customer process (also known as KYC) that you'll have to go through.’ : *This* is exactly why I'm out of the bitcoin game. When you find a wallet on the ground, sometimes you can identify the owner with other documents within the wallet but that may not always be the case. Bitcoin is like, let's just print the owner's mug on every single bill and coin of the wallet!

      @99Bitcoins I'm not using centralized apps like Which Sap, but you're always welcome to contact me on Mastodon. At the moment I managed to print myself a paper wallet, but I still need to put a couple of BTCs or BTHs on it to be able to use it like a normal currency. To be honest, it's a bit of a sad reality that most cryptos are only valued for speculation and not as actual paying methods to buy food, clothes and the likes. If I ever open that zero waste grocery store I dream about, I'd love to operate with bitcoins to go paper-free in my accounting books.

    I am a complete beginning, just researching the topic at the moment.... Not sure if this is for me... How about identity theft? Apart from a risk of having your funds stolen, fraudsters may be after your ID data, which can be used to set up fake accounts, etc. This is why I am highly sceptical about wallet that require ID verification upon registration.... Is there a way to avoid the verification step? I do not want to leave my sensitive personal data, such as mu NI card or my passport number at the hands of the 3rd party.... I have heard they are required to keep the data for at least 5 years; they cannot delete it after you have completed your transaction... . This is highly problematic from the data security point of view... Are there any wallets that do to require ID verification and are secure to use?

    • @99Bitcoins
      @99Bitcoins  4 года назад

      Wallets won't require your ID, at least the vast majority of them which aren't linked to any other service. You can download crypto wallets without giving any info, just like you'd download any other open source (and sometimes proprietary) software.
      I think instead of wallets, you mean exchanges, which are companies that allow you to trade crypto. And yes, there are ways to avoid ID verification here too. The usual way is to use a peer-to-peer exchange, which helps you to make private trades with other individuals. Examples include Bisq.network and HodlHodl.com. I would say these methods are as secure as centralized exchanges (which require ID) if not more so, given that ID theft is largely prevented. However, P2P exchanges are more difficult and dlow to use. It will take some time to figure out how to use them properly, especially if you're new to crypto, but it's a good way to go if you value your privacy.

      @@99Bitcoins Thank you, Nate, for sharing. That's good to know. Very helpful, indeed. Yes, I meant online wallets on trading platforms / exchanges... I wasn't aware of those peer-to-peer trading platforms... I've now registered with one centralised exchange. It is true: there is no way around ID verification as it is a legal requirement now. I've come to terms with it...
