To simplify, just play arc lash until you begin pushing nightmare dungeons and collect gear for the blizzard/ice shards build. This is the easiest progression.
Absolutely love this vid/format. Been trying to look at different classes/builds to make an alt and usually its just a tier list with no gameplay. Seeing the builds in action with explanations on top is just great.
Thanks. It took quite a long time to put this together (and this is also why the number of builds I talk about are limited --- because each build is 2-3 days and 30m gold minimum) but I'd love to do something similar again in the future.
in terms of the firewall build, the fate gauntlet's are a trap, i also have no issues at all killing bosses and getting high damage out using fire wall with meteor enchant (not using fireball) with the aspect that sends down meteorites with meteor, Meteor clears out all the mobs with the burst damage as well as provides the burst damage to help fire wall while fire wall ticks away high damage as well
Yeah I've got a lucky hit based firewall, same as you mentioned with meteor and firewall enchant. Firewall forward, tele back, frost Nova, inferno, flame shield + firewall spam clears. Meteorite aspect and DOT aspect are game changers. Mid level tho, 56-57 in wt3 so can't speak to endgame. Kicks ass with helltides for the moment.
This is actually exactly the vid i needed today, got my chain lightning to 55 and i was considering respec. This was very concise and easy to understand, ty
Or you could just learn what goes where via stats and and learning your skill tree instead of listening to someone who plays a hybrid I'm playing full lightning I'm at level 71 soloing world tier 4 dungeons just learn the build and how to Stat it.... its really not that difficult holy shit
I’ve been following Krip firewall guide from lv50-85, so far so good, def slow on boss but really strong with stacked pack because the fact everything triggers everything in this build.
Yes, me too. Firewall with meteor enchantment is amazing. Get high lucky hit and with raiment unique, just blink into pack of monsters and it destroys them. Only downside is when u are fighting huge mob or boss with good defenses. Its not a S tier for sure, but D is too low i think.
I’ve happen to find a really good middle ground for my Arc lash build. Utilizing high movement speed, very low cooldowns, high crit chance, lucky hit and barrier. After the patch I saw a couple videos using crackle energy + 40% to chain artifact to reduce all my cooldowns to maximize Unstable currents, aswell as throwing on a 10% reduce dmg to ball lighting rotating around me to significantly increase burst damage. I have been very successful in solo clearing S Tier 55s fairly quick at lvl 90. As I’m working to finish paragon levels to work on DR. That’s my only factor right now is getting 1 shot by mobs who shouldn’t be able to 1 shot through 8k health, 6k armor and an 8k barrier. I have not seen an updated arc lash build like mine yet. And it’s very very good for all content I’ve faced. Granted I’d imagine Uber Lilith would bend me if I ran her solo. But people sleep on ball lightning. Ice armor, teleport (ramant) fire shield, unstable and arc lash. Ball lightning being the enchantment + firebolt. Looking for high vulnerable damage, cdr , crit damage, movement speed, crit chance, lucky hit, lightning damage, max life gems and vulnerability on weapons, skulls on jewelry
similar boat; the recent patch really pushed things to have barely any CD on unstable: my current weapons rolled with some sweet sweet basic attack damage: slot topaz on top and that arc lash starts to really pack a punch. add iceheart and pick the right boards; all of a sudden you just shatterwhip room after room after room.
@@awmcclain I only use raiment as it makes the entire build work way better imo. Movement the stun and glass cannon spec are way too important to almost not use. I’m sure you could make it work with the right stats. But you would have to experiment
@@awmcclain i had to make something work pre-raiment: shatterwhip was my choice. icxeheart brais are kinda needed, but you can do a thing with frostburns and a special aspect, but it really "pops" with iceheart brais. raiments were the icing for my frostty cake
I have not even started the video yet, however I have respected your game knowledge in not only PoE for many years, but recently you were doing some build conceptualization on Last Epoch when I had also just began doing the same. I have a Rogue that I have tested and then re-tested to the point of disappointment and nausea so I began a Sorc for hopefully more nuance than the Rogue's currently capable of. Just hitting 70 I'm staring down the barrel of probably 120 million gold to farm to test when a ray of golden warmth breaks open my ceiling to soothe my scowling face. The golden light of the trusted aRPG build mechanic connoisseur - Tenkiei. Jokes aside I truly know your efforts and well articulated explanations will save me like AT LEAST 50 million gold in testing crap that I know is not going to work like I want BUT YA NEVER KNOW RIGHT. Well, thanks to you, now I know. So yeah, thanks dawg, Hope you're doing well and ready for some truly great competition in the aRPG space in the upcoming years. Last Epoch's proposed trade/SSF intertwined system sounds like they continue to have some fresh ideas that will keep them in the conversation.
I tried like 12 sorc builds..by far and away my favorite one fun wise and the one I'm sticking to is blizzard/icy weapons. Very fun trying to build up an army of icy weapons and you get 100% uptime on vulnerability on single target which feels soooo good. Plus other perks like massive stagger and stuff edit: also, man I tried so hard to fall in love with firewall because ignite is a cool mechanic..but I just couldn't get to a point enjoying it
For Arc Lash it's indeed very low entry requirements and lots of ways to "kinda make it work", but ultimate goal is to have Unstable Currents off cooldown as much as possible. I've been trying to figure ways to do just that, while keeping decent damage and defense: tweaking synergies with 4 defensive abilities, meteor, ice blades, ball lightning, etc. One I stopped at was Destructive Chain Lightning - best option for shortest cooldown times, especially with buffed Abundant energy Aspect and it's another source of damage. I'd say, currently comfort zone limit is around up to T60 (~115 lvl), and anything beyond that is a struggle - you just don't have damage and defense for it (in large part thanks to broken resistances...), but otherwise in general content you zap around instantly deleting packs of monsters, getting around pretty fast and whenever Unstable currents is off cooldown (which is almost always) you turn into thunder god wiping whole rooms of enemies with ease.
I’ve been playing an arc lash/blizzard build that I’m really enjoying. Have ice shield for survivability but not too many shields that I feel that is all I have to use. It’s a heavy crowd control build.
I don't have a video for the build or on a website, but basically have 50% csc, 135% csd, 6 points into devouring blaze, plus the usual aspects/ skills. Pop a meteor (immobilse), teleport (stun), frost nova (freeze) then boom
exactly what i was thinking. No love for meteor. With the right gear/rainment-ice shard-meteor do a million damage instantly and a bunch of dot. Get free firewalls all the time. Free meteors all the time. Hard cc on everything that isn't a boss, and make perfect use out of probably the best damage booster for pyro-mage with the bonus to immobilized. Eh idk. I haven't done the other ones in depth but nm 50 at level 90 is a breeze. Hard to think it's not even worth a mention with all the aspects for it!
It is interesting, I enjoy the crap out of my arc lash ball lighting build. I generate enough mana to spam a lot of BL's and they are the circle version, and my arc lash fast attack speed helps with hitting stun often. Bosses being immune to stun, it helps get stagger up quick. Not quite perfect yet, but it hasn't failed me yet. Trying to optimize for more dps though.
if you can get your unstable currents up 90% of the time, you can get rid of casting BL and all the mana stats, just go for straight damage and attack speed and still use the ball lightning circling. if you cant reach the 45+% CDR try the recently buffed crackling energy aspect! ATM arc lash is hitting 2M + on vulnerable/stunned very quickly. Having trouble with NM75+ though... just cant be melee for those. So blizzard is the way to go for that.
@@Tenkiei Yeah, I farmed some aspects to have only 10% damage reduction for the circle casting. It is somewhat like/based on the James build ruclips.net/video/KA04ZAd-igc/видео.html, however, I am taking some lessons on paragon and reordering things to have a higher base damage to scale from. The playstyle is frantic, however it is fun. ruclips.net/video/BYs-6NGeR0w/видео.html is where I was the other day.
@@PeterDragon93 How many barriers do you have? I tend to jump in and out and back in when tanking big bosses. Having tele enchant and boots with + evade uses is great for that.
I combined Arc Lash with Charged bolts. It’s well balanced but I will say once the mobs get 9 lvls above you it gets a little slow to clear large packs of elites.
firewall build was easy if a bit slow but once I started getting good stat rolls and paragon points, idk what I did but it MELTS almost everything, bosses are no real issue, very tanky and the synergies between aspects/skills/passives/enchantments just works so well, and im only getting stronger edit- i use firewall/meteor combo, the meteor is just there for the enchanment and the immobilize effect
Ahh another Fire Wall enjoyer, i felt like some of the builds done were half assed, Fire Wall takes a bit to get going but man does it start to melt, as soon as i got the aspect of the meteorites with meteor i knew what my build was going to be lmao
I think firewall was unjustly trashed, Firewall allows the sorc to get a lot of extra defenses whereas other sorc builds can't as they risk falling behind in damage, firewall sorcs can forgo crit chance on rings for max HP. Also for boss damage while not a fix I use exploiters and the 50% extra damage on unstoppable helps a ton.
yeah he's totally sleeping on FW. its the safest, but slowest build. bosses are a joke. throw some FW's and w/e else and just run around until everything dies.
I have been trying to love firewall, I really have. I want a fire sorc soooo bad, but I must be doing something wrong because I do next to no damage with it. I had to switch back to ice and it makes me sad
I played Chain Lighting to lvl 30 and switched and made my own build what became Hybrid fun to see it being rated S tier as it felt really good and it was hard to let go of it. I'm letting diablo rest untill S1 and i will play with friends. Perhaps a Video with build/classes that could synogize well with teammates? +subbed great vid
Since DII I have loved firewall. I actually make a blizzwall sorc always. Use blizzard and some cold for CC and the firewall for main damage. I use Hydra as well
My lvl 100 sorc is pure ice shard build. i tried hybrid and blizzard but its very slow coz the time u cast multiple blizzards then fire off ice shard, you have already cleared the dungeon with pure ice shard. within 20 lvls above you pure ice shards just decimate everything and you can also push even higher tier i mean hybrid can also do that but it would take you double the time. with ice shard you only teleport in and boom, most of the time you wont even need to fire off your core skill.
I'm trying to get my ice shard to do damage, but it feels like I'm falling off hard at lv 89. I'm going to switch to blizzard because the shard attack by itself just doesn't do enough unless I'm missing something very critical in the build?
@@fiftytwo_nyif your enemies are stunned, frozen, immobilized, and vulnerable and you are still not happy with your damage then something is wrong lol. if they are not all of those above effects when you hit them then that’s your problem 👍🏼
@@glennausloos701 with the pure ice shard build I don't use any other spells besides ice armor, flame shield, teleport, frost nova and the "oh shit I'm surrounded" super. All the ice shard builds I see use these spells.
Since arc lash relies on unstable currents would you move it up a rank if you could have essentially permanent unstable current? That is the build I use. The more enemies the better. It's only downfall is if there are no enemies around you can't generate crackling energy and therefore can't generate cool down. So basically the faster you clear and move onto the next mob the better. With a 3sec teleport and a 10sec CD on UC it's fun, fast and efficient.
I play a similar version you mentioned and it’s the fastest sorc build by far. I can solo clear T40+ at level 85 in a few minutes. I feel the build relies more on frost nova than unstable currents.
@@kopfschusstv4764 agreed. The lack of vulnerability hurts. The double frost nova aspect helps. I run a lot with a friend who does the vulnerable application for me and I do the screan destruction.
If you are playing a Sorc on season 1 create 2 seperate specialisation builds Lightning and either fire or cold. As each will drop gear the other needs. I started off with lightning picked up bugger all for that type but for cold and and fire fully decked out for either at different levels. So started a fire build, hence the spark/hydra build. First 3 uniques that dropped were near perfect aspects for a lightning build and keep getting drops for lightning. Using fire build, now Tier 3. Need better fire gear play lightning build. Thinking making hybrid build next got a level 47 boots drop with+2 to flame shield, teleport and frost nova. Also got a+2 to defense skills amulet, get them upgrade to +3. , Can see where I am going with this
I love arc lash. Pop currents, teleport around, when currents is over, pop currents again. The ultimate is always up. If you got the raiment chest piece, the teleport buff that lets you shoot more CE. And the lash perk that deducts CD when hitting stunned enemies. Your ultimate is up before it’s done casting.
I don't know what you're doing to have that much uptime for Currents. I have the maximum CD reduce i can get and it's still 44 sec cd, 10 sec uptime thats 34 sec of CD you'd have to try and burn down in 10 seconds. at 0.15 sec per arc lash stun hit (with raiment) that's 226 hits on enemies with arc lash, at any time hitting more than 4-5 enemies is unlikely and with proper damage they are dead within 1-2 attacks. I don't see how anyone could reduce Currents cooldown to more than 20-25 sec downtime. Let alone what you're describing as 0 downtime, which I'm assuming is a bit of an exaggeration meaning 5-10 sec down time. Simply no build will make that happen, or am I missing something?
There is a build I have been running on Sorc since level 70, with Ball Lightning It has good Nightmare clear and decent single target damage. Mana can be an issue if you do not have the right gear or aspects. Raiment is also a huge requirement. The cons are you have to stand on top of everything to kill it, and it is very dependent on paragon board, but survivability similar to Arc lash
I can't believe people still have issues with this read your fucking skill tree you legit get mana from electro ball if you Stat your shit right or your just bad at lightning and shouldn't be playing it
How about looking at them smaller orbs that fall on the ground and pick them it gives you mana if you picked it on the talent tree people still don't do this shit really??? I neeeever run out of mana
I use meteor, I acknowledge it's weaker than ice shards and blizzard I personally very much enjoy it, and if geared appropriately is a lot of fun imo. It does feel very paragon and gear required but it's a lot of fun.
I'm running chain lightning with frost bolt/fire bolt passives. I don't know where I'm going to get stopped but it cleared a tier 50 at lvl 83. I'm still tuning it and deciding if the staff damage is worth more than the wand/source utility + attack speed. Very visually impressive to play and fun.
My favorite build is a build that I had heard no one talk about. It's effectively the blizzard ice shards hybrid except you substitute frozen orb for blizzard. It isn't really viable until you pick up the chill application nodes on the Paragon board and get frostburn because you want the frozen orb explosions to chill almost as quickly as blizzard to trigger your ice shards enchantments. But because it can apply vulnerability, you don't need to get the biting cold aspect and frozen orb applies burning damage if you're using the fire bolt enchantment unlike Blizzard. I also find that the explosion does more burst damage than Blizzard does which makes it more consistent for both clearing and for single target. The one downside is that you need a lot of ranks in frozen orb on your gear otherwise you don't do as much damage with the orb its self as you would with blizzard
@@eduardoscherer5660 well sorta. Orb is what I use primarily but shards is still good for single target. Plus you can scale both with core skill damage
I chose the sorcerer because I want to go FULL FROZEN FROST MAGE. It's cool to see the abilities I've been using from the start is pretty much S tier, haha! Now that I'm level 55 I need to start getting the right gear and aspects. Thanks for putting in the time to test all of this and for the video! 💗
I'm went sorcerer for the same reason, all ice baby. I don't use the burning enchantment either, I use the chill one. Am level 80 something and have come to realise that I don't do as much damage as other sorcerers my level, likely because they use the burning enchantment but I'm going to find a way to make all ice do just as much damage lol
Hell yeah and right when you get that build put together with the perfect set of gear and skills they'll NERF that shit into the dirt! 😂 But... Thus is the way of these types of games. If you wait around long enough they'll nerf everything so hard your build will be meta again.
Depends if you play single or with friends. As the builds really depend on that. Tried blizz shard hybrid in multiplayer and ny friends destory things before blizzard even ramps damage. So i focus on pure iceshard. This is at NM 70+
@@JennaH-l1j try running frost bolt enchantment with crowd control glyph it's +160% damage to cc enemy and frost bolt adds that chill straight away for the added damage
Supposedly there is a very strong ice shards variant you haven't tried it seems, the one that uses Frostburn, the aspect that proliferates CC effects, Iceheart Braise, Shatter, and the paragon legendary node that gives you a barrier for every frozen enemy that dies. Also aspect of control.
Nope, that build is not stronger. Just flashier. In fact the damage and defenses are much lower than what I've been playing. I tried something similar over a week, and it was a disappointment I went from NM70s to stuck in the 60s again due to random 1-shots / lack of damage.
that build is comfortable for low tier nm , but in higher tier , frost burn and Iceheart Braise dont do well interm of dmg and survibility , i mean higher tier like after 60
Arc lash with a raiment as well as the synergies for teleport enchant and the right evade boots brings it to S. Admittedly it’s taken me to 85+ to get just the right gear, but it’s faster than ice shard and still allows for no mana management rolls.
@Dream-yq2et Did T60-70s as 80 Arc Lash Sorc with Unstable Currents up at all times and Raiment 3s Stun. Sounds like you used a broken build or wrong gear. However resistances needs to be fixed soon. Range does not equal safety at all times. Arc lash is the most fun build for sure. Rated S tier by many in terms of FUNNESS for good reason. When you get UC to 40 sec CD and with proper build, you will be ULTING ALL THE TIME, with insane numbers on screen. Elites are melting with ease and they don't even come out of stun before they are dead + defensives pop off CD every second meaning you will be teleporting around the entire screen all the time (and stunning for seconds every time).
im using a firewall build but replaced inferno (I hate ultimate's), with arc lash....and use an increased attack speed aspect on the ammy so its doubled.. Drop your nova, then dump your mana on firewalls all over the ground, then switch to your arc lash. once your mana fills up drop more firewalls.. With the fast attack speed its a perfect build...Good AOE, good single target DPS, endless mana, good movement and tanky...The stun/immobilize with the devouring flames passives really give it alot of punch...Highly recommend.
Not sure if I agree with the comments regarding speed for blizzard only build. At least in mid tier NM dungeons (50-60) elite packs should be decimated within 2-3 seconds by pre-casting blizzard-> precast flame barrier -> teleport in and stun with raiment -> nova for freeze and vulnerable. This kills elite packs near instantly with Crits over 1.5million. You use teleport enchant instead of icebolt enchant, so you have 6 teleport charges which means you move really fast compared to using firebolt and ice shards. I didn't see you use this combo in the brief section of gameplay for blizzard. If you just walk around and cast blizzard around the room the damage will be low and mana issues will be huge. I usually play by teleporting from pack to pack after first casting blizzard on top of them. Trash mobs usually die quickly enough from just the stun and I will occasionally nova, saving flame barrier for an elite pack. There is very little down time or mana issues when played in this style (using prodigy aspect and static surge node w/ raiment stun). Only down side is the high CDR requirement, ideally 40+ and full + skills on nova and teleport. My current build has teleport on a 4.5 second cooldown (not counting the 5 evade teleport charges) and nova on a 12 second cooldown at 2 charges. I can see this slowing down as soon as you stop one shotting elite packs, but personally I think this is faster than ice shards since they spend more time walking assuming we one shot all elite packs we come across using either builds. In short I don't believe the hybrid version is always better as losing 5 teleport charges in my opinion doesn't make up for speed in most applications other than the overworld. In helltides and other overworld content I like the hybrid better since ice shards kill instantly without delay which makes collecting embers less annoying.
I think u'r on spot, played a few sorc build, I personally love the esthetic of Shock build althouggh I'm getting real tired of Arc so I went no mana build full defense with just shock generator skill (can't remember the name atm) and it works fine for me now at tier 3, I can deal with huge packs of mobs (kinda the nature of shock, you trigger mobs from screens away heh) and with the shock ultimate, just need to vfocus CD reduction a bit and a few 'easy' aspectand u'r good to go, at least for now, I certainly expect nightmare dungeon to put this build to the test but then I'll switch to a either full crit up time lightnin chain or full CDR shock ultimte or the S tier Ice Shard+Blizz. Good luck all !! And thanks for the tier list !
No mention of meteor? I'm running meteor and fireball build and run through nightmare dungeons np. My fireballs crit, anywhere between 100-200k dps. With the enchantment on both feels really good. No love for fire. With the staff of endless fury (mine is god tier rolls btw) every 3rd cast is basically triple damage.
I have to advocate for charged bolts. I use the arc lash and teleport enchant(enhanced by raiment of the infinite). Double up frost nova with the aspect. In total it amounts to a lot of crowd control, pulls, barriers and movement. Fill in all of the necessary aspects everywhere else, namely the aspect that extends the reach of charged bolts and makes them lock onto targets. I find it to be highly effective at clearing dungeons.
Great video! Thank you for not covering just the single top DPS build and considering leveling. I started the game last night with Sorcerer and there are so many skills I wasn't sure what to focus on. I kinda spread myself with lightning basic for AoE, Ice basic for elites/bosses and Frozen Orb because.... it's Frozen Orb!
Currently using a mix of arc lash/ball lightning and "infinite unstable currents" cool down build. While it's not optimal I find it fun and it's working so far at lvl 77 nightmare tier 20-30s I don't want to switch to just ice shards hopefully they buff lighting/fire and our defenses asap 😭 my issue with arc lash is basically being forced to play a melee mage. I wish chain lighting or sparks got buffed. Think I might try out blizzard build next!
Thanks for the content! I started as Sorc and naturally tried most of these. I landed on Blizz/Shards hybrid yesterday and also am loving the mix! Sometimes I just toss on Flameshield Enchantment while doing nightmare dungeons/helltide instead of shards and still works pretty well. I use the aspect that also causes ice spikes to chill and ice armor to leave ice spikes in ur wake! :D
Yessss, awesome - I am running blizzard and shards and was looking for someone else who was just so I knew I wasn't mad trying it, I even make use of DR when standing in blizzard which helped me get through the WT4 captsone 7 levels under (which I guess I need to take off at some point)... I'd say my only issue with the build is choosing which aspects to run on it, but at the same time, I guess that means you have flexibility for different types of gear for different content.
Strict fire build: Meteor, Hydra(x2), Frost Nova, Flame Shield, Inferno, Flaming arrow. Paragon trees Searing Heat and whichever one Burning is. Fire and Burn damage is crazy boosted. Build is solid used hydras to burn everything basically bottleneck and spam meteor after frost nova and it’s like a bomb.
I’ve noticed in this game, DoT damage isn’t as viable in other MMOs. I played WoW and ESO and both I played DoT builds and they were probably my strongest characters but my DoT rogue in Diablo is basically useless when I can just use twisting blades and kill everything around me in 1 or 2 uses.
i wish there was some more variation to sorceress - like frost not beeing the best in both control and damage... more inherit defensive capabilities and less focus on active defensive buttons to push. lets say a general scaling where in terms of damage: fire>lightning>frost and in terms of control: frost>lightning>fire. then some system where everyone would rather take teleport + 1 defensive skill in the defense branch and actually be rewarded to combine basic/core/mastery/ultimate abilites instead of rather going for just 1 or feel 2 at max
What’s the best build to use until I get the raiment? Disclaimer I have written this less than a minute into the video so you may answer it but I need to know 😂
I been running ice shard/meteor with immobilize, also pretty strong. i switch that build into an pure meteor build as well, also very strong, can crit up to 6-7 million with Raiman stunning and pulling stuff into the meteor.
I have been rocking a blizzard/shard hybrid since 60ish (94 now) and i love it. I came from flame wall which i loved until WT4, but the CC with blizzard just made life soooo much easier. Also, i dont even have iceshard on my bar, i just rely on everything freezing and they just autoshoot :).
That's interesting, I also have been playing ice shard / blizz for the last 20 levels (currently 95) but might have to play about with the idea of not having ice shards on hotbar just on enchantment slot, might get deepfreeze back, thanks for the idea, definitely food for thought.
I'm lvl 86 and running a full conjurer build with unstable currents and spark with frost nova and ice shards as enchantments, switching to ice blades for bosses. A lot of synergies through lightning spear stun, frost nova enchantment procs and ice blades giving vulnerable, hydra providing burn for devouring blaze, while getting some cd reduction through ice blades and crackling energy. Damage seems low compared to other builds, but its something different. Really hope they make conjurer stronger. Maybe a bigger bonus for utilizing all 3 elements and more damage for the # of active conjurations, cuz the current bonuses are pathetic.
Great video, very comprehensive and allows a non sorc (with some sorc knowledge) to gain better understands and clarity of the class. Tyvm for all the hard work.
Started playing my own "fire" build kinda randomly selecting fire skills from what sounded the best & ended up with a fireball & hydra build that atcually genuinely worked at first but after lvl 20 it just delt less & less damage. & so you had to kite longer & longer. I actually waited all the way untill lvl 40 ish, to switch to a Arc Lash build, partly as the Hydra is so good for killing bosses. Hydras was the way i managed to kill my first instannce of "the butcher" by simply running away & let the Hydra slowly kill it.That being said im so happy i swithced to Arc Lash & as i just managed to finish my first capstone dungeon with only 1 death at lvl 51 & only half my gear was lengendaries too. Good thing i still know how to kite, thou because Arc Lash isnt all powerfull on ita own. Probably going to keep Arc Lash for now as i play the game quite "casually" as i also play other games. I dont mind having a bit of a challenge as well.
I really wanted them to make a pure conjurer build a thing.... in the demo it sounded kind of nice and thought it would get a buff, but it still sucks. I really enjoyed the hydra builds in d2 and d3.
I tried a hydra fireball build for like 50 levels before I about quit the game. Then I found ice shards and stuck around. Still sucks fire blows in this game.
@@kuja5809 I feel like when 'sets' are introduced to d4, maybe it will be good again. who knows when that will be. Though the game is still very new, anything can be rebalanced to make the experience fresh.
I think a build the devs intended but hasnt been that popular (yet) is full on lightning spam, throwing out every lightning spell in the book many times per second and arc lashing 10x a sec. Stack attack speed, aspects crits w core give attack speed, unstable currents can throw another skill, while not on unstable shock skills have chance for more shock skills. Lightning spear will stun a lot, chain lightning will create crackling and proc more attack speed, charged bolts will give DR, ball lightning will spawn a lot, hit fast, and produce lucky hits often. All while arc lashing a lot to stun more combined with overflowing energy to reduce CDs
Chain Lightning has been my favorite stylistically and my build has gone all over the place. But It has really started falling off on damage so I have been playing other things. I hope to circle back around once I have some solid strategies for scaling the damage again.
Just changed my Blizzard build to a Bliizzard/Ice Shards build last night and I'm loving it a lot more than the straight Blizzard build. I'm glad to see others have gone this way.
Too me something that chills (like blizzard) is almost mandatory because of how much dmg to chilled you get from skills and the Icefall-board. Dmg mitigation too.
If you are going lightning build. Crackling is insane use both orbiting Ball lightning and chain lightning with crackling. Use spark and specialize for extra crackling. Ball lightning for other specialization or lightning spear. More crackling more passive damage more lightning spear is fully charged, cooldowns reduction is insane, can spam teleport every 2 seconds. Ultimate is up almost when it finishes. Raihment not necessary for crackling build. If you using lightning and raiment unique, go all out as a stun build. Spec all lightning from crackling to stun. Can't hit you if they are stunned all the time. And some very cool aspects that work on stunned. Vyr all the way for lightning stun build. I had to respec to crackling fron stun as I didn't have right gear, Rainments. If I get that I will go back to stun build. And best skill for a stun build is Charged Bolts. Stun a boss or Unique.Get real close and use. With a crit, a stun, CB will do up to 10 Sparks. One shot nearly all elites.
I'm a bit of a n00b, but I am digging the chain lighting. Using a couple lightning spear related enchantment or 2 really perks up the damage/stun rates.
I leveled from like 1-47 with lightning spear. It's good enough to beat the campaign. But I couldn't make it through the capstone dungeon with it. Had to switch to arc lash. To be fair I beat everything but the final boss with the lightning spear build. But the final boss was just a huge pain. Also after failing the boss 4 times and giving up I went and upped my renown to get more potions and got elixirs to make the fight easier. He was pretty easy after I prepared a bit more (including changing to the arc lash build). I also grabbed some more defensive aspects.
I just hope all of this changes the 18th. All we have are defensive spells to play with. It's ridiculous. Obviously cause of bugged resistances. But still.. And we need to equalize the other spells more. And compared with other classes one-shotting world bosses, I think we all require some balancing.
I swapped from arc lash to ice shards recently and just yesterday moved that to an ice shards blizzard hybrid like you mentioned. It's the smoothest in farming outside of arc lash and I really like it as a base build because I only need to change a couple pieces and 3 ability points to swap to straight blizzard or ice shards if I need them. Without loudouts, it's the best versatility you can get on a single sorc character.
Also, what do you think about penitent grieves in that build? I just tried them on and they feel really good to me. I don't really need the extra frost Nova ranks and there's no exceptional aspects on boots for the hybrid, so I like it a lot.
The ranks in Teleport/Frost Nova are way too strong to drop for Penitent Greaves. Binding Embers is important to proc Immobilize for 150% more critical strike damage. Plus, if you're running the Teleport enchantment you need boots with +Evade Charges.
@@Tenkiei I put those points into ice shards and use ice shards with fire bolt as the enchantments. In other words, I'm running ice shards as the basis with blizzard fit in rather than the other way around. I do agree binding embers is very useful, but the greaves allow for much faster freezing and is a very solid damage buff. Another caveat, I don't have raiment, which would make the teleport much stronger, and probably swing things in favor of +evade boots.
Frozen orb not listed is probably a mistake with the recent buff. Also, I have a lvl 100 Chain lightning build that that I'd love to show off but I'm not really motivated to record anything. Its exceptionally tanky and still crits in the range of 600k-900k CL with near 100% uptime on unstable currents. Tankiness wise I can handle most hits in 70s which says something considering where the class is.
@healthymindhappierlife5089 I'd love to take a peek at that build. I am playing a CL sorc aswell and sometimes struggle in NMs. Could you post a D4planner link or something similar so I can check where to improve?
Frozen orb underrated af, i can consistently crit for 300k+ on the explosions and 250k+ on the frozen orb projectile itself. I would really recommend to try it’s so fun! Keep in mind the orb explodes i think 2 or 3 times as well, i have to check again but yeah i highly recommend even though it’s kind of challenging cause your positioning really matters
basicly take the hybrid blizzard/shards and make it frostbolt/shards. they both get a lot of free casts and i found it pretty consistent. I cleared lvl 72 enemy's pretty fast when going in a way to high nightmare with a friend while being lvl 59. Good gear helps tho. You need the frozen orb to stay after impact. And i the shard splitting. the rest is mostly adding aspect for frostnova or core skill buffs. Bosses get boring tho. you only spam shard/base skill i did go with only frost shield. Need to test with adding fireshield or teleport also because i never cast bolt the ult is ICE (in case of emergency 🙂). It helps dodge a lot of the stronger things thrown at you Never tested pvp or tier 4 yet sadly enough
I didn't make a full Ball Lightning video, and I'll be honest I don't remember exactly what I did because I just copied Northwar's setup when I was trying it.
I’m just an ice shard guy. Tried lots of other stuff, but in the end I just love me my ice shards. Once the mana issue is solved it’s just so much fun. I just keep getting all these unique fire gear but nothing for ice. Game hates me. For instance I am now level 88 and have still not come across one single ice heart brais. But I now have like 5 or 6 of those meteor staffs. Like what more do I need to do to get a drop?
Chain lightning + Fire Shield FTW! I use lightning spear and a number of aspects that spawn extra spears and cause spears to stun…stuff like that. It works good!
I'm curious why Shatter didn't make the list? I've been playing it from 50-100 and I'm clearly 55+ NM easily. I carry 2-3 people on the regular. It's super fun and the burst is insane. Half the time I just stand at the end of a hallway and everything dies before it gets to me.
i tried making a build around lightning spear enchantment going from chain lightning to ball lightning then as conjuration master before i ultimately had to drop it since it was too poor summon rate.. and surprisingly frequently 12% is simply too little to summon even a single spear during a fight with a pack of mobs. other times it might come only for the last few seconds of the fight
@@dinoskatsougiannis2995 i ultimately dropped the entire concept around lvl 75-80 going for a meteor and static ball lightning combination instead and i never looked back. got raiment drop at lvl 85 and everything just came together perfectly as as when you pull a group you actually get the enchantment proc which turns out to be typically 2-5 static ball lightning and since raiment group them together they hit everything. i use chain lightning for cleaning out the remaining
There is many working builds on sorc. But for a all around build that is ssss+ tier, nothing so far I have tried gets close to northwars "speed farming" blizzard build, a blizzard/iceshard build, were you dont even have to click ice shard. You dont put it on your bars, you just max ice shards out and pick enhanced iceshards, so it always attack frozen. Then put it in enchantment with teleport. I can blink nova blink nova non stop through even tier60+ and then you have the blizzard as backup/vs boss. Its so dammm good. And feels so good to play, I doubt anything can follow the speed of that. It is really brokenly good. Its sad to not see a hydra Burn(DoT) build, it works crazy well also. I have taken the korean guys build, which clears tier100 and reworked it a bit. Just running around dropping down hydra and see them proc frostnova/immobilize on hits and everything just melts to 1mill+ burn ticks feels really good.
I love playing ice shards, but might look into iceshard blizzard hybrid. I'm level 51 and cleaning up some renown before heading to tier 3 world. I've been using ice shards with fire bolt enhancement.
I am in the late 60ties... so I am not the best to give advice... my build is Arc lash+Chain lightning-Frost nova build..... and I then have double frost nova(not maxed) and ball lightning circling around me when I want max damage(not maxed). It needs the aspects ... but after it is kind of fun....and I have fire damage too.. to regain health, buffs etc.
I've played arc lash, ice shards, blizzard and ball lightning. Ball lightning is my obvious choice as the playstyle is just so much more enjoyable. A bit lacking on single targets, but it's good enough even for Butcher in high level NM dungeons.
I wanted to focus on primarily lightning for my build so I checked out all the different lightning builds and worked out a combo mainly of arc lash and chain lightning builds. Been getting some good gear drops focusing mainly on high crit and vulnerability damage, reduced cooldowns, and increased cc duration that are pulling my build together and it feels pretty dam good. I love teleporting into the middle of a mob and popping that vulnerable/ freeze then hitting my ultimate. Still waiting on a raiment of the infinite to drop to really make the most of this build though. I only wish I could clear a dungeon as fast as those ice builds.
Yeah. On the other hand ice builds can't facetank a lvl110 Butcher. If lightning had better damage reduction scaling - it would've been decent for pushing too I think, but between heavily relying on crowd control, low burst damage, with broken resistances and very painful damage from mobs beyond T60 it's usability is limited... I mean, switching to roughly slapped together Ice Shards build I've immediately cleared T69 ("nice") with relative ease... Such a slap in the face to all the effort I've put into Arc Lash build...
@@pillagiuslightning has good dmg reduction, ppl just avoid it. The key passive has some decent reduction, then you have other minor traits that give dmg reduction on crits , you also have the lightning dmg reduction and on top you have the aspects, plus, in my experience, id you drop arclash for the lightning basic that generates crackling energy, you can also go really tanky on armor... But generally ppl juat focus on dps, being squishy and glass cannon while lightning offers alot to being tanky.
@@voidspirit111 true but even all the defensive skills, aspects, etc. are not really enough to make up for the incredibly squishy base and going too deep into defense hurts your already severely gimped damage. Guy sums up frustrations with Sorc pretty well: ruclips.net/video/vN-0AWKmszQ/видео.html
@@pillagius not saying it should be better just that it would make a better case if it showed a defensive build having a hard time surviving rather than a galss cannon. Also, my frustration with the game, is the missleading tooltips. For example, for the glass cannon trait, it feels like the 9% extra dmg recieved is calculated similar to how vuln is, thus making it hurt more than ppl would expect. Or how the lucky hit trair says it gives additive bonus but in reality is multiplicative and so on.. i would not be surprised to have some other things not work as the tooltip mentions thus making the sorc more squishy. In any case, it should be fixed, that is true.
@@voidspirit111 It would show the tank/sorc surviving plenty fine but slowly, slowly, boringly taking down 1 enemy at a time over several minutes. It would not make a good video for the YT algorithm so no one will do it.
the link for ice shards and blizzards have ice blades not shards. ? I had been thinking of going that route...wonder if the vid is correct or the document. Thanks...nice vids.
Most of the builds in B tier can solo NM dungeons (CL struggles a bit but post crackling buff does OK), originally I was gonna rank it was A-S can do 80+, B can do 70+, C-D can do 60+ and F fails at 50, but I didn't want to rate build performance solely based on NM dungeons, just like how I didn't want to rate it solely on U Lillith or speed farming.
I play blizzard/hydra, ice swords, frost nova (enchant), ice shards enchant effect only, not on hotbar. Ice armour/deep freeze. Feels decent. Freeze and watch ice shards/spikes shatter everything.
I'm doing really good stacking lucky hit, cd reduction, crackling energy, and keep ball lightning off my hotbar and on enchantment slot. Almost at full unstable currents up time
Does the incinerate beam do hits per seconds? And does it proc enchantments? They should make an aspect where you can still move but you’re slower while channeling..
Firewall Sorc here. Contrary to the burning DoT that it provides, you don’t need Inferno… you need Hyrdas. Burn em all before they even get to you. This build is also exceptional for bosses, and negates lots of cons that were mentioned overall Also much easier to play on PC where you can easily direct your firewalls. That said, I’m primarily on console and it’s just as fine to play
To simplify, just play arc lash until you begin pushing nightmare dungeons and collect gear for the blizzard/ice shards build. This is the easiest progression.
Exactly what I did without doing much build research at all
But arc lash is so much more fun than the ice shards build 🥴
They need to add a second bar of skills I can add to like d2r, the defense skills take up the majority of the slots
Are nightmare dungeons in wt3?

Where as I don't melt mobs like some ice builds I still do good damage and haven't had issues with Helltide and Soloing the bosses in it.

I'm playing almost the exact same thing lol. I thought I was the only one
similar boat; the recent patch really pushed things to have barely any CD on unstable: my current weapons rolled with some sweet sweet basic attack damage: slot topaz on top and that arc lash starts to really pack a punch. add iceheart and pick the right boards; all of a sudden you just shatterwhip room after room after room.
This sounds amazing! Can this work without raiment?
Plus other perks like massive stagger and stuff
edit: also, man I tried so hard to fall in love with firewall because ignite is a cool mechanic..but I just couldn't get to a point enjoying it
I watched a few sorcerer guides prior but this video stood out and I really liked all the hard work put into theory testing. Excellent video!
I love the chain lighting with arc lash, frost nova, and flame shield! It's a "tweener" but it is fun to play!
Ice shard/ nova/ meteor is amazing. Averaging 500k-700k crits consistently. when the star's align, that boosts to 1.5m-2m crits
You got a build for that? Sounds fun!
Need to see that build bro👍
I would like to see that build also please.
Trying to optimize for more dps though.
exactly what im playing atm! its the most fun ive had so far
Circle Ball Lightning is absolutely the way to go if you're casting it.
if you can get your unstable currents up 90% of the time, you can get rid of casting BL and all the mana stats, just go for straight damage and attack speed and still use the ball lightning circling. if you cant reach the 45+% CDR try the recently buffed crackling energy aspect!
@@ClawsOfLyco how do you get that? I cannot figure out how to get my firewall to proc meteor.

Bro , I think you missed the point of the video

Do note that as you reach endgame, you won't get away with not taking the teleport damage reduction
@@brettbayman6650damn I must have over looked that talent but there is a lot of nodes on the paragon boards for increases as well

Wand/Focus is a lot better.
The inherent buffs are 15% lucky hit on wand and a bunch of CDR on Focus. It’s best by a land slide
id put chain lightning in at least A-tier.
chain lightning + lightning spear is sick. T50-T60 still doing good
My favorite build is a build that I had heard no one talk about.
Wait, so you use 2 core skills (shards and frozen orb)?
@@eduardoscherer5660 well sorta. Orb is what I use primarily but shards is still good for single target. Plus you can scale both with core skill damage
I chose the sorcerer because I want to go FULL FROZEN FROST MAGE. It's cool to see the abilities I've been using from the start is pretty much S tier, haha! Now that I'm level 55 I need to start getting the right gear and aspects. Thanks for putting in the time to test all of this and for the video! 💗
+ glyphs. Gamechanger no joke
But...
This, completely dropped blizzard and now run ice shard shatter. Now I kill everything before anyone gets to it, lol.

I’ve been running a fireball/meteor wizard and it feels fun with the staff of endless rage but ice shards felt really good lol
Elites are melting with ease and they don't even come out of stun before they are dead + defensives pop off CD every second meaning you will be teleporting around the entire screen all the time (and stunning for seconds every time).
what about a meteor build?
Nope, the delay on meteor makes it unplayable for me so I have no plans to play it anytime soon.
im using a firewall build but replaced inferno (I hate ultimate's), with arc lash....and use an increased attack speed aspect on the ammy so its doubled..
The video I've been looking for, thanks for the guide bro!
I use this build. It’s my favourite and so much fun. I’ve tried ice shard and blizzard builds. But it’s just Boring tbh.
Chain lightning, lightning spear, teleport, Unstable currents, ice blades, frost nova. Enchant ice blades and frost nova for consistent vulnerable procs.
I'm running a Blizzard + Conjuration hybrid build which I love playing:
{Left_Click}: Lightning Spear
{Right_Click}: Ice Blades
{1}: Blizzard
{2}: Frost Nova
{3}: Flame Shield
{4}: Hydra
Thanks for the content! I started as Sorc and naturally tried most of these. I landed on Blizz/Shards hybrid yesterday and also am loving the mix! Sometimes I just toss on Flameshield Enchantment while doing nightmare dungeons/helltide instead of shards and still works pretty well. I use the aspect that also causes ice spikes to chill and ice armor to leave ice spikes in ur wake! :D
From your screen, it appears you remapped the many of the keys to the numpad. Do you have a video showing how you play with that setup?
I’m level 45 sourcerer and picked everything for ARC LASH but my build isn’t at all the same as what you see here. What did I wrong?
It's interesting to see that you got all Ice builds in S/A, all Lightning builds in middle B/C and all Fire in D/F!
Meteor would be in B is he hadn't ignored it
because it never used to be sliced, breadknives werent a thing and you had to basically squash your bread to slice it.
Disclaimer I have written this less than a minute into the video so you may answer it but I need to know 😂
Man, I managed to create the Ice Shards build from your last video. What a great build. Lots of fun with the ice explosions.
I been running ice shard/meteor with immobilize, also pretty strong. i switch that build into an pure meteor build as well, also very strong, can crit up to 6-7 million with Raiman stunning and pulling stuff into the meteor.
But bosses and single target is no good for meteor
Sliced bread is always fresh if kept in your freezer and you pull out what slices you need!! Nice vid!
Great video, thank you for this!
You're welcome!
Great quality video very informative! Thank you keep it rolling!
thank you, this is the video I really need. I’m struggling leveling up my Sor.
Oof I went the other way. More investment into ice shard. I only get 1 frost nova but I do triple the DMG of the one displayed here.
Hydras got a severe nerf it's trash not enough damage to focus build around it
@@kuja5809 I feel like when 'sets' are introduced to d4, maybe it will be good again. who knows when that will be. Though the game is still very new, anything can be rebalanced to make the experience fresh.
@@squeegie they might add sets during seasons
What about the palpatine unlimited power build. You can just keep spamming
@@Th3EPICm0nk3y😂
Loving my ball lightning-arc lash variant, very fun
You didn't try the new meteor build.
Do you have a link to the FO build you have?? I’ve been trying to find one I like.
@@AnalyseHolzman i can try to make one to link
Id love to see a build from you too. I have a few pieces that might work well with one, but I'm a guy who keeps a build to start off
basicly take the hybrid blizzard/shards and make it frostbolt/shards. they both get a lot of free casts and i found it pretty consistent.
Bosses get boring tho. you only spam shard/base skill
i did go with only frost shield. Need to test with adding fireshield or teleport also because i never cast bolt
the ult is ICE (in case of emergency 🙂). It helps dodge a lot of the stronger things thrown at you
Never tested pvp or tier 4 yet sadly enough
@@AlexZeroD the icy veins build is good, I had to replace deep freeze with Pyro ult tho, font have rainment yet
is there a video to your balllightning build? wondering if you are doing a arclash/balllightning build or if it includes the chainlightning enchacht
Thx for the vid, will definitely try ice shard, blizzard build❤
Loved this. I actually stumbled on Shard/Blizz Hybrid because of my gear drops :). Love it
i tried making a build around lightning spear enchantment going from chain lightning to ball lightning then as conjuration master before i ultimately had to drop it since it was too poor summon rate.. and surprisingly frequently 12% is simply too little to summon even a single spear during a fight with a pack of mobs. other times it might come only for the last few seconds of the fight
What level are you. I have a spear build at 88 lvl and spears are flying around the screen like crazy
I am rocking a Nuke Meteorite Build, haven't heard you mention it, but if you're curious I have a couple runs up (at LVL 83 atm)
The problem with sorc is that the entire class is dependent on frost nova. At high level, sorc is almost unplayable when nova is on cooldown.
There's an aspect for that, gives you 2 charges 😊
@@scifi_shop And the 2 charges also buffs the enhanced frost nova CD reduction from 1sec to 2sec per mob. Basicly nova will be perma ready.
I love playing ice shards, but might look into iceshard blizzard hybrid. I'm level 51 and cleaning up some renown before heading to tier 3 world. I've been using ice shards with fire bolt enhancement.
I saw a guy on RUclips with a version of chain lightning using frozen orb enchantment for constantly applying vuln. Looked pretty solid for mid tiers
Ball lightning build is insane for pvp
It's definitely a solid all-round build.
I think that this is best channel for Sorc in D4. Most of others cover one build and some modifications of same.
Im putting this video in my D4 playlist, great, honest and helpful.
I feel like you severely undervalued arc lash. My build can solo tier 70 nightmare dungeons. But yes melee range is an issue
This build is also exceptional for bosses, and negates lots of cons that were mentioned overall
Also much easier to play on PC where you can easily direct your firewalls. That said, I’m primarily on console and it’s just as fine to play
