Personally I enjoyed the movie, king of the monsters was actually the movie that made me a Godzilla fan and I've loved all the monsterverse films since, haven't seen all of the toho films except for the original Godzilla, final wars, and minus one while were awesome. I think that all of the fight scenes were spot on. I don't really focus on plot, just the characters and the fights, which make movies much better for me. But that's just my opinion and I'm getting ready for the next monsterverse film

My favourite parts were with Godzilla
I feel like Adam Wingard doesn’t know how to handle Godzilla as a character.
In GvK and GxK, Godzilla is just angry and runs around destroying stuff until the plot needs him. There isn’t much to him aside from “big angry lizard that vaporizes any remotely strong monster that doesn’t kneel.”
Despite giving Godzilla limited screen time, 2014 gave him the most character.
In 2014, Godzilla is portrayed as this benevolent force of nature that only appears when absolutely needed. When he does appear, he avoids battleships instead of destroying them, and only kills civilians when they can’t get out of his way. Godzilla seemed completely oblivious to humanity as he stomps along.
But my favorite part of his characterization in 2014 is the “retired fighter” element. Godzilla felt OLD in the best way possible; slow but strong, covered in scars and showing body language that says “I’m getting too old for this sh*t.”
Now MV Godzilla is just an angry, overpowered jerk that kills everything that moves.
Even King of the Monsters continues what 2014 was doing to a lesser degree. It's really strange how Wingard has treated the character, GVK has an actual explanation that was cut from the film, which is its own issue, but GXK has no excuse
The comunity is to blame for it, i used to see all these people saying "Oh, LeGenDaRy GoDzIlLa Is SuCh A siSsY, hE iSn'T aS aGrEsSiVe as FiNaL wArS GoDzILla" and now he is due to their demand

Godzilla x kong feels like two movies in one.
There's nothing at this point we can do to stop Wingard from making another movie in this universe to finish his trilogy. I just hope that after that movie, he finally leaves the MonsterVerse alone and gives it to someone else.
I just hope whoever the next person is can give more respect to these characters, and this world and bring a better quality of storytelling. Especially giving Godzilla more characterisation and bringing more stakes to his fights. I love seeing Godzilla beat the shit out of other Titans without breaking a sweat but it's also kinda boring, I want to see him struggle the way he did against Ghidorah again.

Personally I didn't find it very fun, and that's from someone who adores GVK, I love everything with Kong, but Godzilla, Skar King, and the fights just left me Underwhelmed
When I walked out of the theater for this film, I knew there was something wrong. I liked it overall, but I still didn’t feel satisfied with it. I think your video finally helped me understand my overall problem with this movie.
It feels cheap.
Most lf the Kaiju who make appearances (Mothra and Godzilla, for example) have absolutely no reason to be in this movie. Too many things go unexplained, and probably never will be explained. It was fun, but could have been better.
I watched it a second time last night in preparation for another video, it having the lowest budget of the MV definitely had an effect, it chose quantity over quality, if it's fights were anywhere near as good as GVKs, itd be much better
@@establishingthrills i enjoyed the fights, but it was other things that grabbed my attention the whole time. The soundtrack in the movie itself sounded horrible during my first watch. When you listen to it alone, it sounds ok though.
Absolutely no explanation for how that crystal causes Shimo pain or where it came from (or how Skar got it)
Mothra only existed for fan service and basically did fuck all.
Godzilla, like you already made clear, was also only in this film for marketing and toy sales
Why is the Hollow Earth so bright? Apparently the crystals are a light source? But that’s obviously just an excuse. They just rendered a sun into all these shots and forgot it wasn’t on the surface, so they had to make up some weird excuse for why it looked like that.
It’s the kind of stuff where the more you think about it, the less it makes sense.

I honestly prefered that monsterverse had only godzilla as protagonist. just alter some things here and there for the story to make sense without kong, and the rest can just go normal. i think kong gets on godzilla's way, which is why he hardly gets a more complex personality besides being a giant angry lizard
Soundtrack's not forgettable, it's remember. It's Godzilla & Kong not Kong and Godzilla. Okay. Just because you don't understand the showa Era doesn't mean anybody else. Doesn't I understand the shower era? Cause I own them and from my opinion when I see this movie. Then I'll judge and tell them. This is the movie of the year where the people like it or not. Period

Kong is the center of the story, Skar King has enslaved his kind, not Godzillas, whether Godzilla trapped them or not is irrelevant, because Kong is the only one with emotional stakes in the matter, Kong getting the kill is 100% deserved

@@establishingthrills true didnt think about it that way but, I will say that godzilla lacked in the movie. Especially in fights but when he was it was cool and all. I really would want another centered godzilla movie with/without kong because kong has had his time.
