- The PSA SABRE DAGGER STOLE the show at SHOT Show 2024, but did it steal my heart? It may just be worth watching this PSA Sabre Dagger review, as THIS is how it went for us!

We've reviewed quite a few Palmetto State Armory products over the years, and honestly we haven't had any quality issues with any of their products until this one. Is the blacked out front sight a quality issue? No, thats a personal preference but I think that they could've been better. Our biggest is besides the numerous malfunctions was the optics mounting... wrong screws, wrong wrench, none of the holosun or trijicon screws work either.... Something went wrong somewhere...
We paid for this PSA Dagger Sabre with our own money, so it's more than fair to bring issues to light. Here at Hunt Fish Shoot you'll always get the honest truth. ALWAYS! Hope you enjoy the video and our content.

I've never been more relieved to miss out on a new product drop than I was with this first run of Sabre Daggers. Haven't seen a review yet where anyone thought it was worth the money.
I love PSA and what they do, but part of me wonders if they're taking on too many new projects and their QC department and production staff are just simply stretched too thin.
I love the desire to innovate but not at the expense of quality.
We love PSA as well and have a lot of great videos on their stuff but this one was tough
@@HuntFishShootChannel Growing pains. There are way worse offenders in the “industry.”
Sure, but without growing pains this pistol doesn’t feel worth the price tag.
I was thinking the same thing. I would have bought one if the total didn’t come out to $666. That was good looking out Jesus lol.
For that price, I'd either go with the Echelon or a PDP
Our thoughts
Definitely. It's way overpriced.
Unless you got both those already then grab the PSA 😂 👍🏼🇺🇸💥
The Echelon is legit. I love mine!
A shadow systems foundation model plus a reliable budget dot can be had for the same price as well. I absolutely love PSA and everything they stand for, but they seem to be getting spread too thin recently.
Just recently found this channel and gotta say, I’m impressed with the quality of the content. Really appreciate your efforts.
My dagger shot exactly like this when i got it. Very very annoying but it has since broken in and runs like a dream
That’s good! Happy to hear the kinks worked out
At this price and with the issues I've seen in multiple videos besides yours, I have to agree with you. I'd go with the new 19x mos, pdp, or echelon all day long. Great video man 🤙🏽
Thank you! Tons of great proven options that do it better at the same price even without issues
Thank you for your honesty
All the time !
I think I would get a canik over this.
I've been buying stuff from PSA for years. One thing I realize is that new releases are rushed and always have issues. If a new gun comes out, wait 6 months to a year. Price will drop, and they will iron out all the issues.
That's why I say too.
Thread pitch for the optic screws is 4-40.
It may be but the screws supplied do not fit the screw holes on the pistol and the ones for the optic do not fit either. Thank you for the information!
@@HuntFishShootChannel production included the incorrect screws with the first batch Sabre Daggers. Those were the ones for the standard Dagger's. We can provide the correct screws to anyone that purchased the Sabre and needs them. Please submit a warranty claim on the website, under the contact us section.
@@mattpsa I've got some of your AR lowers and have almost no gripes... I've only had 1 issue with the threading for an aftermarket pistol grip. Otherwise I've been happy with the quality and matchup with uppers. I've also purchased 2 bcg's (nickel boron) that have run flawlessly. It is comforting to know you're watching reviews to fix and/or modify the pistol. I love the innovation and effort, but still on the fence with this one.
Yall really need to get your QC up to par before coming out with anything else.
@mattpsa the pistol was submitted for warranty the day after release of this video and sent in within that week, we still do not have our gun back.
Great review. As others have commented I think stepping to a shadow systems may be a better option . Would like to see it against the ss foundation series.
That video is a possibility but it’s going to upset a lot of people who are big fans of PSA stuff. The two pistols cost the same and the shadow systems foundation series is much nicer
Had watched a couple other reviews of the Sabre, and yours surprisingly seems to be running the best out of the ones I’ve seen.
PSA had a third party make the slides and barrels for the Sabre’s and the “uppers” were so screwed up, they basically turned into a single shot pistol
This was one of the best running? That’s wild. This review and how the pistol performed was and is one the worst performances from a gun in quite some time. Out of 200 pistols we have review, this was one of the worst performers
@@HuntFishShootChannel what the other reviewers did was take a normal dagger’s slide assembly and put it on the Sabre lower, and those Frankenstein daggers ran well. May be worth doing if you have a regular dagger lying around 🤷♂️
@injuredoutdoorsman9011 we do but I don’t know I feel like wasting the ammo to try 😂
@@HuntFishShootChannel hahahaha fair enough
I just got a base model Bul Armory Axe Clever C. Love the beaver tail. I tried talking to them and customer service seems sketch, but it's a nice glock without a red dot. Pisses me companies aren't making beaver tail standard.
Glock?
In my experience, all night sights turn to regular sights with the flashlight on. I stopped upgrading to night sights if I intend to mount a flashlight. Yes, once the flashlight dies, Im scrwed. Also, extremely upsetting to deal with the wrong screws to mount a red dot. At 700, there are plenty of options that will be ready to go out the box.
Exactly! I recommend blacked out rear and some form of front sight. Really a fan of shadow systems sights.
@@HuntFishShootChannel arent the Shadow System's Ameriglo sights? I like them as well and wanted to get some for the PDP Pro since it comes with crap sights.
@WREKLOC y they used to be! Now they use night fision which are about the same!
Dumbest statement on the internet
I keep a headlamp with my home defense pistol by my bed. It illuminates the sights and target eliminating the need for night sights. Also when the gun comes up or down to reload your light stays on the target. Frees up both hands and you can switch it on and off super easy just like a weapon mounted light.
I will say that at that price you can probably grab the Tisas double stack 1911 which gets you a solid entry level ds 1911
Yes you can!
I was thinking of getting a PSA dagger or a Taurus Gx4 carry T.O.R.O. what do you think would be the better choice?
Neither, Get a Walther PDP, Springfield Echelon or Shadow Systems Foundation Series pistol
Absolutely beautiful grip. Other than that this experience screams “Stay away!!!”. I have three regular Daggers that all work well so it’s a shame they didn’t work the kinks out of this product to at least match the current performance of the base product.
I got the all black. Ran flawlessly through over 300 rounds!
Awesome!
That thing will keep you trained up on your malfunction drills 😄
That’s a good point!
Is PSA going to sell the extended mags? and if so how well do they work with SS pistols?
Yes they do sell them and we will have try them
I love that PSA is trying to get as many guns into the hands of as many Americans as possible. With that comes the low prices. My experience is they provide a great value for anything they’ve been producing for quite some time, but they do put things out into the market before they’re ready, somewhat regularly. I have quite a few PSA products and they’re one of my favorite companies. But, admittedly, any of the firearms I truly rely on are not PSA. I’m not saying you can’t rely on them. I just invested heavily in a number of platforms before I ever purchased anything PSA. And my other brands cost more, so it makes me feel like they’re better quality, probably erroneously 😂
Thanks for sharing!
You should do a review against the beretta Apx a1 which come in at a lower price point.
Thanks for the input!
Walther PDP, or save a little and get the Shadow Systems MR920 Combat. Both are amazing
Roger that! Couldn’t agree more
Hmm. 2 minutes in and I’m seeing the older PSA QC issues popping up anew. Regardless, I paid $800 for an FN 509T with 5 mags, an LAPD trigger, awesome tritium suppressor height sights, an optic cut that is arguably among, if not THE, best in the game, a CHF barrel, and a proven system from a company that has excellent customer service. I did get a decent case but it isn’t “stellar”, and is hecho in la chine. Thanks for doing the deal with it though.
That’s a great or better option no doubt. The case for me isn’t a deal maker, I never use pistol cases because I’m usually at the range with multiple guns and I’m not carrying all of them in the supplied case regardless of how nice it is. So even the nicest cases go in a deep dark hole of my basement.
We need to re review the 509, it was the first gun video we ever made
@@HuntFishShootChannel I load stuff in and out of my Eberlestock Hercules 2 (highly recommend), and I have dozens of mags in it for stuff so keeping my non-edc pistols in their bags/cases is easy. FNX-45T case is awesome even though it’s a soft case. My 509 gets better every range session, or maybe I’m actually improving with the gun, lol. The trigger went from slightly gritty to smooth, crisp, repeatable and defined after around 500 rounds.
@Watchdog_UFOtestpilot within a month or two, I’ll have that bag. The days we film it’s stupid how much gun stuff I have to bring 😂
@@HuntFishShootChannel Eberlestock and Vertx are the two companies that make bags I swear by, other than some contract gear that’s pretty slick. Only thing I’m not crazy about with the Hercules 2 is the foam insert. It’s held up to a rifle cutout but it’s not the best foam for the job IMO.
@Watchdog_UFOtestpilot good to know! I’ll let you know my thoughts when I get one!
Let’s go 3 dot for the win!!!! 3 dot night is the number one choice of professionals. Welcome home brother.
I was so hoping it was as good as the original. My original has had and still hasn't had any malfunctions. Not one. Looks like I'm waiting for them to work out the kinks. Then I'll get one. I have a radian afterburner waiting for the sabre. Thanks for the content. Stay safe and God Bless.
Thank you! That’s probably a good idea!
It looks very nice but for the $ I’ll keep my Shadow Systems foundation and Walther PDP Pro over this.
Our thoughts exactly!
I was a huge Walther PDP fan, I own 5 of them. I got the echelon, and while the trigger on the PRO feels like a better trigger, I can shoot half dollar size groups with the echelon. The echelon is almost the same foot print as a G17, it also fits my Dara duty holster that I used for my PDPs.
@SecondClassCitizen I fucking LOVE my echelon. Got this sabre dagger as well... so far I can't hit the broadside of a barn with it
@@aarongerdts216 I used to suck shooting glock style triggers. I got the mantis X in the dryfire mag and did like 8k rounds of dry fire. The mantis X has games/drills you can do. Sadly the dry fire mag broke and they don't make it with the mantis X anymore. It improved my shooting 1000%.
I see no issue with blacked out sights even when not using a red dot. I prefer them as they are less distracting when shooting
Great!
I'm surprised how positive that review was considering what I saw. Look at PSA's indeed page and you'll see a theme of poor training, high turnover, and poor management so that will explain a lot of the qc issues you're referring to.
It didn’t feel positive, but I try to remain objective about things so that’s likely why!
Thanks for watching!
This is why i wait, theres always going to be problems with the first release
Whats the fix for the red dot mounting issue?
Couldn’t tell you. This pistol has been at PSA for well over a month now
I just made a video on the Live Free Armory 9XC I paid 460 for, and it seems more premium than this by far.
Having felt that at shot, I would agree!
I’ve watched a lot of Sabre dagger reviews and seems every one has the same issues with wild extraction and ejection
I’ve noticed the same!
Go Cz p10 or Berreta apx both can had for under 400 dollars as of now
Looks like I'll be getting an SCT frame and avoiding the Dagger
Slide bite still a thing. Find out if a beaver tail add on works. Also check out the Bul Armory clones, but talk to their customer service before ordering.
@@chrissinclair4442 I've been looking at the Axe series... Seen some reviews that make me question the quality. Recently read a comment that the frame cracked on someone between 5k and 6k rounds
@@oddballgunman5288 all polymer frame guns are going to have samples that Crack at some point, but I don't know how bad any one company is. I've tried calling and they are both hard to get ahold of and seem to want to claim communication issues. I didn't mind that they are Isreali, but I am starting to wonder if they are the hard R type, you know like settlers that go into Gaza and do what they want while being protected by the IDF?
Seems like your problem with the FTE would probably be lousy brass in the ammo you're using. It could be a rough chamber causing binding, which would be an easy fix.
I can't see anything besides the stipple job that should add cost to that pistol. I have 2 daggers that have all those features minus the stippling. I can do that myself. $20 will get you a polymer mag well. I just don't see the cost there.
It has zero to do with the ammo being used as we used federal, Speer and even some Winchester Ranger. All experienced failure to eject issues.
With all that being said I agree with you, the extra cost isn’t justified.
Definitely a comparison video with Shadow Systems
I don’t feel like hurting feelings. 😂
Considering Shadow Systems will replace your weapon if it's used in self defense and a superior design, it kinda seems unmatched
@oddballgunman5288 between that and the fit and finish on the SS is better. This feels like a cheap pistol.
Takes 4-40x1/4 or 4-40x 3/8 screws depending on the optic.
So let me get this straight the supplied RMR screws for the Sabre dagger don’t fit, then the rmr screws don’t fit and I’m supposed to go out and find some that fit appropriately?
@@HuntFishShootChannel Unfortunately yes. It took me a couple days of being pissed off and disappointed to find the correct screws and it's definitely something that PSA needs to address.
I think blacked out sights are mostly used in bullseye competition.
They could be
Tortillachip changed his mind about sights
No way for that price. Plus I never want to be the Beta tester on a new release.
You can get a CZ p10c with a Holosun SCS green dot combo for under $600 right now. That blows this Dagger away in terms of value
It most definitely does! The P10C is like a hidden gem and maybe the best gun for the money. Most the time you can get one for 400 or less!
Comparably speaking Shadow for 150-200 more is probably where you should go.
You can scoop up a foundation series for 600 and it’s a much better buy!
That sounds like a broken Birthday present right out of the box
That’s how it felt
What are I-Run sights???
You and my wife should be friends. You sound like her
I knew how this was going to go 45 sec in.
Moral of the story, use the mags that it comes with. Not the 30 different ones used in this video. and put some paint on the front sight.
Moral of the story…it’s been sent back to PSA. If it’s Glock clone and supposed to be able to utilize Glock mags then it should work with Glock mags. The Magpul ones didn’t even run 100 percent and they hang up in the gun without dropping free
@@HuntFishShootChannel I'm pretty sure its meant to be a stand alone gun that has many upgrade options on a budget. You used the mags it comes with and it ran fine. Then you used 47 different mags from different manufacturers and it didn't...shocker... I can smash a glock mag in a berreta, doesn't mean its going to run great...
@johnathandean3843 it didn’t run flawlessly with the Pmags though. That’s the problem.
Would be nice if they sell the frame alone.
That would be very popular!
Ok so I reviewed this pistol on my other channel. We all come to different conclusions. I ran into the issue of unintentionally comparing this pistol to my other high-end glock clones, that is unfair. Only issue I had was using glock mags but I switched out my mag catch/release with a oem ext glock mag cat and the issue was fixed. People buying this at this price point is either looking for a custom glock at a regular glock price, a shadow systems competitor at a much lower price or a dagger enthusiast but wants more flash. I wish fit and finish was a little tighter, and that they didn't go with posts, similar to zev, to mount the red dot. Blacked out sights didn't even bother me (which seemed to be a sticking point for you since you kept mentioning it) as my zev hypercomp is the same way. I will say your tone about the pistol kinda stirred your review, everything you get for the price is great, the only downside is for those who have one that isn't 100% reliable. Also did you lube it at all before taking it to the range? Fan of the channel, one of the few youtubers I can actually stand to watch all the way thru.
Thank you!
All guns before the range or review are cleaned and lubed. Ours is no doubt problematic. Likely going back to PSA. It started off on a bad foot with the lack of proper screws or improper screws supplied to mount an RMR which didn’t even fit the gun. That’s unacceptable. The fact this one will not run Glock brand mags for us was an issue. The fit and finish at 600+ dollars isn’t up to par with its competitors. I’ll openly admit my sentiment behind the pistol is negative at this point but that’s because of a lack luster performance on its part and it performed in the bottom 2% of all guns we have tested. PSA dubbed this like their premium dagger, but it falls short even if it’s flawless. Scooping up a regular dagger with rmr cut, slide cuts and threaded barrel at 300 bucks is a much better buy. We have two of those and they have been great and if they weren’t, then they are only 300 not 600 plus before shipping. I felt the Sabre Dagger at shot show and wasn’t impressed. This came out exactly like it thought it would based off what we saw at SHOT.
The biggest battle for the Sabre dagger is there are a handful of competitors at the same price which are proven with consistent and recorded good QC records while also performing well and being carried by professionals. As it sits there is no reason to purchase a Sabre dagger unless you want a unique sloppy cerakote finish.
I appreciate you watching and tuning in! The feedback is important!
Great video! Man idk what’s going on with RUclips cause this is the third time I’ve had to subscribe. Every time I check your channel it’s unsubscribed again!! Frustrating.
What the heck man! That is rediculous. We hear that more and more unfortunately
Buy a non Sabre blem. Save money for ammo or a cheap red dot.
I agree!
For $690 you might just grab a FN 509 MRD. Hope PSA can learn the lesson here and just leave budget guns at a budge price.
There are a lot of other guns I would recommend for the same price! 💪
At one point you could feel you wanted to just stop and throw the gun at the target and walk away😊
That is 100 percent true but I couldn’t let my full unbridled emotions out 😂
Shadow Systems or my favorite, the Bul Armory Axe and Hatchet line is by far a better choice. Just never gonna be a dagger fan. PSA is great. But not GREATTTT
Gotta try the Bul stuff!
Hell i thought i was doing good hitting a 4in plate at 200 with my Old 1940s Winchester model 69 LoL
Sounds good to me!
Put this head to head with the Cz p-10 C
💪
Right..... No Dictatorship
They took a Glock and figured out how to break it 😂
Shadow systems are premium guns though
Well isn’t this supposed to be premium? What about the Foundation series from Shadow Systems, they are the same price
The CZ P-10C exists soo .....
Notice the T-shirt , H.R.T. This stands for Hormone Replacement Therapy. He's juiced to the gills folks!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂 I think we me videos just for comments from you
I've had mine for about 2 years not a fan of the grip bump,
For some people they like it, it could be dremeled off I’m sure
Why are you saying iron that way 😂
I don’t know man. Ask my wife who teaches English, she complains all the time too.
$700 for a bag of problems?
Waste of money, PSA should stay in their lane.
Guns?
They need to make their QC their priority instead of coming out with new guns. If their QC wasn't so bad I wouldn't have a problem with them coming out with new guns.
It's all hype . For that price I rather get a glock with cut.
True!
The daggers are turds, cheaper models go close to what CZ P10's do, and this is at the same price as a PDP and getting close to Shadow Systems money too.
Exactly
@HuntFishShootChannel The only real budget pistol worth a damn is probably a Canik, and if you want something 380, the Security 380 has been pretty great for me. Thing was $290 brand new, no issues and nicer sights than the Dagger in this video lol.
@70bonnevilleguy53 Canik is great no doubt!
@HuntFishShootChannel I've got a Rival in the mix, and I've had their original sub compact. The sub compact was messing with the webbing of my had for some reason, got rid of it, and have a Gen 5 26 for my small 9mm now.
The micro daggers and sabres are ass from PSA!!!!
Ofcourse QC is Sh!et, just pumping crap without proper testing. Already have issues with 2 of their recent products. Oh and warranty lol, goodluck...
Glock is the best All💯☺️👍
Yeah I d just stick with the regular dagger… drop in an Apex or Timmey, and a dot…
Best 💡
