I love how they actually set all this up. Everything is in a fenced location obviously. From the juvenile honey badger. To the warthog in the hole. The hyena. Fake bird. And slapped together bee hive. All trained/fake. Ahhh truly inspirational vintage films. lol

From Wikipedia’s “Animals Are Beautiful People“ article: 1974 South African nature documentary, written, produced, directed, filmed and edited by Jamie Uys, presented with comedic elements. It was filmed in the Namib Desert, the Kalahari Desert and the Okavango River. It was the recipient of the 1974 Golden Globe Award for Best Documentary Film.
The Hyena didn't necessarily back down, they both cautiously sized each other up and respectfully went their separate ways. If there is one animal out there who could deal with a Badger it's a Hyena and that awesome bite force that comes with it. They both come from the same family though so the toughness is mutual.
Some cultures have pretty intense initiations to enter adulthood. I think the Honey Badger takes the cake though. Your parents just abandon you, and you fend for yourself by tussling with a warthog, chasing off a giant heyena, then covering yourself in thousands of stinging bees....And that's how dinner goes. Still they don't have to worry about marriage so I guess we win.
they can get away with it, because their built like tanks and sports cars put together, im sure humans would do the same if babies werent useless at birth and people had damn nigh indestrible bones super tough and skin with abit more flex to it to prevent snags cuts and slashes and punctures, and strong muscles from birth that didnt requite extra training=gym to be fit
You mean the Honey Badger wins by not worrying about marriage? Because when they "marry" in the US, they loose all the time. Have you ever heard of divorce?
So it's from this team work that tribal men in africa learned to use this bird. That's incredible,we learn a lot from animals, and we have a lot to learn from them yet.
I first thought the honey badger went for the birds nest, but then I realized it was out for honey, great teamwork between bird and badger, thanks for uploading
@phosphorescent wave Plus they’re tough too, very dangerous animal to hunt for humans, she’s got no thing to be ashamed off, that’s a tough animal too👊
I’ve seen similar in the Everglades where a large bird would fly over an lurking alligator and make a sound which had to be in bird talk “ALLIGATOR!!!”
Right off the bat it says the mother will abandon its young. Honey badgers stay with their young until the young out grow the adult which can take up to two years, just say'n...
What a difference 10 years makes, honey badgers are not abandoned by their parents while to young to understand how to hunt, but instead stay with their mothers for a significant amount of time(even for mammals).... p.s honey badgers are bmf'ers!!
Some shows manipulate the footage a little. They try to make it exiting to watch. They sometimes use tamed animals. Or fake attributes, like the bird at 1:12. It still happens today. Last december, there was an incident in the UK. The BBC filmed a tarantula in a studio for a Human Planet documentary on wildlife in a Venezuelan jungle. And some of the scenes in a Frozen Planet episode about polar bears giving birth in the wild were in fact spliced-in footage from a zoo.
Well that explains a lot. I didn't know Badger moms just ditch them as little ones. Like people who's mom abandon or abuse them they turn into a psychopath and try eat anything that moves face.
It should be written in the title that this is all fake so no confusion gets spread around. It's an old wives tale that the bird leads the Honey Badger to bee hives , there's no known footage of it ever happening unless it's on movie sets like this one with fake birds on strings lol.
There exists a symbiotic relationship between the Honey Badger and a "small bird?" "Fascinating, Captain," Spock would indubitably while staring down some green screen portal on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise, exclaim to Kirk. T'anks for posting this, woodsteven5.
zaxtor They do exist. This bird will guide both man and badger to honey. As an African, I know it for sure. Also, there is a danger associated with this bird. As there's a carnivorous bird that resemble this bird and it will fake itself as a "honey guide bird" and lead you to the meanest of all predators so it can eat some of your remains. Only the most naive fall for it.
@@AncientPharaoh Lol god you're a shocking liar lol. There's no such evidence proving the bird guides a honey badger to Honey , you do know that was all fake lol.
it's real but this was made for kids. this is not a new thing. ruclips.net/video/tnCbbAz6EaY/видео.html baboon kidnaps feral dog. there's a benefit for both species.
also i didn't know bee stings make a cute little chiming noise. its a useless noise under ordinary circumstances, but comes in handy when your filming a badger getting stung! nature thinks of everything.
I love how they actually set all this up. Everything is in a fenced location obviously. From the juvenile honey badger. To the warthog in the hole. The hyena. Fake bird. And slapped together bee hive. All trained/fake. Ahhh truly inspirational vintage films. lol

It definitely has that poor early 80’s “construction safety video” quality.
From the film called 'Beautiful People'.

I'm amazed about such a bird's existence
'When a honey badger is still young..his parents abandon him..'
No wonder he acts like a disfynctional psychopathic teenager for the rest of his life then..
Too bad it's not true tho, they stay with their parents for an abnormal long time.
This not facts. Just saying they usually stay with there parents for very very long. But I like your comment lol its funny
ahahhahaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
LOL 😂
Yea

So the honeybadger is Perseus and the honey-bird is Bubo; wonderful relationship.
It's from a documentary called "Animals are Beautiful People" I remember it being very fun, about 25 years ago.
Damien Dimitri Hell yeah I got to watch it then
This video is obviously much older then 25 year's.....This is late 60s or 70s

Thanks Damien...;)
Heard from another documentary that this teamwork was not true. Several test were done by using the birds call, and badger completely ignored it.

that was an eventful afternoon for the young honey badger lol he must've slept well that night.
Honey badger is the drunken kung fu master of the animal kingdom
Apparently Honey Badgers stay with their mother for two years
1:44 honey badger's deep instinct tells him to go for the hyena's balls.
Wanted to make an Eunuch of the hayena
Hyena likes his balls. Who doesn't? Lol.
Warthog: I'LL END YOU!!
honey badger: chill im just hungry
Immediately reminded me of this line from a Megan Thee Stalion freestyle, "you don't want it with me B*TCH!" LOL
When a Hyena backs down from a small animal like that, it means the Honey Badger is the real deal.
Bizoton Boy; and it always goes for the private parts 😁
1:52 honey badger doing what hyenas, do attack from the rear and bite their privates. hyena doesn't need this and runs off.
Poor baby. It just hungry. Smart bird. Helping together with the badger.
Now I understand why honey honey badgers🦡 are so badass animals... because their parents abandoned them when they are still young..

I got to appreciate and respect this unique creature on earth. I would believe this animal could survive under any circumstances on the planet.
I don't think it would do well around deep sea vents.
haha, the stuffed bird made my day.
Well we found the honey badger tamer.. The wart hog.. Amazing!
I love how the badger gets knocked around by a warthog and doesnt even care
The narrator here is the same one who did the mock-narration in the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy. It really takes me back.

most interesting video I saw today.
The badger doesn't wanna eat the cameraman cuz he wanna send a message to the world :" I don't give a fuck!"
The guys voice sounds like someone from the 1950's
I hope you all know this was staged, from the paper bird to the friendly hyena. The only true part was the badger getting stung.
Yea

I have seen other documentaries where they say that honeybadger stay with their parents until ready to fend.themself almost adulthood
And those are African Bees!
Lovely old documentary or the story from that guy behind this video.
Wow! those are killer bees!
Wow how a bird help honey badger to give him honey❤️
Maybe for the hyena it was the first time it saw a badger, many animals act like this, Dogs for example.

Honey badger is a total gangster

There is actually a bird species that lures bears and badgers to beehives, and it gets the beeswax as its share..
