owned one of these 25 years ago. funnest car I've ever owned. simple to work on, terrific on gas, motor was unkillable and the 4 coil springs gave you the most obscene axle articulation you could get from a bone stock 4wd. sure the window crank would snap off if you looked at it the wrong way or the seat would tear if you climbed in with rivet jeans but the liberty of going places only hardcore 4x4s would dare, was exhilarating. all you needed was the fatter tires from the cossack pkg and you could float over muck and snow where a jeep or truck would sink to the undercarriage. no beadlocks or diff locks or lift required. god i miss that lil tractor...and my rz500 :/
This is great. No pushbutton start, no unnecessary electronics, nothing to get in the way. Everything is so accessible and seems so easy to repair! If this car isn't crashed/destroyed, it can surely be running fine in 50-60 years no problem.
Rex I’d never pay 19,000 for this. A G class evolved before it was redesigned recently. This? They have been stamping it since 1970 and they can’t evolve it? Use a modern engine from another lada? New interior? Massage out the 1970 body lines? Four wheel discs? This car is bullshit. Zero evolution, its the same thing with new bumpers, grille. Why can’t they atleast use a new steering wheel from the Lada Granta? Or its interior?

Back in 1982 my Dad bought a 1600 Niva. He loved it, compared to our Mustange Mom hated it haha. This 2018 version is 90% the same minus a more modern dash,seats, wheels, and tail lights. This one is fuel injected. If looked after they will run a longtime. I really really live this one. Tyler from Canada
In 1998 i moved to Turkey and was there for 5 years. While living there I had a Lada...I have had ever kind of 4 x 4 offroad vehicle you can imagine...my Lada was badass...If I could get one here in the U.S. i would buy one...they are awsome and go anywhere...
These cars combine the essential elements necessary for a vehicle designed to operate reliably in extremely harsh meteorological and environmental conditions. Simple systems and equipment designed to be easily maintained and repaired by owners using basic tools. We never saw the long wheelbase version in the UK, but my choice would be for a long wheelbase two door hatchback (if such a model was offered). I would rather own, operate and upgrade one of these than have a competitors model with push button everything! I don't like an overabundance of electronics in a vehicle intended to operate in remote, harsh environments. The model shown in the video looks gorgeous in that colour, and the wheels took great too. The whole vehicle oozes compact capability, looking the right combination of size and weight. Thank you for producing this video and posting it here.

As someone who owned a 1990 niva it's amazing how many parts appear to be unchanged in this new model. The roof lining, gear levers, shifter knob and hand brake are still identical. And the shifter still looks like it's too far forward haha. Loved my niva.
There is also UAZ Hunter, UAZ loaf. not so long ago, they stopped producing vaz 2107. But the design of all these cars remained unchanged, not from the good life.

I owned a 1981 Lada sedan in Canada. It needed work all the time but it was simple to work on: Parts were cheap and it was the car that I learned to work on cars with. To this day I still fix my own rides and still use the lessons that I learned working on it. I still miss it and wish that I could get a simple to work on ride like it again.

It sucks for us in America too. I want a Lada Niva, Suzuki jimny or a street legal mahindra Roxor. In my state I cannot legalize the Roxor because it is not road worthy. I want a off road capable vehicle that is minimalist. It's sad to say but the modern crossovers and 4x4s is shit. The quality went down and to much electronics. It costs an arm and a leg trying to figure out any electrical problems.

I want one so bad. It's so hard to find a Lada Niva in America. Everyone has a Toyota, Ford, Dodge, Jeep or Chevy. I want something different and minimalist.

Jeeps are just as bad in America. All modern cars are garbage. I'm trying to find a simple designed off road vehicle. The less electronics the better. So far Toyota's are almost bulletproof but I already have a 2005 4x4 Tacoma. I would love to have something different. I'm thinking of buying a awd Rav4 2010 and turn it into a rally car just to have some fun.

Hope their better than the 80's version. In those days they were the worlds worst vehicles. Still wouldn't be game enough the purchase one.
