  • Today's a border crossing day! I leave the amazing laid back town of Puerto Viejo in Costa Rica for a small border crossing in Panama... the ride upon crossing into Panama is dreamy and it has me thinking about a side of motorcycling that non-motorcyclists don't really know...

    I agree that riding a motorcycle is being in and accepting the moment. The Navajo have a word for this...HOZHO. Living and seeking harmony and beauty. That seems to wrap up your goals pretty well! Ride on and stay safe, Tamara!

    Ahhhh Tammy, you said some of the most important words about motorcycling... I feel this every time I ride, which is alot! just a couple weeks ago I got back to AZ from BC Canada- 1800 miles of riding bliss! I wonder if those who have never ridden bikes really understand what you are saying about past, future and now... we really can't not be present on a motorcycle! Thank you for talking about this! Do you know what Mirriam Webster's word of 2023 is? Authentic! And you are definitely authentic!! And yes, "we" are definitely along for the ride with you!!! What a great episode! 🙏

      💞💞 That's so cool to hear, I love knowing how others experience it too. Yay!! That's amazing! A lot of miles! So glad you had a great trip.
      Cannot not be present! Perfect way to put it! It's always so funny to me too because I don't think most people (non-riders) know this about motorcycling. Haha I didn't know there was a word of the year and I love it! It's funny bc I recently read a thing about the powerful energy of authenticity. I still need to remind myself of it! Thanks for the words Greg!

    Tammy: I’ve been enjoying your video logs very much. Though I don’t spend as much time on-line as many people now do, I have watched travel videos from time to time, and while some of them have been quite good, I find a special, unique quality in your presentations which I’m not sure I can pin down in words, but which is nevertheless real. As one who lives “mindfully” in the future, or who frets “mindfully” over the past, I was intrigued by your comments on the “mind-less” present, though I suspect that’s would be a tricky thing to achieve. Also, I’m curious to see, soon, how you dealt with the infamous Darien Gap - perhaps a boat transfer to Colombia? (I realize you may be saving it as a surprise!) Anyway, I wish you the best of luck on your continuing travels.

    • @MindBodyMotoGirl
      @MindBodyMotoGirl  7 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks so much for your beautiful words, they mean a lot. You said that really nicely, "the mind-less present," funny enough I found it just happened for me when I started riding a motorcycle, one of the reasons I fell in love with the sport.
      Haha yes we shall see! There is actually a LOT up in the air and many considerations for this aspect of the trip so we'll see how it pans out...

    • @elgringoec
      @elgringoec 7 месяцев назад

      I think it's fair to say that it's essentially unavoidable, at least for one who values one's physical well being. A lot of car drivers tend to daydream , and use the excuse of "that's what I have insurance for". But on a bike, insurance is still a thing, but there's no protective cage with crush zones and airbags to soften the blow. One can have their leg broken in five places by a minor tap without leaving a mark on the car. Plus all the other threats like animals and debris in the road, etc etc. It's like playing a video game where everything's a threat and the operator has to successfully evaluate and navigate the trajectory. It's very high-consequence. There's just no time for other thoughts to distract from staying alive and well.

    The four times I almost killed myself on my motorcycle was BECAUSE I let my mind get “off-task” (not paying attention to the road, conditions, and speed) all my fault. I whole heartedly agree with your sentiments that riding a moto is about the here and now. Bien surete

    I haven't heard it explained quite like that, but am well familiar with the phenomena. Mototherapy, or mototerapia en español. I've always described it as dedicating 100% CPU cycles (the equivalent thereof) to the task. If you're daydreaming, trouble's a-brewin'! Or you're riding too slow and the mind is bored. 😂
    So, the protests are done? Looks like it. Are you following "The Nomadic Movement" at all? They might be back at Lola's Farm by now. Haven't heard from them since they were winterizing their Airstream in Stowe, VT. Though somehow I think they rescheduled their flight to the 29th (tomorrow), not sure though. Anyway you'd get a big audience boost if you appeared on their channel. And I know they'd love you as much as I do. Sure couldn't hurt to throw them an email, if you haven't already. Cheers! ☯️☮️

      Mototherapy! Yes! Such a great term. lol 100% cpu that's so great too.

      I'm glad you didn't get caught in those demonstrations that brought Panama to a halt for a while there. We've been watching Jordan and Kaylee since their traveling days in the bus. We don't typically choose to watch people homesteading but we stuck with them and with Trent and Allie after they settled, started building their homes and families. Adventurous spirit can carry over to family life. We haven't heard from Jordan and Kaylee since they finished their 48 state 48 day challenge ending at their coffee shop in VT. Seems like a long time; hoping all's well with them. Last we knew they were hoping to get back to their home in the mountains above bogete but travel was uncertain due to the demonstrators blocking the roads.
      Anyway you could email em if you want, they might invite you up especially if you tell them you're interested in camping there a week or two and helping them with their homesteading (farming and building).
