- Redbridge Group Director Simon Welsh says the debacle surrounding Anthony Albanese’s attendance at a domestic violence rally in Canberra speaks to a “deeper problem” for the PM.
Mr Albanese found himself in hot water after claiming he had requested to speak at the event but was subsequently denied, to which Ms Williams said that was a "full-out lie" before bursting into tears.
Ms Williams took to social media that same day and said Mr Albanese was "abusing his power" by "aggressively stating" he was the prime minister, demonstrating his "entitlement" to speak at the rally.
“What we’ve been seeing over the last little bit is this sense of lost opportunity, lost promise around Anthony Albanese,” Mr Welsh told Sky News Australia.
“Little things like that event on the weekend just add to this sense of 'this bloke was supposed to be on our side and we don’t feel like we are getting what we wanted or what we expected'."

Women need to be able to leave their partners. To move into a place and have the kids safe, even when they are on a single parent pension, it is a vital safe guard. Share or emergency accommodation doesnt cut it. Housing and rentals need to be fixed to safe guard the welfare of women and children. And those ankle guards should notify the partner if they are cut or in proximity rather than an overloaded police system.
I lived in his electorate for twenty years and never saw or heard from him or his team, either from a knock on the door or at shopping centres. Very lazy and totally useless, but that’s just my opinion.
