I love how genuine the contestants are on this episode. Both seemed genuinely happy for each other when they won money and her husband looked so proud! I hope they enjoyed that holiday!
This as far as I'm concerned IS Catchphrase! I just loved Roy's original run on the show. 14 straight years at it too. Much as I enjoy the current incarnation, I loved these more.
I was very surprised to discover that Carlton had taken over production (via Action Time) when this was first shown. I guess after their lacklustre first year, they were desperate for a proven hit.
I know exactly how you feel; I’d have something to say, but I’m aware what’s to deter me. All I’ll say, is, there’s a good bit of Catchphrase episodes (of both eras - TVS / Meridian and this one), that could have been better (I’m aware of people saying, these days, about how they wish their favourite old school shows could be redone, even though that’s not possible, but it would definitely never be possible to change reality TV shows - like this one or ‘Stars in their Eyes’).
Catchphrase and bullseye were my favourites when i was a kid
The beginning of the golden era of Catchphrase!

It’s appalling now…practically gifts the answers to the dumbest contestants…in a similar vein to a question of sport
@@alanjames762 yeah, you're right
This was so heart warming to watch ❤
More than 34 years since the first episode back in 1986
It's Now Been 30 years since this the 1st edition of Catchphrase under the Carlton Television label began!
Wally was thinking of all those horses to bet on whilst spending the holiday £1K bonus in the Glesga pubs.
Must be annoying being against someone who gets a early lead over you
My favourite part is where they guess the catchphrases! ❤
And where Roy makes to most incomprehensible jokes ❤
My favourite part is where the tank looked like a fish.
And where the chip off the old block looked like the chip off the old block! ❤
I remember watching these when I was younger how I’ve missed this

They were nothing without acquiring other companies. They had nothing of their own that's why they bought Central, ITC, Rank, etc
