I worked on Catch Phrase Australia back in the day and we did stuff like this in the 9 square puzzles all the time. If they were exposed in the correct order they would be hysterical.
It wasn't so much of the possible image of wanking himself, but rather the "here comes the bonus" part (1:25 on). My reaction seeing it myself was, "What the hell is that?!" The audience felt the same way, too, and Roy Walker contributed when we saw him laughing with us. One of the best moments in television.
