I wouldn't care if they used this same graphics engine to make 6 more Pathfinder games, as long as the story telling, game mechanics and voice acting is as good as the first one, I'm all in.
Honestly, I still think this looks dope! Of course you can see some reskins from Kingmaker but it does not look outdated. With the new models added to the game this game will presumably just become even bigger and more versatile. It looks promising.
Well, I would love to see WotR with the visual quality of a Baldur's Gate 3, but yeah... whenever the choice between excellent story or excellent graphics *has* to be made, story is the *only* correct decision! =)
I would prefer they used a new engine for purely technical reasons. Unity has major optimization uses, memory leaks and so forth it.
Kingmaker still suffers a lot of problems due to the shoddy engine, which is a shame considering how good the actual game is.
Fully agree. I would like to see several of Pazio's AP's done by Owlcat.
@@MrGrimBG unity is a great engine, especially for the developers. It makes a ton of hard things much easier compared to other engines. I completely understand their choice, it makes a lot of sense. Regarding the memory leaks, I'm not sure. Most games made in unity don't suffer from similar problems, and people would also know about such things (I'm in unity Dev forums and communities), so I'm pretty sure it's the developers' fault. Memory leaks aren't a thing in an engine as famous, important and discussed as unity.
kingmaker is a great game - but this looks like a huge step forward. great work guys! certainly one of my favorite studios out there - especially after the great support that kingmaker got and all those patches and new features (especially turn based mode)
its not often you find a new developer making a Neich game thats good and they improve as they make new games
@Novem's Natural Roll Indeed, it really shows they've learned ALOT from making kingmaker! It's looking so good.
@Novem's Natural Roll I hope your right about that.
My biggest problem with Kingmaker is, that you have to manually travel through every location which takes ages.
@@Altoid345 They aren't new, though, they developed Silent Storm in 2003. Yeah, they had a different name, but it was the same people.
This game is going to be Mythical.
Mythical bugfest indeed, at least for first few months after release.
@@veduci22 True. Mystic bugfest. Playable maybe 22 march 2022 console realese.
@@veduci22 did you even play beta ? except a recent bug introduced on beta 3 that prevented progression. beta 2 was totally free of any bug preventing progression, i did the campaign from start to finish almost 6 times using different build and mythic classes each time, back to back with no game breaking bugs.
are some skills/perk/features bugged? yes
does the game has nearly as much bug as kingmaker at release had? definitely not.
game as more complex systems/progression than kingmaker had while being less buggy.
@@dikenization better than Cyberpunk
@@jobslolo7387 Each major patch will break your save and you will start playing from the beginning, if it is high difficulty, then it is better not to even start until the new year.
Can't wait to spend days on this and when I'm done with character creation I can finally play the game.
Play the game for 5 hours, then get struck by a severe case of restarteritis, go back to the main menu and roll a new character. Rinse repeat 10 times.
@@damokt I'll definitely be doing that, lol. I've played through Kingmaker with several different characters, and will be doing the same to WotR
@@damokt Yeah, you're preaching to the choir with that one.
@@lagbait3076 The thing is that now te story will change significantly with every character because the mythic patha have diferent storys. I've only seen a part of the lich one, but it adds a level of epicness and replayability quite considerable :P

Sir Sir you forgot your Horse wouldn't want to charge the horde with out him.
And the graphics ARE better! So yep, use the same graphics engine as long as everything else is still epic.
The path of the Azata awaits me.
I've been waiting for so long, for someone, for a studio, to finally brings the golden age of CRPGs back. Kingmaker gave me the feeling it's possible, so I supported WotR on kickstarter.
It's your time, Owlcat! You have the opportunity to claim your place next to Baldur's Gate II. Make it happen!
I would argue that this already started with DoS2 a largely beloved CRPG and GotY winner for many. Along with the first Pillars games and Disco Elysium among other great CRPGs. Hopefully with the renewed interested in the game type along with the surge in populator in D&D we will see more games come out to usher in a new era where we have many strong contenders with WotR and BG3 on the way.
@@WSPBane DoS2 was a good game but by far not a great one, nor was it a classical D&D CRPG. It was pretty but very shallow.
Super hyped! Owlcat deserves way more recognition and publicity.
I can listen to this narrative voice all day long. What amazing voice actress!
Awesome. Been playing the crap out of the beta and cannot wait for full release.
I follow your WotR videos religiously bud. Great work.
@@da_ocsta1452 Thank you! I appreciate the support!
Hot DAMN, the character creator looks SO GOOD. In absolute love with this game, can't wait for September!!
Recomment you to wait till 2022. There are no properly working classes for now (beta 0.8.1), every classes have mechanics bugs.
So for those curious about the music... The first track is one of the many regional combat themes this game has. The second track is one of the hub area themes for chapters 2 and 3. The third track is a regional world map theme for chapter 1.
You feel like a God in this game and the other characters actually treat you like one.
Don't think i've ever been looking forward to a game release so much!
Fallout 4 was the last one for me. But unlike that one, I know WotR won't be a dissapointment.
This is great! That console release is great too. I've already pre-ordered the game, and I can't wait to play it!
I would like to thank you in taking away my desire to play almost anything else now LOL.
Seriously, I’ve been flailing around trying to play 6 different games this week because I can’t keep interested enough in any of them!
I'm playing PFKM just to hold off the insatiable itch to play this!

They are killing it with the music again!
I cannot wait for the full ost release...played the beta and there is at least 10 soundtracks that are god tier(knew this was going to be a good game the moment i stayed on the main menu to listen to the main theme....i have not done that since DA:Origins(and Throne of Bhaal).

The Pathfinder games besides the RTwP combat aren't that similar to Baldur's gate. More similar to KOTOR, Dragon Age and Neverwinter Nights 2.
Loved the trailer! Been playing since Alpha and can't wait for the final release!
Absolutely astonishing; can’t wait to play this promising instant classic!
You're one of the last good ones, Owlcat. Never sell out, no matter how tempting the "imagine the games we can create with the backing of EA/Activision/Bethesda". I will preorder every RPG you make as long as you're you. Can't wait for this one.
Well it would depend on who bought them, I definitely agree they should stay away from EA and Activision.
I don't think it would be too bad if someone like Xbox bought them out, they seem to let their devs do what they want
@@thewielder3445 Or a "we leave you alone" developer like Paradox. HBS specifically stated the hands-off deal they were offered made signing on with them an easy choice.
@@shawngillogly6873 Ehhh...Paradox. Look what happened to Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines 2. Gutted, Shelved and a crappy Battle royale bearing the license taking it's place.

I backed the KS campaign and stayed away from almost all updates and even EA as I want to have the full experience on release.
And when I look at this video I just can say....wow. That blows one away.
I am sure there will be still a LOT of work going into this game after release day, patches and all the stretch goals.
Amazing job Owlcat team. A big thanks to the entire team and all testers which contributed to this epic piece!
Stretch goals were sorted before release. I think the last of them was added in the 2nd beta patch.
this trailer is hype! the music is awesome!
Wow. They have committed to September 2nd? Nice! Can't wait for my multiple playthroughs!
And multiple playthroughs you can do and, in my opinion, have them feel different then each other.
Kingmaker was underrated. I’m really looking forward to playing this one when it’s finished.
Ahhh, the music... the music is Majestic!!

Spent 300+ hours in Kingmaker. Looking forward to more in Wrath. Thanks, Owlcat!
Just preordered the Mythic Edition. This is my Game of the Year. I went from not knowing about Kingmaker at all to it becoming my favourite modern CRPG. And I can easily see an improvement in this game. This is the first time I'm encouraged to try an Evil route to become a cool Lich and make my epic story. It just feels so rewarding for people who play RPGs how they are intended to be played. Thank you so much for making these games

Tactical adventures? Nah, solasta is a hot mess of utter disappointment
@@Jinkypigs If nothing else, Larian should steal the Ready Action interface from Solasta. It's an implementation both faithful to the source material and, very importantly, smooth to use. E.g. stacking up on a doorway with ranged attacks while shambling hordes of zombies walk through, or preparing a combat line to intercept a charging foe is smart play made easy to realize thanks to the system interface.
Beautiful. Look like nearly all features that not have enough time to make for the first game make it this time. Let continue to build the big foundation for this video game version of this series.
Man the damm music!! this game will be so EPIC!! i cant wait!!

Their second Pathfinder that look incredible, with so much upgrade that it only deserve my respect. Well done Owlcat, continue like that
The Heroes of Might and Magic meta-game though! Had 400+ hours in Kingmaker, this one looks like it'll take 800+ n_n
I haven't even played kingmaker yet. I'm newish to the CRPG genre so I'm working through all the other CRPGs because I know once I play kingmaker nothing else will compare - until Wrath of the Righteous, that is. 😏
Весьма достойная РПГ получилась, Совокоты. Особенно нравится химия между спутниками и главным героем, живое отношение друг к другу. Вариативность и саундтрек тоже отставляют самые хорошие впечатления.
You took the best genres(rts, diablo style isometric camera angle, settlement management) and shaped them accordingly to fit d&d.
With great mastery over the game development industry we hope you to become one of the greatest...
The fact this isn't out right now hurts my very soul! I can't wait!

Hopefully there will be a decent amount of portraits. There wasn’t enough in Kingmaker and had to load in a ton myself which seemed to mess with the Ram usage if I didn’t quit out after loading each portrait.
I am currently 30+ hours in and just reached act 4 of Pathfinder Kingmaker and I wish I had played it sooner. It was sat in my steam collection far too long and I was missing out on an excellent rpg so I am super stoked about this sequel and I will certainly be getting this as soon as I can.

I know you can play as a demon, but can you side with them and turn against humanity?
Asking for a chaotic neutral friend.
as good as BG3 will be, this game feels more like BG1&2 than BG3 does
It does have RTwP combat(But also turn based), besides that though I wouldn't say so. More like a grand tabletop adventure or one of Bioware's later console RPGs.
So, it's basically a brutally upgraded Kingmaker with King's Bounty added on top with grid-based troop combat? I think I found my GOTY! Holy hell, this will be immense! Day one for sure.
The games many classes and sub-classes along with a multitude of races make character building one of the best parts of the game.
Great trailer. The VA nails it.
Less than a month away boys, so hyped. Currently playing through kingmaker again, as a refresher.
Kingmaker really was great - something that surprised me coming out of this inundated genre that mostly rides off nostalgia. I also highly appreciate the research put into Paizo's campaign and investing in the work to improve it and make it so much better. It makes me very intrigued to see what you've got up your sleeves for Wrath of the Righteous, Owlcat. Will you rest on your laurels or release another banger?
Guess we'll find out in three weeks. Good luck!
Inundated genre? There's only a handful of these games over the last 10 years. Want inundated? look at nearly every other console focused genre. From JRPGs to platformers.
@@7dayspking Tyranny, Pillars of Eternity, Grim Dawn, Divinity: Original Sin, Torment, Wasteland 2, and a SLEW of crappy indie ones not worth mentioning.
@@truth7921 Did you play any of these games before making your comment?
Grim Dawn's a Diablo clone, loot based hack'n slash action game and is absolutely nothing like Pathfinder WOTR in any way.
Torment, Wasteland and Divinity are turn based and since when is 5 games in 10 years inundated? Most of these games are kickstarter and Indie projects.
Baldur's gate 3's the only true published cRPG released since Drakensang River of time in 2010, Neverwinter Nights & Icewind Dale 2 in 2002, Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura in 2001 and Baldur's gate 2 in 2000. That's not innundated.
There's been over a dozen PUBLISHED JRPGs THIS YEAR ALONE(and dozens or hundreds of Indies) and several hundred since 2011. There's been dozens or hundreds of shooters, platformers, live service games, Open world action games, Sports games, tactics games, hack'n slash action games and even MMOs since then!
Your comment in context, with perspective is completely ridiculous.
@@7dayspking And there's more shooters being released than JRPGs, so now your point is moot, apparantly.
My comment was within the context described: cRPGs, which includes all of those I listed (and played). Why would I care about other genres when talking about /this/ genre?
@@truth7921 The point is your comment taking perspective into consideration is ridiculous. 5 cRPGs in 10 years is not inundated, that's ridiculous. And if you'd actually played any of those games, you'd have never listed Grim Dawn alongside them.
There's definitely more JRPGs than shooters. The majority of shooters are released on AAA budgets, being too expensive for small teams and many AAA publishers right now are wrapped up in other genres, we'll often get less than half a dozen(6) shooters in a year. In fact, take a look at how many shooters released THIS year. There's really only the handful of flagship franchises and it's been that way for a long time. This isn't 2006.
Where as nearly the entire Japanese game development industry is wrapped up in JRPGs as many Western Indie developers are as well.
There's already been more than a dozen, published JRPGs this year. There's several with solid release dates (Shin Megami Tensei V, Tales of Arise etc.) still to release this year.
Since about 1988, there's consistently been about a dozen published JRPGs every single year on consoles and then a handful more on PCs.
5 kickstarted, Indie cRPGs in 10 years is not inundated, it's not a lot, it's not an overwhelming amount. That's ridiculous.
It might feel overwhelming for someone who doesn't enjoy cRPGs and hates even hearing of a new one releasing.
