You were missed, glad your back. Always enjoy your candid commentary and steady videos. You show what we want to see & always carefully handle the fish. I like the fact you don’t imply you “know it all”. You are like most of us using a tenkara rod, we are enjoying the journey. Thanks
The fishing in the Front Range of Colorado has been the best ever. Every where I go I catch fish. I think all the rain and storms really helped. Beautiful spot !!
Wish I was knee deep in a cold , clear , Colorado mountain stream ! But no , I'm roasting here in Texas , glued to my chair in front of the AC . Can't wait for it to cool off a little . Hope you found the rods ! Another awesome stream with nice fish , all to yourself 😎👍👍
@@TenkaraAddict I'm glad that you found the other rods! I have to say thanks again. I bought this rod (in brown) based on your recommendation in a previous video. Although I haven't trout fished with it yet, I've had a blast with it as I've probably caught over 1,000 fish warmwater already with it in less than 6 months. I was curious about the 12' version and thought about buying one for bigger water/fish, so I'm probably not going to get it since you didn't sound very excited about it. I'll research other brands for a bigger rod for less than $100. I'll check out your reviews but would be interested in your recommendation based on what you know today. Thanks in advance for that, for the original recommendation, and for your videos!
I bought this rod after I watched your first video it was my first Tenkara rid and probably one of my favorites for sure, I have caught sooo many fish on it
HI TRISTAN 👋 FINGERS CROSSED IT'S WHERE YOU LEFT IT ! GORGEOUS CREEK / STREAM & TROUT ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! ENJOYED 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES 🙏 THANK YOU 🙏
You might want to check out Grant Creek on Graham Mountain in southern Arizona. There are Apache trout there and it’s a nice location. Bit of a hike but worth it.
Love the videos! The scenery is amazing! Just getting started with Tenkara! Wish I watched sooner. I purchased a rod with a negative review and understood immediately. Thanks for the info!
Your videos are my absolute fav. Picked up a Nissin Zerosum to try something different and it's so fun! Definitely gotta be sneaky in the low and slow stuff.
Thanks to you, I just ordered my first Tenkara rod, the one you feature in this video. You talk this rod up, and it is nice and inexpensive, so it sounds like a good one for a total noob like me! I am addicted to your videos---I avoid notifications for most channels but I do enjoy when I get one for your vids. Thanks again!!
Gorgeous creek! Super envious, with the heat wave in the Driftless this week most creeks are too warm to fish responsibly. Thanks for the refreshing video Tristan!
Luckly you use barbless hooks, so you don't have any problems to remove them. Ones I had large treble hook in my thumb. We had use pliers to pull the barb out...
What a delightful creek! It is always encouraging to see such healthy fish - especially wild rainbows in Colorado, considering how whirling disease so reduced their wild stocks back in the mid-1990’s. I wonder if those may have been descendants of Hofer strain rainbows that Colorado Parks & Wildlife was working with to introduce greater disease resistance.
I hope you found your rods! Please let us know! Also, maybe the fishing got better because the water warmed up a little bit as the day progressed? Great video!
In the process of moving to Colorado. Looking forward to som small stream tenkara as well as th south platte. What is the level line length you mose frequently use?
Depends entirely on what length rod I'm using. I fish a line that's the same length as whatever rod I'm using. And I'd say I fish mostly 11 ft rods, so I guess 11 ft is the size of line I use most.
Aventik is very capable and a great rod when compared to my other higher end rod from Tenkara Rod Co or Dragontail Co. I actually have caught more fish with Aventik
Hi I am from Sweden and wants to get a Tenkara Rod. There are not many for sale here yet but I have found two and would like some advice. For information, I have been fishing for over fifty years. Many of them flyfishing. And I love these small creeks and would love to fish them with Tenkara gear. The two rods I have seen is Zen Tenkara Zako Rod 12 feet, and Zen Tenkara Tri-zoom Rod 7'7, 9'3 and 10'8. Both have 6:4 action. Do you have any experience from those rods, or heard about them? Best regards Nils-Olof Nilsson
Are the brookies skinny because they don't have enough of their preferred prey? Rainbows are more than happy to subsist on insects but the brookies are determined to hunt fish and there just aren't enough prey fish for them. Just a theory.
If possible, please could you post a link or just the name of your landing net, I don’t seem to be able to find anything like it here in the U.K. Many thanks.
It's in the description of every video on this channel 😁 It's a medium Measure Net with the rubber net bag. Just search for "Measure Net" and you'll find it.
@@TenkaraAddict Many thanks, I’ve been trying to find the name for a couple of weeks, but had just found it! Unfortunately they’re few and far between here, and quite expensive!
They look like "cutbows" to me. Pretty common all over Colorado. In fact I caught a few myself earlier today (in the San Juans) along with some "full blood" rainbows and cutthroats, and some nice browns.
Beautiful creek, and even more beautiful trout at 6:13

Superb conditions, the colour of the water and fish are really a sweet sight, thanks for taking us fishing.
Update 11 minutes in and I'm hammered!
Colorado! great you are in my back yard
Water quality is incredible! So is the fishing.

I actually did the same thing haha. Haven’t gone fly fishing in over 10 years, but I’m excited to try it again. Hope we both enjoy our new toys.
Another action-packed tenkara adventure! Rocky Mountain rainbows and brookies!😊
Yep, it was a good time! Thanks Robert.
Thats a beautiful fish one of the best so far this year
Another beautiful stream! 😍
Gorgeous creek! Super envious, with the heat wave in the Driftless this week most creeks are too warm to fish responsibly. Thanks for the refreshing video Tristan!
That was so fun to watch! Beautiful creek!
That looked fun! I need to look into getting one of those.
If I get hooked while fishing, I consider it poetic justice for the fishys. 😅
7 minutes in I'm playing the "see ya buddy game" and I'm still sober....pitter patter let's get at er!
Goodluck with the rods ❤
I found 'em 👍
🤩🤩🤩
Thanks Tristan...
Hopefully wish you found the rods 🙏
I did! 😁
Did you find the lost rods?
Yes, I did 😁
I really enjoy your videos.
Thanks!
A pan for heavies, should be done also. Amazing creek.
Very nice...
Can you also please make a review of the Aventik Z Pocket rod please?
And what line are you using with this rod here?
Great video !
Thanks!

I have the brown version of that rod and I love it. Better than my Dragontail Shadowfire.
Nice fish
Were you able to find the sleeve of other rods you left at the start of your hike?
I hope you found your rods! Please let us know! Also, maybe the fishing got better because the water warmed up a little bit as the day progressed? Great video!
well don't leave us hangin', did you find those rods?
Do you ever use beadhead flies to reach deeper depths, or only Kebari flies that don’t get to the bottom of the stream?
Only kebari
Would you suggest a zoom for a beginner

Do you wear studs in a creek like this?
Its ALL good! Scenry, clear water and catch'n!
I agree!
I hate to be a Negative Nancy, but I'm wondering what I bought the big screen for😅

Rainbows are extra fat this year partly because it’s been super buggy in CO.
Gorgeous bows.
How do you define a good rod from a bad one? If I get into this hobby, I would like to lean on your expertise to purchase the right one or two rods.
update? did you find the rods????
I did! Right where I'd left 'em.

Many thanks, I’ve been trying to find the name for a couple of weeks, but had just found it! Unfortunately they’re few and far between here, and quite expensive!
Can you test maximumcatch triple zoom rod?
Which one? I have two of them. The shorter one is good, the longer one is too heavy and stiff.
@@TenkaraAddict try the shorter one
A lot of your videos, on the budget rods, 9’ seem to be the magic number. 12’s seem heavy. I have a 12 GOture, capella. Heavy
Do those rainbows maybe have a little cutthroat in their linage?
They look like "cutbows" to me. Pretty common all over Colorado. In fact I caught a few myself earlier today (in the San Juans) along with some "full blood" rainbows and cutthroats, and some nice browns.
Char (brook trout) and rainbow don’t really interbreed. Cuts are closely related to rainbows.
Don't forget to let us know if you found your rods.
What time of day do you suggest to go fishing for brook trout?
Brook trout are not fussy if you find them you can catch them most of the time they are Aggressive.
