  • Yeah... I'm here again. BilletWorkz released a new short shifter for the GR Corolla and well... I decided to try it out. And also document it for you!
But there is an important piece to this puzzle (more on that in the upcoming test drive video) ... I have this short shifter paired up with another short shifter from Racer X.

You got that right; I'm running both the @racerxfab Short Shifter AND the new @Billetworkz Short Shifter together. It feels ABSOLUTELY amazing.
The test drive video is coming up, in the meantime, check the install!

First - thanks for your install video it helped a ton! I ended up purchasing the Billetworkz SS and installed it today (super fast shipping btw). I did not have to completely remove the center console like you did, however I did remove the screws/bolts so that I could move it - the only part I had to move it was for the bushings on the front side.
Much like you, I did not have an allen key to fit the lockout assembly, but ended up using T10H/T15H torx bits.
Once I got the bushings installed, I ran into a small hiccup with the retaining cup with the spring that the bottom of the shifter fits into, which actually fell off. Getting that back on was a challenge with so little space, but it worked out. Other than that, a very straightforward install.
Shifts feel good and noticeably shorter. Overall, very impressed with the design and the feeling of the shifts.
Thinking about fitting a small o ring or something between the reverse lockout and the stop bolt - metal on metal clanking when engaging reverse.

Good job on yet another SS! It's good to see what you had on before (RacerX) and how you explained it may not be the same if this was your first time with the OEM shifter.
I'm surprised BilletWorkz assembled the top half of the shifter, knowing it would need to be disassembled for installation. They could have provided an explosive view of how the parts fit together/assemble, and provide that needed special L end wrench. Also I'd think they would have a little blue loctite on those screws, so they don't come loose sometime down the road, it'll take a lot of movement going from shift to shift.
Oh, and I like your version of a little grease on the shifter...LOL! I was rolling when I saw that.
Love your vids and instructions, now I need to look for that follow up vid on your driving experience with the Billetworkz shifter. I moved your "like" to 28...where is everyone on this, 28 give me a break, this guy is busting doing these vids for you all or is it for all y'all...ha!

Always appreciate the support! So one thing I’ll highlight in the test drive is this… I’m using both the Racer X short shifter and the BilletWorkz together. It feels amazing.

molybdenum disulfide grease would be better for that application.(engineer and gr owner here)

I love the color, Im thinking about gettting one of these and just keeping the CE Shiftt Knob as a display piece.

The racerX combo wasn’t good enough for ya?! This is like the pitch mount situation all over again lol

Racer x is better in my opinion. The billet works is only a 25% throw reduction. Racer X is 40% reduction.

I may have a problem, but the upside is the community gets to see how all these parts perform. However, in my test drive the key part is that I’m using both the Racer X short shift and this BilletWorkz together.
